DISNEY’S MOVIE “FROZEN” (screening with @themoms) #FrozenMamarazzi

21 Nov

The new Disney movie “Frozen” was such an excellent movie my kids and I saw it twice. We were invited by a friend to a screening the first time. The Moms had a screening as well on Veteran’s Day and we got to meet Idina Menzel for a Q&A after the screening. Idina Menzel is the voice of the character (Elsa the snow queen). Kristen Bell is the voice of (Anna) who played Elsa’s sister. They both did a great job and I knew as soon as the movie started I was going to enjoy it. My kids and I laughed and singed and we probably would have saw it a third time. My daughter wanted me to download one of the songs from the movie so she could learn all the words. The song is called “Let It Go.” I also loved the song.

I asked my friend daughter to ask Idina if she would sing part of the song “Let It Go” for us and she did and she had us loving the song even more. I recorded a video of it so I will post it. I hope it loads. If not you can find it on the moms Twitter page. @themoms and I will also put it on my Twitter page as well @nilimonicky

I won’t give away too much about the movie but I will say Anna teams up with a guy named Kristoff to find her sister Elsa whose powers turned the kingdom into eternal winter. She is also helped by a snowman named Olaf. This journey is adventurous and felt like a roller coaster ride. We enjoyed every moment. The cast were incredible, great music, and great story. I personally can’t wait for this to come out on DVD. You however don’t have to wait that long because the movie opens November 27.2013. I know every family will enjoy this movie as much as we did.

Also at the screening were Samsung and they were promoting their new tablet the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. My kids had fun with the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet. The kids got to experience hands on how great this tablet is and even draw some pictures. There was a contest and my daughter was sad she didn’t win one but she enjoyed the movie and hinted to me that she needs that tablet. I’m giving Samsung a hint that we need those tablets (Wink, wink)
You can check out these tablets on a their Twitter page @SamsungMobileUS

As always thanks to @themoms for another fantastic screening for the families.

@afterearth MY REVIEW @themoms #Smithmamarazzi @officialjaden

1 Jun

When I RSVP’d for another mamarazzi event courtesy of @themoms to see a screening of @afterearth with Will Smith and Jaden Smith I never knew I was in for very powerful, positive messages from Will Smith. Not only was the movie great and the moral of the movie was overcoming fears, but what Will had to say just made it all amazing for me. I have to say I learned a lot especially about attacking my fears. Will talked about how he had a fear of crowds, so one day he walked into the Galleria mall, headed to the food court and asked for everyone’s attention. He said ” My name is Will Smith and you don’t know me now but one day you will.” That’s how he got over his fears and he also did that in high school as well just a different speech. He also said “your words have power over everything you come in contact with.”

In the movie you see how his son’s character “Kitai Raige” played by Jaden Smith has to overcome his fear of creatures while they are stranded on earth or else the both of them will die. Will Smith’s character “Cypher Raige” guides his son through a dangerous journey to recover their rescue beacon.

Growing up Will’s family delivered ice which I thought was interesting.
He also said he met Jada Pinkett Smith his wife and one of the producers of this movie on the set of Fresh Prince of Bel Air when she was auditioning for a part. He said she was pissed because the producers thought she was too short and that’s why she didn’t get the part. She told Will “Apparently I’m too short for you.” He said “he think he’s in love.” Sooo sweet. They dated a few years later.

He also said when he started rapping around the age of 12 he had a rap book with 4 letter curse words and his grandmother found it but never told him. He was flipping through it and there was a note he found from her saying “Dear Will, Truly intelligent people do not have to use words like these to express themselves. Please show the world that you’re as smart as we think you are. Love Gma”

My grandmother would have done something like that.
That letter made him make the decision to not use curse words. He said “It forced a certain creativity she introduced him to the idea to have a purpose behind your choices.”
He also said “You can get caught in randomness if you don’t lock on to a purpose of why you’re doing what you’re doing.” She gave him boundaries that gave him a goal, and focus, and essentially a mental game for himself of what he was doing in the world.

Will’s son Jaden says he’s 14 and he said he doesn’t want cursing in his rap music. He said he is not allowed but Will said him and his wife Jada never told Jaden he ‘s not allowed to do that.
He used a quote from Edward Kennedy’s biography where Edward’s father said ” As a family we have decided you’re going to have lives of value to the world. Now I respect if you want to choose a life that does not have value to the world. I respect that but I’m not going to have a lot of time for you.”
That was deep!!!

Will said that struck him and that idea is the basis of what they say with their children. They say “You have been blessed. It is your responsibility to live a life of value to others, not something that is steeped in ego gratification that is not why we do this, we do this to put things in the world that have value to other people.” Love that!!

Jaden said he had fun working with his dad. You could see the bond they have and how much fun they have with each other. Not to mention they all look alike. I guess Will never thought he would have kids following in his footsteps when he was acting on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He said he would like the whole family to be on the screen one day maybe like the Partridge Family, or Brady Bunch while the kids are still young. Jaden 14, Willow 12, and Trey is 20. He also said they have to work around Willow’s schedule. Guess she’s very busy. Lol

Jaden has a clothing line called MSFT rep. He said he looks at it as “he’s gonna start a company, but build it slowly, and it’s gonna be a learning experience for him and his friends and one day it’s gonna support their families. What 14 year old is thinking about opening any company to provide for their family? I thought that was great. He has a head on his shoulder and Will couldn’t be any prouder.
Will said “Jaden’s style comes from the courage to wear what you feel”. “Just be yourself, be bold, be brave, don’t care what other people think about it.” I totally agree. I like being different and standing out and don’t care who doesn’t like it. I teach that to my kids too. Our style is different.

Will said “It’s terrifying to raise children and to know how they turn out in the world is largely gonna be based on the things that you do right and wrong.”
He also said “You have to let your kids go. You hope that the seeds and lessons you planted are going to take the root and flower into their minds at the proper time when life gives them a challenge that you can’t control.”
I agree with Will 100%. Will and Jada are good parents in my eyes.

I had the pleasure of asking Will a question but I started out by saying he never ages and he looks good. He did the two finger eyebrow and mustache wipe and was laughing and blushing. I was happy I made him smile. My question was : How did it feel sitting in the background not doing the action part of the movie and letting your son take he lead? Will’s response : “It was really great for him. As an actor he said he’s loud, smiling, fun, always on 10. He said that’s his natural space. To play Cypher his character it helped him get in touch with another side of himself to have to go to stillness. Even a man who had disconnected himself from his emotions in that way was a really powerful exploration for him as an actor.” He said “it was fun but he’s 44 yrs old so he probably got 5 or 6 more years where his knees will work in action movies so he might have 1 or 2 more running
or jumpings in him.
I guess that’s where his son comes in and take over for his father. He’s very young and is the mini version of his father. He just proved in this action packed movie he can do it.

I just want to finish up by saying hubby and I enjoyed this movie very much and enjoyed learning all about the Smith’s and hope one day to meet the rest of the family as well and get pictures with all of them. I did not bring my kids to this movie I didn’t feel it was age appropriate for them. Enjoy the pictures.

@Epicthemovie #Epicmamarazzi My Review

25 May

My kids were happy to miss a day of school for the long awaited movie Epic. I told them Pit Bull who plays (Bufo the frog) would be attending as well and they were excited. This was an #epicmamarazzi screening thanks to @themoms. The screening took place Wednesday May 22nd at the Empire on west 42nd street at 11:00 a.m.

A lot of parents said they wish their kids would get to school on time the way they got to the screening early. My kids met up with their friends and were treated to free concession snacks and pictures with none other than Pit Bull and an autograph. He is very nice and wanted to give autographs for the kids and take pictures with almost everyone even though he was in a rush to another engagement. He said he was raised in a single parent home by his mom and encouraged the kids to listen to their moms and go for your dream.

Epic is a great 3D animation movie for the whole family to see and my family and I are definitely on the Leaf Men side. This ongoing battle in the forest between good and evil makes you want to put on your gear and protect the forest. Beyonce, Steven Tyler, and Amanda Seyfried were also part of the cast. I have to say I was in tears for a few parts but other than that it was great and funny, especially the slugs who had us laughing throughout the movie. All the characters were great!!

We had a great time and will see it again with our cousins.
Enjoy the pictures!

THE CROODS REVIEW

20 Mar

By now every household should know who The Croods are so I’m not going to write a whole blog about the movie but I am going to tell you how much my kids and I enjoyed it very much, and how we wish The Croods were our neighbors today. I need neighbors who are excellent hunters, survivors, fast on their feet, and know how to protect their loved ones by any means necessary. They could show me some stuff, and I could teach them a few things here and there.

The overprotective dad (Grug) is just being like any other dad. I like Gran and Sandy because they don’t play. Every character is fun in their own way.

I encourage everyone to see this 3D animated movie whether you have kids or not. I can’t wait for the DVD and I hope there is a part two. It is in theaters Friday, March 22nd with an amazing all star cast including Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Cloris Leachman, and Ryan Reynolds.

I’d like to thank Melissa and Denise of @themoms for the invite to this screening and for providing treats and gift bags for the kids. We also met with the filmmakers Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, and Catherine Keener the voice of Ugga after the screening.

My review of Oz The Great and Powerful

19 Mar

As a mother of 4 I enjoy taking my kids to the movies. I however am very selective when it comes to the rating because if it’s PG-13 I want to know why. I stick to the G rated a majority of the times and even though they have seen some PG movies I have regretted some because of the language or behavior. As you have seen in some of my reviews with my kids at the movies I highly recommended those and a lot of the broadway plays.

Hubby and I decided to take in a movie and decided to see Oz The Great and Powerful. I knew from trailers and reviews that this wasn’t your typical Wizard of Oz movie but I am so glad my kids didn’t see it. I was jumping in my seat and with 3D glasses on my heart was racing. My kids would have had nightmares with the faces of certain characters, and the sound effects so loud they probably would have wanted to leave. I enjoyed it but the 3D just made it so real and up close. We laughed enjoyed the amazing cast but I’ll stick to the original for the kids.

I enjoyed china doll, and the bell hop monkey characters. Of course James Franco and Michelle Williams did an incredible job. I would see it again but on DVD in my home. Just because a movie looks like it meant for kids doesn’t mean it always is. Parents should know what their kids can handle and what they should or shouldn’t see. Our kids rely on us to protect them. I’ve seen little kids in R rated movies and even infants and I think that’s just sad but I can only voice my opinion in my blog.

#EscapeFromPlanetEarth @themoms @Jane

15 Feb

I was invited by @themoms to the screening of Escape From Planet Earth with the hilarious @Janemarielynch held at the Dolby 88 screening room. May I just say this 3D animated family film is the best movie of the year. It just came to theaters today February 15 so if you or your kids haven’t seen it buy tickets this weekend because the kids have 4 days off. Brendan Frasier plays an astronaut hero named Scorch Supernova to the blue alien population on planet Baab. There were quite a few more celebrities in the film such as Jessica Alba, William Shatner, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sofia Vergara, George Lopez, Ricky Gervais, and the wonderful Jane Lynch who played lo a giant cyclops like alien.

Scorch Supernova is on a mission and finds himself set up in a trap by the evil Shanker. It’s up to Scorch’s brother Gary to save him, and the planet.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jane Lynch at a Q and A after the screening and she is just the best. She is down to earth and very funny and I enjoyed her character in the movie very much but I really enjoyed meeting her and getting to know her better.

We also were given treats by Perrier, Driscoll’s Berries, and Sangria.

MY FUN DAY AT ANDERSON LIVE AND AT SCREENING OF THIS IS 40. @ThisIs40 @AndersonLive #AndersonLive #AndersonLiveTweetSeats

21 Dec

I was invited to Anderson Live talk show here in Manhattan Thursday, December 20, 2012 to be part of 40 year old audience members who were either turning 40 or already 40. I turned 40 in October yeah hard to believe but I was excited to attend and took my sister along for the day.

It started with a special screening of the comedy film “This Is 40″which was shown at the Loews Theater on 68th & Broadway at 8:00 a.m. Whoever attended the screening got priority to get into the talk show ahead of everyone else.

Some people said they couldn’t get up that early for a movie, or they had to take the kids to school. I told them they missed an amazing comedy and I couldn’t stop laughing.

“This Is 40” produced and written by John Apatow is the spinoff to the sequel Knocked Up (2007).

This film follows the lives of middle aged married couple Pete and Debbie as they face challenges of their lives. They are dealing with turning 40, their jobs, and children Sadie and Charlotte who add stress to their relationship.

It is R rated so if you’re not into foul language, and sexual content then you know what to do. I on the other hand enjoyed this film very much.

The cast includes :
Paul Rudd as Peter owner of record label
Leslie Mann as Debbie shop owner
Maude Apatow as Sadie 13 yr old daughter
Iris Apatow as Charlotte 8 yr old daughter John Lithgow as Oliver (Debbie’s 65 yr old father)
Albert Brooks as Larry (Pete’s father)
Megan Fox as Desi (one of Debbie’s employee)
Charlyne Yi as Jodi (one of Debbie’s employee)

The other cast members are very funny as well. Charlyne Yi who played Jodi is crazy and played her character very well. She’s funny.
Everyone is mesmerized with Megan Fox character. I wonder why. Lol. You will see. Everyone that was in the movie did a terrific job and I couldn’t see anyone else playing their parts. Of course John knew what he was doing when he picked his wife Leslie and two daughters Maude, and Iris to play the daughters in the film.

I was excited to get to the studio and see Anderson of course but also some of the cast in person.
John Apatow, Leslie Mann,  and Paul Rudd, were on the show. Leslie was Anderson’s co host. John and Leslie’s two daughters who were stars in the film were in the audience as well.

The movie comes out today Friday December 21, 2012. Yes the world stayed around for you to see this movie, and the taping of Anderson Live comes on today at 12:00 on Fox5. They might show me in the audience.

Since this was Anderson’s last show for the season we were given $100 Visa cards, snow for the kids from Misfit toys, and a CD.

My sister and I had a great day and I recommend seeing this movie and requesting tickets to Anderson Live next season.
Enjoy the pictures below from movie theater and talk show.

Purple Carpet Screening Hub Playdate Premiere Party

10 Nov

When it comes to movie screenings my kids will make sure they are there if it’s somethings they want to see. When it comes to a Purple Carpet screening my daughter will be excited a lot more than my son.

We were invited by two of my favorite girls @themoms to a screening of the Season Premiere of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and the all new series Littlest Pet Shop today at the Gramercy Theatre.

Now just from me naming the title I’m sure you figured out my son was not interested in attending but he had no choice because he is 9 years old.

When we arrived after waiting on line we can entered and walked the purple carpet with paparazzi taking our pictures as if we were celebrities. The staff handed us hand sanitizers and when we walked in my son smelled the popcorn and my daughter saw the world’s largest coloring book that the kids had to color for the Guinness World Records.

They had face painting, photographers courtesy of Time Out New York Kids, balloon professionals, games, and snacks galore for the active and hungry kids.

Melissa Joan Hart was the host and did a wonderful job. Of course I took pictures. These two shows will be on @HubTVNetwork Saturdays at 10a.m.
I recommend them both. I liked the Littlest Pet Shop.

There was a family sitting behind us and the father was laughing harder than his kids. They were funny and we need more of these types of shows for the kids.

Even though my son didn’t want to go he still had fun. He had about 3 bags of popcorn, donuts, drinks, and he had his psp with him. My daughter didn’t want it to end, but once she got her gift bag and saw all the toys inside she wanted to hurry up and get home to play with them.

Here are some pictures from our screening
