#TheSecretLifeOfPets2 Movie Review

7 Jun

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood to see an animated film. I’m talking about The Secret Life Of Pets 2. We saw a a screening a few days ago and yes we loved it. We couldn’t wait to see all the characters return along with a few new ones.

Synopsis:

Max the terrier must cope with some major life changes when his owner gets married and has a baby. When the family takes a trip to the countryside, nervous Max has numerous run-ins with canine-intolerant cows, hostile foxes and a scary turkey. Luckily for Max, he soon catches a break when he meets Rooster, a gruff farm dog who tries to cure the lovable pooch of his neuroses.

Here’s the cast info: Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Dana Carvey, Harrison Ford, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Pete Holmes, Garth Jennings, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Bobby Moynihan, Patton Oswald, Jenny Slate, Eric Stonestreet

What do the pets get into this time? We loved the story line and the soundtrack. Chase scenes, fight scenes, drama lots of awesome and OMG’s. All ages will enjoy this movie and I encourage you to get your tickets now. Just got to say the baby puppies that Pops are training are adorable especially Pickles. Granny with all the cats is a bad ass. Tiffany Haddish character Daisy don’t play. Be on the lookout for a baby tiger called Hu. He’s so cute. There’s a farm dog called Rooster who’s straight to the point and not scared of anything. He’s cool!! We also liked the Turkey on the farm, he was funny. Of course Snowball, Gidget, Max, Mel, Chloe and Duke are always getting into something. That’s what makes the movie story line interesting and fun.

We’re ready for Part 3. My family and friends had a great time and we know you will too. Ten thumbs up.

Disney Aladdin Movie Review #Aladdin @disneyaladdin

23 May

My kids and I could not wait for a Disney Aladdin screening and we had the privilege to see it the other night. I also invited my friend and her son who were just as excited as we were.

Let me just start by saying we all want to see it again. That’s how much we absolutely loved it. From the beautiful bright color costumes to the Bollywood dancing with hip hop thrown in and the original songs that I was definitely singing out loud and learning the new songs as well. I loved Jasmine’s voice when she sung.

Everything was on point. The story line was the same with lots of funny scenes from The Genie. Will Smith made a great Genie. Mena Massoud you were amazing as Aladdin. Naomi Scott your singing was flawless and you made a beautiful Jasmine. The entire cast was incredible and did a wonderful job. Lots of memories from the original but we are feeling the remake.

My daughter and I want to take Bollywood dancing lessons. She also wants to adopt Abu. She also likes the part when Jafar got sent far, far away. My son liked when Will Smith appeared as the Genie and explained how the 3 wishes worked by rapping and dancing. I loved that part too and the party at the Palace. My kids, my friend and I couldn’t stop talking about how good Aladdin was. We were even singing in the streets on the way home.

Nasim Pedrad who played Handmaiden Dalia and The Genie’s love interest had us cracking up in lots of scenes. We can’t leave out the Magic Carpet, Raja and Abu. Give it up!!! I could talk about Jafar but he’s the enemy. Billy Magnussen who played Prince Anders was a cornball in a funny way. Not my kind of Prince but he played the part right.

So with all our thumbs we give it 10 thumbs up and that’s coming from ages 4 and up.

So if you don’t know Aladdin hits theaters tomorrow, Friday May 24 2019. Don’t wait. Get your tickets now!

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. This was a hosted event. I was invited to attend this screening with my family. Opinions are mine and my kids 100 percent as always.

Tips For Traveling On Carnival Cruise #PTHCarnival #CarnivalPartner

17 Oct

Ever swim in the ocean with stingrays? I did. Ever been bitten by a stingray? I have and just knew I was in need of immediate medical attention but after calming down I liked having a part of my flesh taken away. Sounds crazy weird but it was cool. To say I was in the water with all those stingrays is something I will always talk about. Scratched that off my bucket list. I also allowed a stingray to be placed on my back. It felt like a humongous wet, slimy mushroom. It was fun. Would I do it again? Hell yes!!!

Another fun part of my excursion was holding a baby sea turtle. He was wiggly. Cute though.

This was my 4th cruise and I’ve never done excursions. What the heck is wrong with me? Well one thing was excursions are pricey especially when you’re traveling with your entire family. It’s always good to do your homework ahead of time if you want to explore and find better bargains when you’re traveling with a lot of people. You don’t always have to purchase cruise ship excursions but I’m not knocking them.

This trip was taken due to the lovely ladies of Permission To Hustle Audrey McLelland and Vera Sweeney. It was our first PTH retreat. I was not passing this getaway up. It was a Carnival Paradise cruise to Grand Cayman and Cozumel Mexico with about 40 women and lots of learning .

I love Carnival ships so I already knew what restaurants were on board, what slots to hit and what activities and parties to attend. I was also my neighbors alarm clock. My two buddies from New York were my next door neighbors and I made sure they were up on time and ready for breakfast so we would be on time for our classes. Yes, work first then fun later.

Here’s a TIP: There’s 24 hour room service. I started my day with a fresh hot pot of coffee and a muffin, yogurt and fruit before I headed to breakfast with the girls. That helped while I patiently waited to head upstairs and have a hot meal like an omelet with the works, home fries, sausage and grits. I also asked for a pitcher of ice water so I could take my medicine. That saved me a lot of time and energy. My medicine had to be taken early so room service helped. Also, keep the pitcher or ice bucket and your housekeeper will refill it with ice for you.

I learned so much about social media, finding my niche, sponsored posts, apps and other goodies. The speakers were amazing. Made lots of new friends and memories. The part I loved the most was seeing Audrey and Vera taking notes, raising their hands and asking questions too. You learn something new everyday as I always say.

Dinner time was fun because we sat at a different table every night and interacted with everyone who attended in our group. We were also welcomed with live entertainment and serenaded by an amazing server. The food was delicious and the drinks were on point. The Carnival Hub App which I always download always come in handy because it shows you the daily activities. After dinner we would go to either karaoke or a 80’s,/90’s party or game night. Some of us headed to the casino. There’s also the Spa, pool, jacuzzi and water slides.

Yes every cruise has all you can eat food. Some restaurants charge but the majority of the ship dining is free. There are drink packages if you have to have soda or liquor. If not juices, coffee, lemonade, ice tea and water are free. You can also come on board with a 12-pack cans of soda, sparkling water or a bottle of wine.

TIP: Bring a fanny pack. This was very convenient and easy to use while traveling and on and off the boat. It held my I.D.’s, and or passport, credit cards and or cash and you won’t lose it because it’s around your waist the hold time. Also hard for thieves to go in or grab from you.

Here’s another TIP: A sarong/swim cover up is your friend. All the ladies were blessed with beautiful sarongs from Santo Wrap. I loved this wrap. You can dress it up or down. It dries quickly and is oh so stylish. Wear as a skirt, dress or just cover up what’s underneath. I’ll forever be a fan.

My next TIP: Always carry a small umbrella whether you think you need it or not. People forget it’s not just for the rain but a great way to protect yourself from that blazing sun. Still make sure you have on sunscreen and sunglasses (foster grant sunglasses were great). It really helps. I had a few friends who I gladly shared my umbrella with. It was a life saver.

TIP: I used to always overpack. That’s when I do 11-day cruises and didn’t care about paying a fee for my checked bag. Now that those prices went up I only take carryon luggage. I take a small luggage and duffel bag or backpack. I also carry less shoes and pack wisely. I don’t need my blow dryer because there’s one in the room. I iron all my clothes before I pack and I use TSA approved bottles for my toiletries. Also, ziploc bags are great for shoes/flip flops, medicine and used lingerie/underwear/bathing suits when returning. TSA won’t empty your bags trying to figure out what’s inside if they can see it through the ziploc. I also labeled my medicine so they would know it’s not a weapon and it was allowed in the carryon.

So these are just a few of my tips. Need more tips? Ask away. I’m ready for the next cruise and yes my kids did ask when they were going on another one. They are definitely keeping a count of how many I’ve been on and so far I’m in the lead. Family vacation planning in the works. I’m glad they love cruises too. Makes it easy and affordable. Now just to get them on a plane. They asked to go on a plane. Not a problem.

I really had an amazing time and i owe it all to when I first joined Twitter and met Audrey and Vera. They were my mentors and I wanted to be just like them. I joined all their Twitter parties and won quite a few. When we finally met in person at events they called me their BAD ASS MOMMA! I knew these women were my new BFF’s. You rock!!

Disclosure: I’d like to give BIG shoutouts to Audrey and Vera, Carnival and all the sponsors who were part of the swag bags, Jet Blue for getting me to Tampa and back to New York safe. This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are mine 100% as always.

NEW Launch: McCafe’s First-Ever Bottled Coffee #FrappeAllDay #summAhhfriday

25 Sep

I attended a Media Party with McCafe on The Spotify Rooftop for the launch of their ready to drink Frappes.

On August 3, 2017 long time Coca-Cola business partner McDonald’s announced that it planned to expand its popular McCafe coffee drinks to the beverage aisle in 2017 with three new ready to drink McCafe Frappes- Caramel, Mocha and Vanilla.

McCafe Frappes are made with 100% Arabica coffee beans and blended with real milk, sugar, natural flavors and other ingredients.

If you know me I always have some type of Caramel coffee in my hand whether it’s iced, hot, frappe, latte or what have you. All the flavors were good but my first choice will always be caramel. These are great on the go bottles but sometimes they don’t make it out of the house because I find myself grabbing one when I come home or first thing in the morning. I can drink cold drinks all year.

The rooftop party was fun. There were loads of Frappes, summer swag – beach balls, sunglasses, hats, beverage holders, food and DJ Vashtie.

McCafe Frappes are available in 13.7 fl. oz resealable bottles at grocery, convenience and mass merchandisers nationwide.

National Coffee Day (Sept. 29th) McCafé recently conducted a national survey and published interesting insights on adults’ love of coffee. For example, if only you had just a few minutes in the morning, would you brush your teeth or drink coffee?

Below are some fun findings from the survey:

Coffee over Hygiene – what do coffee lovers absolutely need in the morning? More than half (52%) of frequent coffee drinkers would prioritize drinking coffee over taking a shower

◦ More than a third (34%) of respondents said they would prioritize drinking coffee over brushing their teeth if they only had a few minutes to get ready in the morning

Perking up or Logging on?Half (50%) of frequent coffee drinkers would be more willing to spend a day without their smartphone than abstain from coffee for a whole 24 hours.

Better than Chocolate?More than half (55%) of Americans would give up chocolate before they’d give up coffee for 6 months

Coffee over Cuddles? While 31% of survey respondents said cuddling their pet would help turn around a bad morning, almost half (47%) turn to coffee to get a better start to their day.

How Much Would You Pay for the LAST Cup?New Yorkers would shell out the most $ for the last cold coffee on a hot day, they would pay $33! Chicagoan and Angelenos would pay up to $20 for the last cold coffee

New Exhibitions For The Entire Family @ Liberty Science Center & Ticket Giveaway #LSCSummer18 #ad

29 Jul

We headed to Liberty Science Center recently to check out their new summertime exhibitions: GROSSOLOGY, ARTHUR’S WORLD, DINO DIG & THE PLANETARIUM. Every time we go we enjoy ourselves more and more. This time GROSSOLOGY was our favorite. More for my kids ages. Don’t get me wrong all the exhibits were great but for teens and tweens GROSSOLOGY and The Planetarium hit it on the nose.

Nicely put by LSC here’s what GROSSOLOGY is all about: Based on the best-selling book of the same name, Grossology explores all the slimy, oozy, crusty, stinky questions you’ve always wondered but have been too afraid to ask. As you crawl and climb through the human body, and play games that reveal the secrets of boogers, vomit, odors, and more, you’ll find yourself saying “Ewww, gross!” in the best way possible!.

Become a dust particle and walk through a giant nose to learn about air filtering, mucus production, and more.

Climb a human skin wall with warts, hairs, and wounds

Visit the Vomit Center and learn the many reasons humans throw up, or the Toot Toot area to create different sounds that replicate the physics of gas.

Crawl and slide through a 30-foot-long 3D model of the digestive system.

We enjoyed the burps and belches station, the I.Q test game which my son beat me at, the digestive system, boogers boogers, gas attack pinball machine and the toot-toot area. They all were fun. We spent most of our time here.

Grossology is a premium exhibition for which there is an additional admission fee. June 30- Sept 23, 2018.

ARTHUR’S WORLD: In Arthur’s World, you’re invited to build a love of reading and learning through activities set within classic Arthur locations. Look up recipes and find something for D.W. to eat in the Read family kitchen. Explore life under a microscope and enter a spelling bee in Mr. Ratburn’s classroom. Pick up a book from the Elwood City Library. Make a video in the Lakewood School Auditorium and watch as you appear on a giant television screen!

My kids and I loved watching ARTHUR’S WORLD on PBS TV. This exhibit was fun. My daughter danced to the Arthur theme song on the green screen and crawled in a tent while pretending to have a sleepover. She also enjoyed being a student in class and a librarian as well. She always said she wants to be a librarian when she grows up.

Arthur’s World is included with general LSC admission. Experience it May 26 – Sept. 16, 2018.

DINO DIG: At LSC’s popular outdoor fossil site, you’re invited to uncover massive dinosaur bones by digging through 35 tons of sand. Look for more than 60 fossils, many of them replicas of those discovered in Montana by Jack Horner, the famed paleontologist who inspired Jurassic Park. You might uncover T. rex bones and teeth, an egg nest with a baby Maiasaura, a 6-foot-long Triceratops skull, and even a dragonfly fossil!

June 30 – Sept. 3, 2018.

The exhibition may be closed during inclement weather.

Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater To Worlds Beyond Journey Through The Solar System: you’ll tour the planets of our solar system – a tour that incorporates the latest information about the solar system as gathered by a fleet of robot probes. Travel from the hellacious surface of Venus, to the vast mountains and canyons of Mars, to the spewing methane geysers of Neptune’s giant moon Triton.

Before the film, a live presenter shows the audience where the planets are in the night sky that very evening.

This was amazing. Seeing the moon and Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars like that made me wonder who was teaching me this in school? If they showed it to me the way it was showed at LSU maybe I would have been more interested. Well one thing I know, we all were amazed. Definitely enjoyed this one.

Check their website for dates and showtimes. www. lsc.org

Show runs for 35 minutes.

There’s always something fun to do at LSC for all ages. And a hop, skip and jump from Manhattan. Check out all that awaits you.

GIVEAWAY: I’m giving away 2 tickets to check out LSC. Who wants to win?

Mandatory entry:

Must be following/signed up to my blog Five Little Words

Must be following my Instagram : @nilimo

LOL with Hotel Transylvania 3 Summer Vacation Review/ Q&A with Fran Drescher #HotleT3 @HotelT #hosted

13 Jul

Today is the day you’ve all been waiting for. Hotel Transylvania 3 hits theaters today and I’m sure tickets have already been purchased. If not I’d advise you to order yours now.

I love a movie that I can relate too, especially an animated one at that. Drac, his family and friends sail away on a much needed vacation aboard a cruise ship thanks to his daughter Mavis. This reminds me of the many cruises I’ve taken but more of the one with my kids. I love family vacations and creating special memories and bonding. We laughed from beginning to end.

Characters Wayne and Wanda the werewolf (husband and wife to 70 kids) are hilarious. If anyone needs a vacation it’s definitely them. Once they find out there’s a kids club it’s on. They don’t know what to do with themselves. I love it!!

We also enjoyed the fish (crew). They really made us laugh a lot. There’s so many fish. Me Tinkles is so cute. We need a dog like that.

Fran Drescher character is (Eunice) wife to Frank. Eunice keeps Frank in check but they love each other unconditionally. That hair though. Lol. Love her outfits too and she gets down doing the Macarena.

The first screening I saw there was a Q&A with Fran Drescher. She was pleasure to interview. She talked about how she got started in the business. If you check my Instagram @nilimo the igtv interview should still be up. Shout out to Sony for that fun filled day. The second screening was with family. We were treated to a great buffet breakfast and my family enjoyed the movie. I also loved the music (soundtrack) taking it back old school. We gave it a 10. I enjoyed seeing it the second time around as well.

Disclosure: Thank you to Sony Pictures Entertainment for hosting the best screenings and q&a’s. This is not a sponsored post. Opinions are mine and my kids 100% as always.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jif Snacks & Comedy at Caroline’s on Broadway #JifPowerUps #AD

2 Jul

I was invited to an exclusive event with Neil Patrick Harris at Caroline’s on Broadway in NYC. It was a comedy event that playfully pokes fun of the daily power struggles between children and their parents (which we can all relate to). Neil introduced a new line of Jif snacks. Jif Power Ups granola bars and clusters.

I cried my eyes out so hard with the improv actors who acted out scenes of the struggles we go through as parents with our kids. I have 4 kids so I’ve been through it all. The entire audience was cracking up. From potty training to car rides and everything else in between all I could do besides laugh was shake and nod my head to agree with scene acted out.

Neil Patrick Harris was a great emcee. Of course I got a selfie with him. That’s what I do.

The food and drinks were great and even though I’m not a big fan of peanut butter but I will eat it if it’s mixed with chocolate or strawberries. I enjoyed the Jif Power Ups granola bars. So many flavors to choose from. Just throw them in your purse, pocket, lunch bag or car. They are great anytime. Which flavor will you and your family try?

Check out Jif on Instagram @jifbrand and @Jif on Twitter and Facebook.

Spring Break Family Fun @OkemoMountain Ski Resort #MtOkemoEvent #hosted

9 Apr

Planes, trains and automobiles are just some modes of transportation you can take to Ludlow, Vermont where you come to heaven when you reach Okemo Mountain Resort. Oh what is Okemo? Just the best family ski resort ever!!!!

Actually Amtrak Ethan Allen Express (which is what we took) takes you to Rutland and it’s about another half hour to reach Ludlow. Okemo’s shuttle picked us up from there. Yes there is an actual airport there as well which will gladly fly you over. Driving is always another option. Takes about 4 1/2 to 5 hours total from NYC. Not bad at all. We were ahead of schedule on Amtrak. Thumbs up!! We love traveling.

The reason I’m telling you all this is because we were very grateful to have been invited by Momtrends to a much needed family getaway during Spring Break to this beautiful resort. When I say beautiful I mean my kids wanted to move there that’s how amazing it was. From staff, to service, to a gorgeous suite and plenty to do we were just smiling the whole time we were there.

We arrived a day ahead and was given a gift bag and a huge suite with a balcony, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, fireplace and it sleeps 8 to 10 people. I immediately took a video of the room and put it on my Instastories. We didn’t unpack, we headed straight to dinner, looked around, watched a little tv and then lights out.

At breakfast the next morning my kids quickly found out how good the pancakes were and ordered it everyday. Dinner was great too, we had the most tender braised beef you ever tasted. The salmon, wings and Mac and cheese were delicious too. Momtrends held a special buffet dinner for influencers Saturday night.

The first night we arrived my kids saw there were s’mores on the menu and that was a must have at least 3 times. The server brings it out in a mini oven with flames already lit and you roast your s’mores at the table with everything included.

Waiting for us in our room was the best gift from Cabot. A Cabot gift bag full of cheeses, cutting board and knife. I immediately went in and had the Colby Jack with crackers. Thank you Cabot. Cheese fans we definitely are.

There are two different pools. One is located in the resort (indoor/outdoor heated pools) and the other one is steps away in the Spring House behind the resort. In this building there’s a workout center, sauna, hot tubs, racquetball court, kiddie pool, exercise classes and yes ladies a spa!!

There’s also an Ice Skating rink in the Ice House which we went to with friends. My children enjoyed SnowTubing in the Jackson Gore Village.

The Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster was our absolute favorite. It goes up in the mountains and you can see the skiers/snowtubers in sight.

We loved it. You can ride alone or with someone and you control how fast or slow to go. Ages 3 and up can enjoy this year round.

The tent sale had the best sales ever!! Up to 50% off outerwear, skis, snowboards, goggles, accessories, kids clothing, etc I wish I could have purchased lots more. I found my daughter and I great goggles and other souvenirs.

Can’t forget about the Brew Fest. Lots of delicious beer to try, live band, yummy BBQ and a gorgeous day to enjoy it all. It was a packed scene.

There was an Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday and my daughter enjoyed finding quite a few eggs. Lots of kids had fun that day.

You might be wondering if went skiing or snowboarding. Unfortunately we did not this time. But I promise when we go back we will. We just wanted to enjoy other things and relax but I know for a fact it is fun when you go on the slopes. We’ve done snowboarding before.

I enjoyed the cozy lobby as well with another huge fireplace, lots of comfy couches/chairs and a bar as well.

This truly is the best place to visit. You will enjoy every second. Everyone was wonderful. Thank you to everyone who made his experience possible. Special shout out to Bonnie our host who picked us up and drove us back to the train and gave us a history lesson of Ludlow/ Rutland and Okemo. You have a great job and we love your driving and when you’re in NY let us know.
