OUR FIRST FAMILY CRUISE VACATION ON THE NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY TO THE BAHAMAS

25 Apr

Our first 7-day family cruise vacation on Norwegian Breakaway was successful. Thanks again to @themoms Denise and Melissa for giving us the chance to experience what will be one of many cruises for us. We counted down till we finally were in a cab on the way to the west side highway where the ship awaited. Seeing the ship up close is so amazing and we got to take the Peter Max special (a great artist) who delighted us with his art work on the outside of the ship.

Our ship was leaving at 3 pm so we left at 12 to get there early and check in. There were so many people. All of our luggage was the right size to be carry on so we didn’t have to check it in which was a good thing. Also, if you have a disability, health issue or handicap there was an express line. We also appreciated that.

After identification and luggage was checked the next line was to get pictures taken for cruise I.D.’s (freestyle cards) and get credit cards linked. The only mixup was my son and daughter I.D. Her name had his face and vice versa. Of course they wanted they’re own cards and we had to keep explaining the mixup but eventually they got used to it.

Finally we were on the boat finding our room and still couldn’t believe the day had finally arrived. We loved our room which had a balcony, 2 twin beds a couch that turns into a full bed and a bed that comes out of the ceiling that the housekeeper has to open with a key every night. We took turns sleeping on different beds.

My mother and sister who came down to wave us goodbye were still outside waiting for the boat to pull out. We could see them from our room and were waving once we left.

We did some unpacking and waited for instructions for the mandatory life boat drill. It lasted no more than 5 minutes.

Dear Diary:

Day 1: (New York)) Sunny 55 degrees Sunrise 6:38 a.m. Sunset 7:24 p.m.

You had your choice of a Guided Ship tour, then there was a Sailaway Celebration with cruise director JC Sanchez and his team on a high energy dance floor as we passed the Statue of Liberty. Next was a Family Welcome Social where you could meet your fellow cruisers for a family party filled with kid friendly foods (including Nickelodeon Slime Smoothies), ice breaker games raffles, music and more.

Since we left on Easter Sunday they had a Family Easter Celebration. There were so much activities to do on board. We had our first family dinner at one of the complimentary restaurants called Taste. Everything from Salmon, Shrimps, to Steak. ( my three favorite S words). Our family picture was taken by a staff member. Dress code for dining: Resort Casual and Shorts are allowed in all dining venues except the Manhattan Room, Ocean Blue and Le Bistro after 5:00 pm. Shoes and shirt must be worn.

Facial and acupuncture consultations for those that wanted, gaming lessons, spa raffle, karaoke, liquor tasting, game shows, lottery drawings, welcome aboard show and late night kids fun zone. Those were just some of the fun things to do.

So after we took in the sights and ate we explored and called loved ones while we still had a cell phone connection. We didn’t stay up all night because we wanted to get up early the next day and check out the buffet at the Garden Cafe.

Day 2: (At Sea) Partly Cloudy 60 degrees Sunrise 6:38 a.m. Sunset 7:33 p.m.

There was lots to do after breakfast. Ping Pong, Shuffleboard, Giant Chess Play, Rockettes Style Stretch Class, Yoga, Fitness Class and Indoor Cycling. We went for the Nickelodeon’s Art & Craft. We also saw the Rockettes. Dora the Explorer and Team Nick hosted a Dora’s Dance Party for kids. The Aqua Park opened and my daughter made sure to go in the pool and the water slides today. The boys played video games and enjoyed the courts. We also played the game show Deal or No Deal (that was fun) even though we didn’t win $5,000. Bingo was fun and no money but a scratch off gave us a dollar. Lol. I hit the slots later that evening. Much better.

We also participated in an Art Auction and seminar before the auction. Whoever attended the seminar received authentic art to take home. More fun activities to participate in were Soccer Tournament, Cha Cha Class, Wine Tastings, Dance Class with the Rockettes, Family Dodgeball, Carlos Cupcake Decorating Class, Karaoke, Bingo, Meet & Greet with Dora, 3D Movie: Big Hero 6, and Name that Tune Trivia to name a few.

For those who wanted a photo with the Captain Hakan Svedung they could do so in the Atrium (main stage).

For dinner we went with Seafood in the Garden Cafe. O’ Sheehan’s had BBQ Spare Ribs.

If you didn’t get a chance ahead of time to book your shows, restaurant reservations and excursions on Norwegians website you could do so in your room on the interactive tv. You could also check your Freestyle Card balance of what you spend. I loved these options and also see the menus of each restaurant and  see what you could order for room service. There is a $7.95 convenience charge added for room service might I add so unless you’re dead tired and can’t go out of your room then use this service. My advice is go to the Garden Cafe for free and bring food down to your room. Even at o’Sheehan’s you can bring food back to your room. Another great tip if you did order room service like we did one night ask for a pitcher of water and you get to keep that pitcher and use everyday to bring water back to your room. That saved us a lot of steps back and forth filling up cups and we used it at our table in the Garden Cafe too. Your housekeeper will give you ice daily.

These are the first two days I’m writing about. My next post will be about Florida and The Bahamas. Enjoy the pics!!!

Disclosure: This post is not sponsored. I won this 7-day cruise from @themoms  Opinions are 100% mine and my children as always.

ALMOST TIME TO CRUISE LIKE A NORWEGIAN #travel #cruise

4 Mar

My kids and I are so excited to get away from New York and head to the Bahamas on Norwegian, Breakaway Cruise Lines for 7-days. This was a blessing to win this amazing vacation thanks to @themoms from Twitter. I want us to enjoy every minute and really take in the sights and explore.

In about 4 weeks we will be saying Bon Voyage to this crazy weather and sailing to Paradise. I wish my oldest son could go but he has to work. He did go on a cruise when he was younger but would have been fun if all my kids were with me. Hopefully he can go on the next one. Oh, I didn’t tell you I won an 11-day cruise with another cruise line as well. That will be taken in 2016. Back to Norwegian. The Moms had an event where we got to go on the Breakaway Norwegian boat and see what it looks like, find out about all the activities and tour the rooms, taste the delicious foods and take in a few shows. The kids also got to meet the Nickelodeon characters. We had a great time and appreciated getting to see what a cruise ship looked like inside. My kids know exactly what they want to do on board.

We’ve been talking about the cruise ever since we won and now comes the hard part. PACKING!! I’m going to start a list and take care of the packing ASAP. I’m so glad we don’t have to fly to Miami. The Breakaway leaves from New York. Hallelujah!! I just found my passport and found out it expired in Aughst 2014. Ten years goes by fast. I went to the DMV instead and got an enhanced driver’s license that can be used as a passport. Problem solved. Now I have to get my 18 year old son one too. A fellow mom blogger told me to take walkie-talkies because cell phones don’t always work. That was a great tip. My other blogger friend said she will loan me the two she has. That’s so sweet of her.

Plenty of pictures will be taken so I’m glad I received my Lyve Home photo storage device that holds 1 TB of photos and videos. Whatever pictures or videos I take will be sent right to the device without taking up storage on my phone. I also won this device from another event The Moms had this year.

I’m also glad the kids will be on Easter/Spring break for the entire time we’re on the cruise and won’t miss school. After a rough winter with kids sick from colds and asthma, and myself being admitted in hospital with asthma this vacation couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m gonna soak up all the Caribbean sun and bring some back to New York.

One last thing, found great sales on summer clothes at Old Navy. So glad shorts, swimming trunks and flip flops are already in stores. I racked up for all three kids. Still need more stuff and will take care of that soon.

We will be CRUISING LIKE A NORWEGIAN!!!!!!

#SKYLANDERS & MORE NEW BALLOONS ADDED TO MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE

26 Nov

Big news from Skylands! Skylanders, the popular kids video game that brings physical toys to life, is taking flight in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time! Fan-favorite Skylanders character Eruptor will join the prestigious collection of balloons at the parade, marking a significant pop culture milestone for the franchise.

To re-create Eruptor’s smoldering physique, artists used more than 40 gallons of florescent paint and five barrels of glitter! The live broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. all time zones on NBC. A sneak peek of the Eruptor balloon can be viewed via the attached graphic rendering and through additional assets in the link below.

https://www.webcargo.net/delivery/view/id/7081919/dp/sBCAUXbv6blBsfRHQD/

Fan-favorite character Eruptor, who will be flying high above the New York City skyline, hails from deep in the underground of a floating volcanic island that launched his entire civilization to the surface after a massive eruption. He’s a complete hot head – steaming, fuming, and quite literally erupting over almost anything.

I had the privilege of covering the Macy”s Balloon Fest at Citi-Field in Queens one cold Saturday morning but it was all worth it. I got to see 6 new balloons that will be in the parade inflated and taken around the lot for a test run. It was very exciting. Usually I take the kids the night before Thanksgiving to see the balloons inflated on Central Park West but this was way cool. When you’re standing there and see how big they are right in your face and taken down its amazing and they are huge. I loved Paddington Bear, Skylander’s Eruptor and the Pillsbury DoughBoy the best. It was a great morning getting to see these new balloons first and be behind the scenes with the volunteers who have make sure they handles these enormous balloons just right. Hopefully the weather will hold up for the inflation of the balloons tonight and the parade tomorrow. I would love to take the kids to both events if weather allows us and food is prepared. Fingers crossed.

STARS ON PARADE
The star power on Thanksgiving Day comes courtesy of performers from music, film, sports, theatre and television. As they reach their marks on 34th Street, the nation will enjoy their spectacular performances. Joining the festivities this year are the Big Apple Circus, Before You Exit, William Blake, Sabrina Carpenter, Cirque du Soleil, Hilary Duff, Renee Fleming, Becky G., Lucy Hale, Nick Jonas, KISS, Sandra Lee, The Madden Brothers, Idina Menzel, Miss USA 2014- Nia Sanchez, MKTO, the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street, NEEDTOBREATH, NHL® legends John LeClair and Pat LaFontaine, Pentatonix, Romeo Santos, Cole Swindell, Meghan Trainor, The Vamps, Quvenzhané Wallis, and more.

Kicking off the march will be a special group of children who have embodied the Parade’s spirit of teamwork. Throughout their remarkable run this past season at the Little League World Series, Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons displayed an inspiring level of collaboration, spirit and camaraderie – as perfectly evidenced by the group’s embrace and support of star pitcher Mo’ne Davis. In honor of that exemplary effort this year the Taney Dragons will lead the procession down the streets of Manhattan with Macy’s Parade executive producer Amy Kule.

GIANTS IN THE SKY
The Parade’s signature giant balloons have for decades showcased the world’s most recognized characters. This year, Macy’s will introduce the biggest class of new balloons in its history. Six new giant characters will take to the sky including The Weinstein Company’s loveable Peruvian bear Paddington™; the always electrifying Pikachu™; the warm giggling Pillsbury Doughboy®; the vanquisher of evil the Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger; the lava spewing Skylanders® Eruptor; and the friendly locomotive Thomas the Tank Engine®.

Rounding out the ballooning line-up are returning favorites including Adventure Time with Finn & Jake, Diary of A Wimpy Kid®, The Elf on the Shelf®, Hello Kitty®, Papa Smurf, Ronald McDonald®, Snoopy and Woodstock, Spider-Man, SpongeBob SquarePants and Toothless of How to Train Your Dragon. In addition, the balloon cast includes new balloonicles (a Macy’s Parade hybrid of cold-air balloon and vehicle) of the famed-spokesduck the Aflac Duck and Cloe the Holiday Clown, as well as the return of the KOOL-AID Man. In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the film classic, balloonheads of The Wizard of OZ™ characters will also make a special appearance.

FLOATING SCENE MAKERS
Macy’s floating stages take to the streets bringing a collection of whimsical treats that transport spectators into worlds of fantasy. This year’s five new fantasy floats include Cracker Jack® Popcorn’s At the Ball Game; Sino-American Friendship Association’s Beauty of Beijing, Dora and Friends: Aventuras Fantasticas, GoldieBlox™’s The Girl-Powered Spinning Machine, and Pirate Booty®’s Treasure Hunt.

The returning float roster includes 1-2-3 Sesame Street; Big Apple; Bridge To The Future; Daytime, Play Time, Night Time Too…; Dreamseeker by Cirque du Soleil®; Enchanting World of Lindt Chocolate; Frozen Fall Fun; Goldfish® on Parade; International Cele-bear-ation Clock Tower; It’s All Rock & Roll; Marion-Carole Showboat; Mount Rushmore’s American Pride; On The Roll Again; Pep Rally; Santa’s Sleigh; The Smurfs™; Stirrin’ Up Sweet Sensations; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Tom Turkey; Waves of Conservation; Winter Wonderland In Central Park; and A World at Sea.

Who’s your favorite character or float? Do you attend the parade as a guest or as a spectator? Is this a tradition with you and your family? Do you prefer to watch it as a family on television?

#MomMixer HOLIDAY SHOWCASE WITH @CVS_Extra in PHILLY

23 Nov

Another road trip was taken to Philly with my kids and friend Geanine and her son for the Mom Mixer with CVS Holiday Showcase. This year it was held at The Franklin Institute which is beautiful. There’s so many exhibits to see. We love museums and getting our education on. We will definitely return to check out the Sesame exhibit (The Body), Yoga with Elmo, Kitchen Science and Body Worlds: Animal Inside Out.

As always Colleen @ClassyMommy and Whitney @WhitneyMWS know how to get awesome sponsors to come out and meet a room full of bloggers for a fun filled day to gear us up for the holidays.

It was rainy and cold this particular day but that didn’t stop us. The kids were just as excited as we were and I couldn’t wait to see lots of familiar faces and new ones.

Sponsors in attendance and or gifts in gift bags included:

It was a room full of gift and stocking stuffer ideas from toys, lotion sets, coffee mugs, chocolates, cookies, even the famous North Pole communicator. CVS had me hooked with their delicious cookies and candy from their Gold Emblem line. I even won the CVS North Pole giveaway prize pack. I love to sparkle on holidays and Stella & Dot had beautiful sparkly jewelry and accessories. Stride Rite has cute comfy boots, sneakers and shoes for little feet. Spaghetti Headz had their famous hair accessories for the girls. Mixed Bags Designs provided everyone with their awesome huge reusable colorful bags to carry all of our gifts in. Wicked Cool Toys always bring along cool toys for the kids like Vrum the toy box that children ride on. Toys are packed inside while kids take a ride. Hasbro News is one of my kids favorite. My Little Pony, Play-Doh, Nerf, Transformers just to name a few. We love our board games like Monopoly and thanks for giving my son Battleship. TeleBrands amazed me and my kids with their Wow Cups. These are spill-free cups. Every family with kids should have theses. Kids can jump, run, roll and the drink always stays in. Amazing! Paul Frank gave out cute t-shirts in the gift bags. Love Paul Frank! Just Play Toys knew what they were doing when they had a display full of Care Bears, Puppy Surprise, Doc McStuffins Walk ‘n Talk Doc Mobile and Doodle Bear Toys. My daughter was extremely happy to win the Doc McStuffins Walk ‘n Talk Doc Mobile. Mcdonalds was happy to show everyone fresh ingredients used in their foods. Rodan and Fields a skincare company came with samples of their products for softer lips and face samples. My son spun the wheel at Sahara Sams table and won a pass to visit this amazing indoor/outdoor water park located in Berlin, NJ that’s open all year. We need to be there right now. We also want to visit Diggerland the only construction theme park located in West Berlin, NJ. Love water and theme parks. Elmo even made an appearance for the kids.

I’d like to thank everyone who made this event possible. My kids and I enjoyed ourselves. Will see Whitney and Colleen next year. We also had to make a stop at Geno’s Steak for Philly steaks. Yum.

DRIVE SAFE! TOYOTA’S TEEN DRIVER SAFETY CLINIC (free) #TeenDrive365 #spon

17 Sep

Disclosure: “I am a member of the Stiletto Media Blogger Network. This is a sponsored post written for #TeenDrive365 and the Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinic. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own. For more information on the Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinic, please visit http://bit.ly/1nfUJ0e

When it comes to driving I try to be as cautious and safe as possible especially when my kids are in the back seat but anything can happen on the road no matter what so you have to always be prepared.

I want my kids to be as safe as possible on the road and Toyota is making that happen with their Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinic. Where were these clinics at when I was a teen? I was so nervous when I got on the road especially when going up a hill and driving on the highway but if I wanted my license I had to shake it off, pay attention and pass that test. I took driving test and lessons in NY and received my license in New Jersey when I lived out there. I was so excited, nervous and happy when i was taking the test and when it was all over and the instructor said I passed. I also feel even though you get a license it doesn’t hurt to freshen up on your driving because there are some people who just do not belong on the road.

I have 4 kids and I think my 11 year old is more excited about wanting to drive more than the other 3. He’s always talking about cars and how he can drive this one and what dream car he is going to have. I’m so nervous because I know how fast Ferraris, Jaguars, Bugatti’s and Lamborghini’s are. Yes those are on his dream list. Can you say OMG? Safety first is always on my mind.

I wish we lived in the country because fast cars don’t belong in the city. Every parent want their teen drivers safe and if I have to be that back seat driver I will be. I am so happy Toyota is here for our teens.

Come down to the interactive Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinic where they provide pre-drivers, new drivers and parents with car care basics to prepare for the road ahead. Other topics covered will be: Dangerous driving distractions and how to avoid them, communication and coaching tips for parents and teens and much more!

OUR FUN NIGHT AT THE @SIYANKS GAME #MC #sponsored

26 Aug

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consultingfor the Staten Island Yankees. I received tickets for the game as well as food vouchers to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

When summer comes my kids and I enjoy getting on the Staten Island Ferry and enjoying the sights and breeze. This time were we not only going on the ferry for the sights, we were headed to a baseball game to see the Staten Island Yankees take on the Connecticut Tigers. The game was 7pm and this was our first time at The Richmond County Bank Ballpark. If you don’t know the ferry is a short ride from NY and when we got off the boat the signs were easy to read and led us straight to the park which is a quick walk.

We had great seats and saw the players up close. The balls kept flying in our section. My son caught a ball. He was thrilled about it. My daughter caught a t-shirt and she was very happy. The food vouchers that were provided was able to get us chicken tenders, fries, nachos, hotdogs and drinks. We kept the souvenir cups to remember the amazing time we had.

The game was great. There was plenty activities to participate in with the cheerleaders and mascot. As the night went on the view was beautiful as the ballpark, ferry and NY skylines were lit up. It was as if I were a tourist because I couldn’t stop taking pictures. The moon looked amazing as my kids pointed out and said “get a picture of the moon”.

I will definitely add this ballpark to my list of summer activities with the family. Next summer the whole family will come out and enjoy a game or two. We’ve been to other ballparks but I like the fact that this one isn’t too crowded, seats are great from any angle, food isn’t expensive and tickets are inexpensive as well. I also love night games and the ferry runs every 30 minutes so you can time it just right when to leave.

We enjoyed ourselves and loved the fact that the Staten Island Yankees won the game. Everyone in the ballpark was having fun and my kids met other kids and they enjoyed hanging out with them and talking baseball. Since this was a night game we had sweaters with us recommended from a friend of mine who went previously because it can get chilly.

Games run all summer from the beginning of June until the first week of September. I encourage all families to enjoy a minor league game with their loved ones. Check out the info below.

7 Aug

It was family night at the IZOD Center for bloggers courtesy of the moms Denise and Melissa to see MARVEL UNIVERSE LIVE. The kids were so excited and we’ve never been to the IZOD so this was a treat. We did have a hard time getting there, however we put that behind us, made it on time and had a blast. We met some of the cast and the kids dressed up as their favorite characters and had props to use as well.

There was a buffet full of delicious foods such as chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, veggies, pretzels, cheese platter and drinks. The kids received goodie bags when we checked in. We loved the water bottles.

After taking pictures and stuffing our bellies we proceeded upstairs to our seats which were great seats might I add. Denise and Melissa opened up the show and our section full of bloggers cheered them on.

The show started with a bang. The characters were full of energy and the kids knew every character in the show. I was excited to see Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine and the Black Widow to name a few. They were all awesome. They got some fighting, acrobatic, flipping, motorcycling skills on them.

Lots of explosions, fire, dropping and flying from above and team work. This turned out to be a great show and we enjoyed ourselves and I know my kids would love to see it again.
It was great seeing everyone and I’d like to thank the moms Denise and Melissa for a fun family night.

THIS IS HOW WE #DOAC @VisitAC @Crowdtappers #travel #AtlanticCity

8 Jul

As a Crowdtapper I was invited to Atlantic City to #DOAC. Hubby and I drove down to enjoy overnight accommodations in Trump Plaza and a few treats Crowdtappers had in store for us. This was hubby’s first time in Atlantic City and I was glad he got to experience it with me. He was very excited and so was I because it’s been years since I’ve been. We arrived early and did some shopping in the Nike Outlet. Next we checked in, dropped our bags and off to gambling we went till it was time to meet up with everyone.

I love the slots and I can say I did pretty good. Hubby is more of the tables type of gambler but he also hit the slots too. After gambling in Trump we met with other Crowdtappers and staff and boarded the Jitney to the Golden Nugget for the H20 Pool Bar & Grill for a pool party cocktail reception with food included. Staff from Crowdtap welcomed guests and said a few words. Drinks and food were very good. The view from there looked like we were on the Marina. It was gorgeous. We also received our DOAC bag which included our Crowdtap wristband, itinerary, Jitney passes, and more!

The Golden Nugget Atlantic City, winner of the AAA Four Diamond award, is a premier resort destination located on the Frank S. Farley Marina. The entire property has just completed a $150 million renovation, taking on a fresh, modern look to include a high-energy casino featuring the most popular slot and video poker machines, table games, and poker room; nightly entertainment, new bars and lounges, stylish retail offerings, as well as Landry’s signature world-class restaurants such as Chart House and Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse; a luxury spa and salon; and H20 poolside lounge.

After the reception there was a group activity at DO AC Sand Sculpting World Cup Atlantic City Beach @ Pennsylvania Ave. (Near Steel Pier) or we could choose to be on our own. Hubby and I stayed in the Golden Nugget and gambled some more, but I did put up pictures of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners (left to right). After we finished we boarded another Jitney with the free passes we had in our swag bag and headed to dinner.

After a peaceful night at Trump Plaza we woke up and took a walk on the beautiful boardwalk and stopped for breakfast in Johnny Rockets but our breakfast consisted of burgers, shakes and fries. Yeah that’s how we do. We didn’t want the day to end so after check out we headed back to Golden Nugget and gambled some more. This should be our new job. Lol.

We had a great time and can’t wait to return and try different hotels. Thank you Crowdtap for making this happen. If you haven’t been to Atlantic City go.
