New Pure Leaf Bagged And Loose Long Leaf Teas, Daphne Oz & Tea Experts #PureLeafHomeBrew

21 Oct

In celebration of its new bagged and loose long leaf teas, Pure Leaf invited me to Talk Tea with chef, author and tv co-host Daphne Oz and also tea, wine and culture experts.

Alex White, Research & Developmemt Manager, Chef and professional tea taster started of the evening talking about his profession as a tea taster and the process of the teas. The process of how teas are picked at their freshest, rolled to preserve their freshness, chopped and dried for the most balanced aromas, then the leaves are blended by tea masters to ensure consistent taste. He also explained the difference between the cold ice teas and the hot.

Laura Maniec, World’s youngest female Master Sommelier and owner of Corkbuzz Wine Studio spoke to us about the similarities of wine and tea. The same language you use to describe wine you also use to describe tea. The raspberry and peach tea is like Pinot Noir wine.

My family and I have always been a fan of Pure Leaf Iced Teas and now I get the pleasure of drinking a hot cup of tea when I want. I always make time for me so this will definitely be a treat to try something new with all the amazing flavors.

Pure Leaf bagged teas are offered in seven varieties which include, Black Tea with Vanilla, Chai Tea, Green Tea with Mint, Iced Classic Black Tea, Iced Black Tea with Peach, Iced Black Tea with Raspberry and Iced Green Tea with Citrus. These come in 16-count jars.

Pure Leaf loose teas are offered in three varieties-English Breakfast Black Tea and Iced Black Classic Tea available in 4.7-oz. jars and Gunpowder Green Tea available in 5.8 -oz. jars.

Available on Amazon.com and in grocery, mass market retailers and select club stores nationwide.

I tried a variety of samples at the event and enjoyed them. I am a big Chai Tea fan so that was one of my favorites.

Lisa Boalt Richardson, Certified Tea Specialist and author of “Modern Tea: A Fresh Look At An Ancient Beverage” and “Tea With A Twist: Entertaining and Cooking With Tea” took us on a journey around the world to India, Kenya, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Did you know that Chai means Tea? So when you ask for a Chai tea you’re just saying ” Can I have a tea, tea?” I found that interesting and funny. In Kenya you will be served tea all day long so you have to politely say that’s enough if you don’t want anymore. Also, in Kenya the bigger the cup the better. If they serve you in a big cup you’re considered a guest. Indonesia has 17,000 islands. It would take me forever to visit all of them. Sri Lanka is located off the southeastern coast of India. A former British colony, Sri Lanka was called Ceylon before it became a republic and took on a new name in 1972. For almost one hundred years before that Sri Lanka produced the commodity it’s best known for today – a black tea that’s still referred to as Ceylon. A boy or young man who serves tea in India is called Chaiwala or Chai Wallah. They are everywhere in India, from busy urban street corners to hidden alleyways, at bus depots and railway platforms and walking through the train cars, along riversides and on footpaths when you need a fresh cup of tea, the chai wallah is always near.

Daphne Oz talked about how she loves her “Me Time” with a hot cup of tea. There’s something about tea that just relaxes you and the aromas just make the experience that more calming. Daphne also talked about her two children, spending time with her family members, cooking for the holidays and how you can cook delicious but easy, fast dishes so you can also spend time with your family. She also talked about staples to keep in your kitchen, seasonings, and how to prepare the juiciest Turkey for Thanksgiving using a cheesecloth, fresh herbs and butter. Yes I will attempt that this year.  Her recipes in her cookbook I will definitely be taking advantage of because I love cooking and trying new things. Daphne brought her Blueberey Tea Cake to the event and you talking about the moistest cake ever. I wanted to take it all with me. It was very good. Copies of her new cookbook “The Happy Cook” was in our gift bag along with Pure Leaf Teas and other goodies.

I learned so much about the process of teas and listening to the experts. I really enjoyed myself and taking a journey. It was as if I went on a vacation and came back an expert in teas myself .

Here is the recipe of Daphne’s Blueberry Tea Cake:

Blueberry Tea Cake

Pairs with Pure Leaf Black Tea with Vanilla

Makes one 9-inch square cake
2 sticks (8 ounces) plus 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature

21/2 cups all-purpose flour

2/3 cup packed light brown sugar

Kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch square cake pan with 1/2 tablespoon of the butter, lay down two sheets of parchment paper perpendicular to each other, leaving overhang to use as tabs to lift the cake out when it is cooked, and grease again with another 1/2 tablespoon butter.

To make the streusel, in a medium bowl, whisk together 11/4 cups of the flour, 1/3 cup of the brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Melt 6 tablespoons of the butter in the microwave. Drizzle in the melted butter and use a fork to stir the mixture together until large streusel-like crumbs form. Set the streusel aside.

To make the batter, in a large bowl, whisk together the remaining 11/4 cups of the flour, the baking powder, baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt. Set aside.

In a small bowl, stir together the sour cream and lemon juice. Set aside.

In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the granulated sugar and the remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar and 10 tablespoons butter and cream on low speed until the mixture is combined. Increase the speed to medium-high and cream until the butter is airy, about 2 minutes. Reduce the speed to medium and add the eggs one at a time, beating well and scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed between each addition. Add the vanilla and beat to combine.

Reduce the speed to medium-low and add half the reserved flour mixture, then the sour cream mixture, then the rest of the flour mixture, mixing until combined and scraping down the bowl as needed. Remove the bowl from the stand and fold in the blueberries

Scrape the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top evenly with the streusel and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, until a cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out with just a crumb or two attached. The top will be a rich golden brown under the streusel, and the cake will give springy resistance to pressure.

Use the parchment paper to remove the cake from the pan, then discard and cool the cake completely on a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve, or cover with a dome or plastic wrap for up to 3 days (though there’s no chance it lasts that long in your kitchen).

Tip: This batter works very nicely in a muffin tin, a loaf pan, or practically any baking dish. The cook time will vary depending on whether you use a dark coated pan, cast iron, or glass dish, so just keep an eye out for the golden brown top and springy texture to make sure you don’t overcook.

Six Flags Great Adventure Thrills By Day, Fright By Night

17 Oct

Fright Fest is still happening on the weekends at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson NJ. Every year I say I’m going to go but I chicken out. This year Six Flags invited bloggers to their Fright Fest blogger event. From 11-6 the kids enjoyed thrills by day. New Halloween harmonies by the Skeletones, Just My Rottin Luck, Trick or Treat Trail and Spooktacular Dance Party. My kids were so into the rides we didn’t get to see any of this. We went all over the park just enjoying the rides and food.

I kept saying I was going to leave before 6pm when Fright Fest starts but I ran into my blogger friends and decided to stay past 6 pm. I’m glad I did. Yes the zombies came out and yes me and my kids were running from them like crazy but it isn’t as bad as it seems unless you go inside the haunted houses. There are also scare free kid zones where you don’t have to worry about zombies. We survived our first ever Fright Fest and I’m glad my kids and friends were there with me to keep me calm.

There’s a New Cell Block 6 haunted maze, Blood Shed, Big Top Terror, The Manor, The Awakening and Dead Man’s Party: Graveyard Rock both offering new scares in a new location.

Here’s a full description:

JACKSON, NJ — The world’s first fully interactive, horror-themed virtual reality coaster gaming experience, a new haunted prison maze and four new, devilishly entertaining shows including the world-famous Lizardman headline the biggest and scariest Fright Fest® season in history at Six Flags Great Adventure. Weekends and select days September 16 through October 31, families can enjoy all of their favorite roller coasters and thrill rides plus family-friendly themed attractions with Thrills by Day and terrifying mazes, scare zones and shows during Fright By Night.

Daytime thrills are devoted to families. Guests can start their visit by dancing to Halloween hits at the Spooktacular Street Party, or catch the Just My Rottin’ Luck magic show staring Raoul the Duke of Deception beginning Sept. 25. New this year, Six Flags introduces “The Skeletones” a ghostly and charming acapella group performing bad-to-the-bone harmonies at the Wilderness Theater. Children under 12 can journey down the Trick-or-Treat Trail while meeting their favorite characters.

Beginning at 6 p.m., things take a drastic turn with the Fright By Night festivities. Swarms of decaying zombies, crooked clowns, freaks of nature and monsters of the night emerge in The Awakening parade, and then Dr. Fright unleashes these horrors into the streets. As the night creeps on, guests can enjoy one of three new “Monstertainment” shows, a new haunted maze, and fresh takes on park classics.

New and improved this season:

· New! Rage of the Gargoyles virtual reality (VR) coaster – Riders will use Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus headsets to battle demonic creatures in the world’s first interactive gaming VR experience on a coaster, Skull Mountain. Exclusively for Season Pass holders, active Members, haunted maze pass purchasers and owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note7. Must be at least 13 years old to wear Samsung Gear VR. Must be at least 44” tall to ride with an adult or 48” to ride alone.

· New! Bilkum, Burnham & Haugh’s Side Show Spectacular – World-famous Lizardman, Murrugun the Mystic and the beautiful sorceress Catalina Askew headline this jaw-dropping and heart-pounding freak show.

· New! The Donniker Bros. Worlds of Mirth – Dark and devilish clowns urge guests to step right up to this uproarious new performance packed with unseemly humor and ample shenanigans.

· New! Slash – Gallows humor meets unsettling, gory, hard rock violence as illusionists John Bundy and Morgan blur the line between reality and horror, premiering in Showcase Theatre. Suitable for mature audiences only.

· New! Cell Block 6 Haunted Maze – A prison on lockdown is overrun with strange and scary inmates desperate to break free. Guests wind their way through twisting corridors trying to escape before it’s too late. Extra fee to participate.

· Dead Man’s Party: Graveyard Rock – Dr. Fright and his friends take over a graveyard for Fright Fest’s signature song and dance production featuring many new Halloween hits and dazzling special effects with the help of celebrity choreographer Ashle Dawson. New location in the Movietown Arena.

Six free scares, eight Monstertainment shows, the new Rage of the Gargoyles virtual reality coaster and the park’s world-class thrill ride collection are included with park admission, Season Pass and active Membership. Seven haunted mazes require an additional fee. Fright by Night is not recommended for children under 12 and those who scare easily.

Holiday Of Play Top Picks For Tweens and Teens #weknowplay

10 Oct

Toy Insider Holiday Of Play had me very excited to see what toys for my tweens and teens will make it in our house this year. I don’t have little ones anymore so it’s all about Tech, Stem, Games, Drones, and my daughter still loves her dolls and dollhouses, Shopkins and all girly things in between. I love playing al types of games with my kids from video games, board games, puzzles and outdoor activities. I also play girly toys with my daughter as well. This time around I’m focusing on ages 9 and up.

One outdoor activity game we love are Nerf Toys. We can’t wait to try out the Nerf Rebelle Flipside Bow. This bow has two five-dart drums that flip around to blast 10 darts. Kids can pull the string back and release it to send each dart flying up to 80 feet.

Another outdoor game we will take with us as we are huge Nintendo and Mario fans is the Nintendo MarioKart 8 QuadCopter Drone. Kids can fly Mario’s R/C quadrocopter with anti-gravity mode. Features a six-axle gyro system for flight stability, a protective cage for the rotors, and 2.4 GHz technology for up to seven minutes of flight. It has beginner and advanced modes, and a rechargeable battery.

My kids will also love the Nerf Mastodon Blaster. The first-ever motorized Nerf blaster is ready for battle with rapid-fire speed and a 24-dart drum. Its massive size and shoulder strap make for epic battles and easy maneuverability.

Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition just made me wanna battle my kids and show them how I used to do it. This new nostalgia-fueled gaming system is a near identical, mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console and syncs directly to a TV. It comes with 30 NES games built-in, including Super Mario Brothers and Pac-Man.

Yes my kids still play Minecraft games so this Lego Minecraft Jungle Tree House will be fun to build and keep them busy for a while. Kids can build an awesome tree house using more than 700 pieces, then defend it from intruders. The set includes a trap door to lure in Creeper, plus a tamed Ocelot and Alex figure.

Why spend money in the salon when I could give my daughter a pedicure at home with the Shimmer ‘N Sparkle Real Super Spa Salon. This spa provides the ultimate pedicure experience when kids add water and scented spa fizz. It features a cascading waterfall, sparkling lights, and bubbling water, leaving kids feeling pampered and relaxed.

I was also amazed with the Bose Build Speaker Cube- A Build-it-yourself Bluetooth Speaker for Kids. My kids enjoy taking things apart and putting things together.

I also want Snuggles My Dream Puppy from Moose Toys. This puppy looks so real and we just want to snuggle with him. Best thing about it I don’t have to clean up behind it or walk it. My kids want a puppy. Here it is.

These are just some of the games and toys that were featured at the Hokiday Of Play event. To learn more about all the toys please click here: http://www.thetoyinsider.com/2016-holiday-gift-guide/

Disclosure: I was invited to attend Holiday Of Play. Thank you for the invite from The Toy Insider and the fun time. Opinions are mine 100%.

Mom’s Night Out With Momtrends And Amazing Products From 5 Wonderful Brands #ad

5 Oct

Momtrends hosted a much needed Mom’s Night Out event in the penthouse down on Prince Street in NYC. Drinks greeted everyone as they walked in and we were led to the rooftop where the we took amazing pictures with gorgeous views. Inside the penthouse brands set up their tables with fun DIY projects to keep us busy for the evening.

Before I headed to the stations I chowed down on Earth’s Best organic food, snacks and fruit cups. I tried the stuffed pretzels in two varieties: pizzas and cheddar cheese. The stuffed bites broccoli, kale and cheese were very good. The yogurt smoothies, snack bars and chocolate chip cookies were great too. Our gift bags had some as well that my kids enjoyed.

For 30 years, parents have trusted Earth’s Best to provide organic nutrition for their babies. Now Earth’s Best is taking those same wholesome ingredients and offering nourishing meals for older kids.

Earth’s Best – http://www.EarthsBest.com

There was also catered food like steak, shrimp, chicken, vegetable summer rolls, mini sandwiches, stuffed bacon potatoes and small desserts. Everything was very delicious.

I started at Quaker’s table as my family and I are big fans of their Quaker bars and oatmeal. We were asked to write on a board and finish this sentence: “If I had an extra hour in the morning I would……., Well like I tell everyone I’m up at 4am every morning so I can have those extra two hours in the morning to prepare and have me time before the kids are awaken.

Ball Mason jars were handed out to make overnight oats that could help with that extra hour in the morning. No rushing to prepare breakfast because with the help of Quaker it’s so easy to make and healthy. I’ve been a oatmeal fan for years and always pack Quaker snacks for the kids lunches. They’re great anytime of the day. I also love adding different toppings to my oatmeal like fruit, honey and cinnamon.

Overnight Oats are a quick, easy, delicious, breakfast:  1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup oats, top with your favorite ingredients, refrigerate overnight, and enjoy in the morning!

The next table was Philips Avent . At this station I was able to make a gift for a pregnant mama or a parent who could use a few pacifiers, bottles and sippy cup. Their bottles are BPA free and have a natural latch on nipple, anti-colic valve grows with your baby from breast feeding to cup. Love the pacifiers that look like animals. In between breastfeeding my kids I used Phillips Avent bottles and pacifiers and my kids enjoyed them.

Philips Avent, the #1 reusable bottle brand and pacifier brand in the US, helps give babies a healthy start in life for a healthy future.

Philips Avent recognizes that feeding sets the stage for both emotional and physical growth, while ensuring that these Nourishing Moments are done right.

I headed to the Clorox station to decorate a container of Clorox disinfecting wipes. I chose the plaid design and added flowers and shimmer. It looked very springy. I know we are in the fall season but I don’t want summer to end. I also don’t want the flu season to begin and so I’m glad Clorox has been around for so long helping families kill 99.999% of bacteria. We trust in Clorox 100% as we are germaphobes and sterilize everything. I also enjoy sending the teachers loads of wipes for school as it seems kids get more colds from there. Stock up now and prepare ahead of time.

Clorox – http://www.Clorox.com

The final station of the evening I absolutely had to check out was Glad. At this table you could make your own scented body lotions. This was amazing!! I’ve never made body lotion before and I got to choose scents like: lavender, coconut, vanilla and lemon. I chose the lavender and lemon combo. I added a few droplets of each scent to my lotion and the rest is history. It smelled wonderful. My kids even put some on when I got home.

These scents are found in Glad kitchen trash bags. Keep your kitchen clean and neutralize odors with bags that combine Glad OdorShield and Febreze Freshness with Gain Original Scent. Only Glad with Febreze neutralizes odors for up to 5 days – guaranteed.

Provides continuous odor neutralization and leaves behind the fresh original scent of Gain
Reinforcing bands help add strength while saving plastic

Strong drawstring makes closing and carrying easy

Available in 13-gallon size

Glad has been a part of my family for decades and it’s good to see them bringing more to the table with their amazing products that also include food storage which I absolutely must have in my house at all times for school and work lunches, road trips and storing food in the refrigerator.

There was a raffle and I am proud to say I won the biggest prize of the night from Glad. A years supply of products. I am very grateful and as a fan of Glad I will get great use out of everything. With a large household it’s good to have plenty of stock on kitchen bags and storage containers.

Weekend Family Fun in Philly With The 2016 Toyota Rav 4

28 Sep

I enjoy car loans and test driving around the mean streets of New York and going on weekend getaways and road trips with the family. The Toyota 2016 Rav 4  SUV showed up and I fell in love immediately with the size, the interior design and the color. If you’re from New York you know how bumpy the streets are. With the Rav 4 you don’t feel a thing. Smooth driving all week was what I was doing.

When a car is delivered for a review it comes with a full tank of gas. I received it on a Monday and drove around taking care of errands and school drop offs with the kids. That Saturday was our family road trip to Philadelphia for a blogger event. Before our event started we toured the streets of Philly and the Museum. We made sure to get our Philly cheesesteaks and headed to the hotel after our event ended. We stayed the weekend in Philly and drove home Sunday. That full tank of gas got us there and back and I filled up a half tank in Manhattan for about $15. Can you say amazing? An EZ Pass also came with the Toyota Rav 4 courtesy of the company. That saved us a lot of money on tolls and we were very appreciative of that bonus.

The Toyota Rav 4 is very comfortable and the heated seats kept us warm that chilly morning. I love the cup holders, in front and back, leather steering wheel, power moonroof and ECO Mode that helps maximize fuel economy. RAV4’s standard backup camera displays a real-time view of what the camera sees behind you on the 6.1-in. touch-screen display on the dash. Always great to have.

The Entune Audio Plus system with Connected Navigation is standard on XLE and SE and ready to help you find your way. RAV4 is now equipped with the Scout GPS Link App, so simply pair your cell phone to get turn-by-turn directions.  I was happy to use this which came in handy.

We left New York with 2 bags in the back and came back with loads of things. The trunk was full and the cargo space was perfect for all of our goodies.

We give the Toyota 2016 Rav 4 eight thumbs up. Even though I have a big family and if I ever purchase a car or SUV I would need more seats but if I’m purchasing for myself this would be first on my list. I enjoyed driving and the kids enjoyed being back seat drivers. We miss it already and hope to drive it again.

24 Aug

The Moms held their Back To School Bash at 100 Barclay Street. They also had their live Sirius XM Stars Show and I was happy to be a part of it on the 25th floor with beautiful views. The Back To School Bash was held in the lobby of 100 Barclay. Sponsors included Fruit Of The Loom, Subway, Chobani and Kidbox.

We are fans of Subway and Chobani. Back to school lunches will be healthy with these two. There are so many varieties to choose and I love that my kids eat healthy. Well some of the time. As long as they get their veggies and fruit I’m happy. Have you seen the Siracha Mango Chobani? Love Greek yogurt. We love Chobani Kids and Adult products.

Fruit Of The Loom has been a favorite of mine for so long now my kids use them. From t-shirts to underwear Fruit Of The Loom knows exactly what parents and kids need. Comfortable and great quality which never shrinks or stretches out of shape. I love the new Breathable underwear for women. National Park Foundation Celebrates At Brooklyn Bridge Park #FindYourPark #ad

24 Aug

National Parks Day celebrated their 100th birthday August 22nd at Brooklyn Bridge Park and we were invited to join in the fun and partake in all the activities.

The National Park Foundation and National Park Service, Bill Nye and Questlove celebrated the 100th birthday of the National Park Service on Monday, August 22nd. In partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park and One World Trade Center for the celebration, for the first time ever, New Yorkers worked together on a giant digital circuit board to control the color of the lights of One World Trade Center’s spire. The celebration featured music by Ramblin’ Dan, Questlove and a surprise musical performance.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of those parks that you could spend hours at because of the beautiful skylines, boats, restaurants and all the fun your kids can have there. Definitely a tourist stop and any picture you take there is beautiful. My son took some amazing shots.

The first thing we did when we arrived was got free ice cream from The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. From 1:30-3:30 free cones or cups of ice cream were given. My kids and I enjoyed that very much.

We met up with more bloggers and Melissa Musen Gerstein from (The Moms) to explore. My daughter made a sand necklace and took home coloring books. We also spun the wheel and answered trivia questions about history and won prizes.

Next we took a group photo then headed to the entertainment. Ramblin Dan and the Freewheelin Band did a wonderful job with his songs keeping the kids and parents on their toes. I couldn’t stop singing and dancing. This band is a husband and wife duo. I would attend any event/party they are performing at.

Park Rangers took visitors on tours and took pictures with those that requested. It was a beautiful day to just enjoy whatever was going on. Even celebrities came by to show their support.

Here’s the schedule of events:
1:00 PM: Event opens to the public

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM: Free scoop of ice cream at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

2:00 PM – 2:45 PM: Ramblin’ Dan & the Freewheelin’ Band at the stage

3:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Smart Parks Game Jam at American Express tent

The Park Exchange event series are designed not only to celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th birthday throughout the summer, but also to bring parks to life in unexpected places throughout the country.

There are over 400 national parks, even in big cities across the country. Join us in celebrating this historic moment and come #FindYourPark, o mejor dicho #EncuentraTuParque, in Brooklyn Bridge Park!

I Worked Out With WWE Divas At TapOut Fitness

23 Aug

I’ve been doing pretty good this year with keeping track of my walking over 10,000 steps a day, getting checkups, taking care of my health and body. I’m not perfect and still have a way to go but I decided to take on a few new classes like spin classes, yoga, and meditation.

I love exercise classes in the gym or the privacy of my home. I’ve also been waking up at my normal 4am and getting my workout on. I love it!

I attended an event August 19th at Tap Out Fitness in Harlem with WWE Divas. It was great! They each gave us tips and showed us their workout routines. It was easy then got hard but I kept at it. I didn’t give up. It’s even more fun when you’re with your friends and you get and give that support.

Days later I couldn’t even walk. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Definitely. E! News Anchor, Maria Menounos also told us how she lost 40 pounds and has an amazing cookbook.

This special demonstration showcased how ever-improving solar energy technologies, smart energy management and storage systems, cloud computing, and eco-friendly products are making zero-energy consumption possible.

Basically, Skynergy is an installation that has been created from a standard shipping container that will actually serve as a -bicycle station, which will be run by the US bicycle rental and tour company Bike And Roll. On July 12, 2016, a handover ceremony was held jointly with the GTPO; Bike And Roll; the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in New York; New Jersey Board of Public Utility, project partners UL and Asolar; and major manufacturing partners from Taiwan.

As a self-contained, self-sustaining power station, Skynergy is well suited to support disaster relief and humanitarian efforts, as well as various residential, retail, or recreational purposes, in places where power is unavailable. In addition, since it is housed in a standard shipping container, Skynergy is easy to transport via land, air, or sea.

Skynergy runs on high-power photovoltaic panels. For the NJ project, it features a photovoltaic module on the rooftop area of the container. These panels feed the station’s grid with electricity, with any excess electricity then stored in the onboard batteries, which are compact chambers of lithium-ion battery packs.

The station has also installed a hydrogen fuel cell to provide reliable backup power, in case of blackouts. Under normal conditions, the hydrogen fuel cell self-refuels, when a supply is maintained through the solar-power source. In total, this fuel cell can provide more than 8 hours of back-up power while operating at its maximum output.

Additionally, with the help of a smart-energy-management system, cloud-monitoring technologies have been implemented to help ease the burden on administrators who must face the challenge of overseeing the central control of scattered equipment. This helps to create fast and more efficient workflows between devices, which boosts productivity and saves energy.

In addition to consuming zero-energy from the grid, the station also features several innovative green products of note, such as an insulation coating; an energy-saving film for windows; solar bricks; a stone-like surface coating; floor mats made of recycled tires; and luminaries made of materials from discarded computers, among many others.

I Celebrated National Tequila Day With Patron & “Art Of Patron” Bottle Art Contest

10 Aug

I celebrated National Tequila Day in July with Patron and tons of tequila fans and had an amazing time. There were plenty of cocktails to try and interactive mixology stations and food stations from around the world. I enjoyed trying oysters for the first time and creating my very own Bloody Maria drink garnished with shrimp, crab legs, celery and bacon. There were even pina colada ice pops that were so good. Everything was great, company, food, drinks, music and staff. Patron outdid themselves and gave everyone a great party at an amazing venue and can’t wait to see what they’re gonna do next year. Thank you Patron for an awesome party.

Patrón tequila proudly announces the third edition of the “Art of Patrón” Bottle Art Contest, celebrating unique creativity and artistry – for the chance to win $10,000.

Over the years, the iconic Patrón glass bottle has become a symbol of the brand and its premium craftsmanship, and has inspired countless artists – professional and amateur alike – to transform the Patrón bottle into handmade visual and functional arts. The “Art of Patrón” Bottle Art Contest celebrates this consumer enthusiasm by encouraging people across the U.S. to share their artistic vision, using Patrón’s signature bottles as inspiration.

“People often tell us that empty Patrón bottles, and even our distinctive round corks, are just too beautiful to throw away. As a matter of fact, thousands of images of Patrón bottles transformed into interesting and unique art pieces have been posted on social channels and online,” said Lee Applbaum, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Patrón Spirits. “At Patrón, we perfected the craft of making high-quality tequila, and designing a recognized bottle – the ‘Art of Patrón’ Bottle Art Contest is an opportunity for people to now perfect a second life for those iconic bottles.”
Past “Art of Patrón” Bottle Art contest entries have included such pieces as a chess set, spectacular artworks and wall hangings, striking light fixtures, gorgeous jewelry, functional furniture, and other awe-inspiring designs. Last year’s contest winner, Rebecca Stoneback of Asbury Park, N.J., was selected for her entry “La Abeja,” a stunning necklace representing the 60 hands it takes to produce one bottle of Patrón tequila. She created the piece by melting and sculpting glass from a Patrón Silver tequila bottle into 60 abstract beads and then molding metal bee wings – representing the Patrón bee logo – around a small glass vial at the center of the jewelry, which she filled with – what else? – Patrón tequila.

To enter the 2016 Art Of Patrón” Bottle Art Contest:

Create an original work of art or functional item that contains, is made from, or depicts any Patrón bottle or component thereof
Visit ArtofPatron.com and follow the links to the Bottle Art entry page

Upload a photo and a short essay (100 words or less) describing the artwork and the inspiration behind the piece

A panel of judges will help select up to 10 finalists based on overall creativity, unique use or representation of the Patrón bottle and components, visual appeal and the persuasiveness of the essay. Finalists will be featured on the Art of Patrón website for public voting, and then one lucky participant will be selected as the Grand Prize winner. The winner will be awarded $10,000 and an opportunity for national exposure for his or her work of art, while the remaining nine finalists will each receive $1,000.
