Staying Fit & Healthy With Crunch Fitness

21 Feb

I’m on a 60 day diet and what better way to take care of my body by eliminating unhealthy foods and getting my workout on at none other than Crunch Fitness Gym. My number one workout I love is definitely walking. I walk over 10,000 steps at least 5 or 6 days a week, but something about working out in a gym with lots to offer like aerobic classes, yoga, pilates, swimming, saunas, indoor track, basketball and the best state of the art equipment. I also prefer a gym that’s not too crowded but if it is I must have access to the equipment without having to wait.

What I love about Crunch Fitness is they’re all over. The newest location is 1131 3rd ave (66th st) in Manhattan. Now that I have a very busy schedule it’s good to know the hours so I can add in a few classes before or after work. I like the fact they open 5 a.m. Mon-Friday and close late. Check the website for locations and full hours. https://www.crunch.com/locations/e-66th-st

I’m aiming to lose a few pounds and I was given a free membership for a month and can’t wait to get there and try everything.    You can make online class reservations, there’s also online nutrition program, live video workouts, personal trainers, full service locker rooms and free wi-fi. My kind of gym indeed.

Disclosure: I was invited to attend classes at Crunch Fitness with blogger Brianne Manz from (Stroller In The City). Opinions are mine 100% as always. Swag was given from sponsors which included Living Proof Dry Shampoo, Bliss Spa, Ounce Water, KIND bars, Purity Organic Juice, Just Salad, Boom Boom Brow Bar, Enlightened Snacks, and of course, Crunch Fitness.

I Worked Out With WWE Divas At TapOut Fitness

23 Aug

I’ve been doing pretty good this year with keeping track of my walking over 10,000 steps a day, getting checkups, taking care of my health and body. I’m not perfect and still have a way to go but I decided to take on a few new classes like spin classes, yoga, and meditation.

I love exercise classes in the gym or the privacy of my home. I’ve also been waking up at my normal 4am and getting my workout on. I love it!

I attended an event August 19th at Tap Out Fitness in Harlem with WWE Divas. It was great! They each gave us tips and showed us their workout routines. It was easy then got hard but I kept at it. I didn’t give up. It’s even more fun when you’re with your friends and you get and give that support.

Days later I couldn’t even walk. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Definitely. E! News Anchor, Maria Menounos also told us how she lost 40 pounds and has an amazing cookbook.

First Time Walking Across Brooklyn Bridge Using Runkeeper App

24 Oct

Momtrends and Runkeeper (health & fitness app) teamed up together to invite a few bloggers to run/walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I’ve always wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge but never got around to doing it so I said this would be a great time to scratch this off my bucket list and get fit at the same time with a bunch of colleagues. I also wanted to use the new & improved Runkeeper app and track my status.

We met Thursday morning in Brooklyn in our baby blue Runkeeper t-shirts and with my iced coffee in hand some of us ran and some walked across the bridge. I also periscoped some of my journey. You know if you’re walking with someone and talking and taking pics it doesn’t seem as far as you think. I just walked from one borough to another and back again. How cool was that?

I have my Runkeeper app hooked up to my Spotify so I could hear music but I was acting like a tourist in my own city that I didn’t even have time to listen to my music. The Runkeeper app tracks your workout in real time and let other runners become your running buddy and we could see each other’s progress and also check your running history. It’s a cool app. It also has GPS.

After our run/walk we headed to Almar restaurant in Brooklyn (Dumbo) for lunch. It was great. We were given a gift bag with goodies and I felt good. I think I will walk the bridge again. This time I will do it with my kids.

Thanks for a great morning on a beautiful 70 degree day. Now go download the Runkeeper app in the App Store and get out there and run!!!

Disclosure: This is a compensated post however opinions are mine 100% as always.

Fiji Water & Momtrends Had Me #FijiFit

9 Aug

Momtrends invited bloggers to a morning of fitness with Fiji Water at Peloton Cycle on West 23rd in NYC, August 6, 2015. We were going to cycle for thirty-minutes and learn of a top secret announcement from Fiji Water.

I never took a indoor cycling class in my life. I’ve always avoided those type of classes because it’s non-stop up and down and working your legs. Yeah, I’ve been on bicycles and bikes in the gym but I get to control those. This was more like crank that level up to 40 and up and down. You talk about sweating. I’m still sweating just thinking about it while writing this post. Lol. Sometimes you need someone to kick your butt and tell you “come on you can do it!”. Especially when your doctor says exercise everyday. I wouldn’t mind taking more classes. I enjoyed with with my friends very much and my Fiji Water kept me hydrated throughout the class. Cody Rigsby our instructor was great and the class is streamed live. I also shot a Periscope of the workout before the lights turned out.

Fiji Water has always been me and my family’s favorite water. I am telling you the honest truth. I’ve always liked the bottles. It stands out in the store and it tastes great! So, you know when I here’s there was a secret announcement I had to know what it was.

Fiji Water has changed the look of its bottle with a narrow bodied shape by offering a 700ml bottle. How cool is that? It fits easily in strollers, car and equipment fitness cup holders. Slim looking bottle but still tastes great. I love the new shape. My kids immediately each grabbed a bottle and also noticed the difference and said they liked it and wanted more. Fiji Water it doesn’t matter what shape you come out with my family and I will always be your biggest fans.

Nicole Feliciano of Momtrends said to “pencil exercise in your schedule/calendar at least two to three times a week”. Grab a friend and have fun!

It was an awesome morning followed by a healthy delicious brunch. Love the gym bag that was given filled with Fiji Water and healthy snacks. Fiji Water is sending everyone that attended a 2 month supply of water and one of my readers will also win a 2 month supply so stay tuned on how to enter. Thank you Momtrends for a great #FijiFit morning. I needed that.

Dove Advanced Care Deodorant Multitasks for 48-Hour Protection

19 May

Dove Advanced Care Deodorant hosted an event with fashion stylists Wantable and Dove dermatologist Dr. Ellen Marmur on May 13th in The SoHi Room at the Trump Soho. They highlighted the latest multi-taskers making waves in fashion and beauty and wanted to help attendees upgrade our wardrobe and skin care this season.

After a magnificent lunch and few words from the stylist and dermatologist we were led to test out the new Dove deodorant on the back of our hands. Dove Advanced Care Deodorant also multitasks by preventing wetness and odor, moisturizes, smooths, softens and protects for 48 hours. Moisturizing isn’t just for your face. Underarms need it too. There are 13 different scents. I’ve always been a big fan of Dove because of the protection, prices and fabulous scents. #LoveAtFirstSwipe was the hashtag of the event and now I see why. You will love it and your underarms will thank you. Next, stylists took us around to different stations where we had the chance to choose the right athleisure wear look to help us get the most out of our on-the-go wardrobe.

I loved all the stations but I couldn’t take them all home with me. I think I made some great choices from leggings, accessories, top, to a light jacket. Wantable has ready to wear fitness and apparel. They took time with each attendee to make sure we liked what we picked out down to the accessories.

Here are your 13 Dove deodorants: Which scent would you choose?

NEW Original Clean – A light, Clean Classic fragrance

NEW Powder Soft – Warm, Floral Powder fragrance

Nourished Beauty – Nutrium Moisture

Cool Essentials – A refreshing burst with Cucumber and Green Tea

Beauty Finish – Radiant scent inspired by a beautiful touch

Revive – A energizing scent of Pomengranate and Lemon Verbena

Clear Tone Sheer Touch- Calendula and Sunflower seed oils

Rebalance – A scent of Plum and Sakura Blossom

Shea Butter – Refreshing Floral scent

Sensitive –.Unscented

Caring Coconut – A light Coconut scent with Jasmine Floral notes

Clear Tone Pink Rosa Skin Renew- Calendula and Sunflower seed oils

Clear Tone Skin Renew Anti-Perspirant -Calendula and Sunflower seed oils

Of course you know I have to try every single one. It just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t. It was a great day with great people. I enjoyed tips from Wantable and Dr. Ellen Marmur. Can’t wait for my athleisure wear clothesline deodorant to come. Thank you Dove and Wantable for a great event!!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. Opinions are mine 100%. I was given product and clothes as gifts for attending.

@BOUNTY & @GIANTS HOST MOM’S FOOTBALL CLINIC #football #sports #nutrition

9 Nov

Sports are the ultimate classroom where kids learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, respect for authority and rules and how to win with class and lose with dignity.

The New York Giants and Bounty NFL Prints teamed up to host a mom’s football clinic at Quest Diagnostic Training Center at MetLife Sports Complex to promote those ideals and reinforce the importance of exercise, character and nutrition to local moms. In addition to learning basic football skills attendees also had the chance to meet New York Giants Safety Stevie Brown and watched and enjoyed a healthy cooking demonstration led by Giants chef Angelo Basilone, Executive chef of FLK a International. Chef Basilone transformed some favorite game time meals into healthier options.

Bounty is my favorite paper towel and the NY Giants is one of my favorite teams. I am a New Yorker. I definitely was interested in learning more about nutrition and learning basic football skills. Tailgating foods are so good and if I could still make them but in a healthier way then I had to be in attendance to learn more. Stevie Brown, his mother and chef Basilone cooked a delicious vegetarian chili and a turkey chili. Both were great and there were baked potatoes to add the chili on and other toppings like sour cream, cheese, salsa, etc. They also showed everyone how to make amazing whoopie pies.

We sat and listened to a panel of Giants staff professionals talk about getting your kids into sports and keeping them active and how to prevent injuries and know the warning signs when injured. Also, not forcing your kids to take on a sport just because it’s the parents favorite sport. Your kids will know what sport they enjoy. There was also a Q&A. On the panel were:

Karla Brown (Stevie Brown’s mom)
David Tyree (Director of Player Development of NY Giants)
Mike Haynes (USA Football Heads Up Football Manager)
Presenter: Steve Kennelly, New York Giants Assistant Athletic Trainer)

Info on Football Camps: All info can be found here: http://usafootball.com/ the info talked about during the hands on seminar in the training room was the Heads Up Football approach.

We were taken to the the training center where the actual Giants practice so we could run a few practice sessions as well. It was fun. We had to come in our activewear so I knew we were going to go through a few drills and needed to be ready. They also demonstrated how to properly be fitted for uniforms. I learned so much and had a great time.

Equipment Fitting Presentation – Education on Proper Equipment Fitting (Helmet and Shoulder Pads) (Presenters: Ed Skiba, New York Giants Assistant Equipment Manager or Vincent DiGaetano, USA Football)

Drills on field (Led by USA Football Master Trainer, Vincent DiGaetano) (Field House)

@WubbleBall FAMILY FUN TOY REVIEW #spon

4 Nov

Wubble Bubble Ball was kind enough to send my kids their 2014 Top Toy for the Holiday Season as selected by Target. Wubble Bubble Ball is a family fun toy and I totally agree. Once I purchased the 4 D batteries for the pump I had the kids insert the pump in the ball and fill with air carefully. I did not want to break it before we got to use it. The whole family played with this huge, soft, bouncy ball all day and night. It is fun and I love that we can use it indoors and haven’t broken anything (so far). It reminds me of an exercise ball but not as heavy. We all get a good workout on our entire body. Laughing is also part of our exercise. Toys that keep my kids active and have the family playing together I’m all for it. I love when the family gets together and just have fun. I can now honestly say we all workout everyday. I would love to take our Wubble Bubble Ball to the park on the grass also. I see a Wubble Bubble Ball play date in our future. I’m sure by the time spring/summer hits we will have more than one. It comes in two colors: blue or red. We have the blue.

We haven’t stopped playing with it yet. Now every morning before school we play and when the kids come home we play. I also find myself playing during the day when I’m home. We all are addicted ( even grandma and auntie). Lol.
My daughter has her dolls jumping up and down off the ball. She also loves when the ball is thrown to her and knocks her down softly.

I was shopping in Target and saw the display of Wubble Bubble Balls and they were almost sold out. I also heard a little girl ask her mom for one. Kids already know what they want and parents pay attention and write it down because your kids will be expecting one or two for the holidays.

Just like any bubble or ball they eventually pop. Wubble Ball has a lifetime replacement guarantee which costs only $6.99 to replace a Wubble under the guarantee. You can watch a video about “How To Inflate a Wubble Ball” http://youtu.be/jy4QK8zRcAo

Wubble Ball is available at Target, Toys R Us and online at http://www.wubbleball.com

Disclosure: I received a sample of this product to facilitate my review but my opinions are entirely my own.

Will you try the Wubble Bubble Ball?

I HAD A #FITFABFLY DAY @Chaisefitness @92Y

15 May

Brianne Manz of Stroller in the City invited bloggers to join her in a class called Chaisse Fitness “Fit, Fab, and Fly” at the 92Y. I had no problem getting out my workout gear. I thought, “I’ve taken exercise classes before, how hard could this be”? Let me tell you, I thought hubby kicked my butt when we work out, and he does don’t get me wrong but this class had me working all parts of my body I didn’t even know I had. First of all you have a mother, daughter team. Lauren, who was raised by a ballerina, was a competitive figure skater, also ran a popular private Pilates studio. She wanted to bring Pilates into the modern upbeat vibe of New York.

Lauren’s daughter Rachel a successful ballet career took an unexpected turn. Her body started shutting down. She struggled with her body and weight after she stopped dancing. She was going to give up when her mother “Lauren” began developing the Reinvention Method. They experimented and created a new type of fitness that brought her body back to where it was when she was dancing, but even stronger and healthier.

The Reinvention Method is infused with elements of Pilates, ballet, and aerobics with the addition of the overhead bungees. Chaise Fitness creates long lean muscles, increases flexibility, and ultimately transforms your body to the best it can be.

I think if I took this class 5 days a week I will definitely see a big improvement. I know my body can be transformed. This class is made for reinventing my body. I sweated my butt off. Let me also tell you, I felt all my muscles aching for the next two to three days, especially but butt. Lol. That bungee ain’t no joke. Who knew this teeny tiny lady could push me so hard and take my body to a whole new level. It was the best class ever!!! Lauren is funny, sweet, and encouraging. The music was great and the class at the 92Y holds about 13 people so it’s intimate and I felt very comfortable.

This class is definitely on my “go back to list.” If you saw the instructors you would had never thought there was an issue with their weight. Thank you Lauren Piskin for a great workout!! Thank you Brianne for introducing me to this awesome class at the 92Y which wasn’t far from me.

That was just part of the day. After class we were treated to salad and wraps from Chop’t. They were amazing and after that workout I very much needed it. Follow them on Twitter @chopt or on their website at http://www.choptsalad.com

There were also vendors available for us to get our makeup and nails done. I had both done. The company for this treat was called Priv. They will come to your house, office, wherever you are if you need a blowout, manicure, or makeup done. Check them out on their website http://www.gopriv.com

I especially liked the Zen green Eco friendly products to be used in your home. Their products are toxin -free and completely natural to reduce chemical risk. They gave out samples to take home and I love the products. They smell great with flavors like lavender and vanilla. Check them out online at http://www.zenhomecleaning.com
