DYSON’S NEW CORDLESS VACUUMS #cutthecord @dyson

29 Jan

As an asthmatic I can tell you that DUST is a no- no. I’m not supposed to be around it, breathe it, or have things that attract it like carpet, stuffed animals, etc. The things that I have no control over that I need dust attracts like curtains, glass t.v. stand, lamp shades, ceiling fan, even an air conditioner. There are dust and germs everywhere and I been trying my hardest for years to live dust free but it seems like the gadgets that are out just isn’t doing anything for me until I was recently invited to the launch of Dyson’s new cordless vacuum cleaner Digital Slim DC59. I never used a vacuum cleaner in my apartment because I thought it was just for carpets and I don’t have carpets, just a few area rugs and a bathroom mat. That’s it, but don’t get me wrong I’ve used vacuum cleaners just now where I’m at now.

Little to my surprise this machine does it all.

First of all it’s CORDLESS. Hallelujah. If there’s one thing I hate it’s tripping over cords and I’ve been doing that a lot lately. Dyson knew and heard people complaining about that and made their customers very happy by #cutthecord .
Second, very lightweight (4.65 lbs.)
Third, it has an easy to assemble docking station that charges your vacuum that lasts for 26 minutes. It can be mounted on the wall and if you ask a New Yorker with a small apartment with hardly any room this would be great for them because it’s out the way and doesn’t take up a lot of room. Genius. I had a great time vacuuming with this cordless vac. It really sucked up all the crumbs, flour, and food off the demo floors. I compared it with other brands and this did wonders. My kids would want to vacuum everyday if we had one if these. I am head over heels for this.

Here are some facts about Digital Slim DC59:

DC59 is powered by the Dyson digital motor V6. The digital motor spins at up to 110,000 times a minute, up to 3 times faster than conventional motors contributing towards the machine’s powerful suction.

Improved pick up across every floor type
DC59’s floor tool has been engineered to be lighter and improve pick-up. A self-tightening mechanism keeps the brush bar stable and a dust capture channel prevents dirt from escaping back to the floor, increasing pick-up. The new configuration of carbon fiber filaments and nylon bristle strips removes dust and dirt across carpet and hard floors.

Cleans under low furniture
Low profile cleaner head. Stays flat to the floor when the machine is fully reclined.

Hygienic bin emptying
New hygienic one-touch bin empty. Just push the button to release the dirt. Accessible from either side.

2 Tier Radial™ cyclones
15 cyclones, arranged across two tiers, work in parallel to increase airflow and capture fine dust.

The Digital Slim DC59 retails for $499.99 and is available in February.

Anything handheld is my friend and the Dyson DC 58 handheld is one powerful vacuum. This machine is not only super light, it contains extension compartments that is great for high to reach places like my ceiling fan, curtains, and cabinets which attract lots of dust. The DC58 is very lightweight too. It also has a super hygienic dirt removal system. Just push a button and you’re done. This would make a great gift for my hubby who said he needs a handheld vacuum for his car.

Here are facts about the DC58:

The DC58 handheld vacuum cleaner is powered by the Dyson digital motor V6. This 350W motor, 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones and a re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery combine to provide powerful suction.

Run-time enhancing trigger
On when you need it, off when you don’t.
Many other handheld vacuum cleaners remain switched on from the moment cleaning starts. Battery power is wasted between cleaning tasks.
Dyson DC58 has a run-time enhancing trigger. Trigger grip releases instantly, meaning battery power is only used for vacuuming. It allows for 20 minutes of powerful suction.

This one retails for $249.99 and is also available come February.

The DC65 was another vacuum I tested out as well. Any vacuum that is Tangle -free is a thumbs up for me. With women in my household we always have hair everywhere. If this machine is that powerful that removes all kinds of hair then I’m throwing out my broom today!!

Here are facts about the DC65:

DC65 Animal is engineered for outstanding cleaning performance and ease of use. There’s also a Tangle-free Turbine tool to remove dirt and hair from carpets and upholstery. With its self-adjusting cleaner head and re-engineered brushbar, bristles dig deeper into carpets to remove more dust and dirt, while providing superior performance on hard floors. The DC65 has been built to achieve the highest suction at the cleaner head, twice the suction as any other vacuum.¹ The DC65 has remodeled cyclones and uses the latest Ball™ technology.

Strongest suction at the cleaner head
Many upright vacuums use fixed settings. Their cleaner heads don’t self-adjust to different floor types – the bigger the gap between cleaner head and floor, the more suction power is wasted. With an active base plate it creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining more suction power. It’s designed for outstanding performance across all floors – not just carpets, but the whole of your house.

Hygienic and quick to empty
Emptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. Just press the button to release the dirt. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying – and how much dust, dirt and pet hair the machine has captured. Dyson vacuums were the first to have clear bins – despite market researchers insisting it was a bad idea. Now clear bins are everywhere (though not all are made from the same ABS polycarbonate as riot shields, like Dyson bins).

Soft dusting brush
The Dyson Soft dusting brush gently removes dust and allergens from flat surfaces, delicate areas and upholstery. The fine nylon bristles are angled at 45° to sweep dust into the airflow, where it is sucked away. The front bristles are wider spaced to prevent sticking to furniture. A felt strip down the middle of the brush helps protect polished and delicate surfaces from scratching.

The Dyson DC65 retails between $499-$649.

I enjoyed learning about these great machines I would love any of them. Dyson is a brand that I trust and is going to be around for a long time. There are more surprises from Dyson coming soon so keep your eyes and ears open.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was invited to the launch event. All opinions are 100% my own.

TRISTIN & TYLER’S 10TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION PRESENTED BY DIESEL #DIESELTTBDAY

18 Jan

Twins, Tristin and Tyler invited my family and I to attend their 10th birthday party presented by Diesel Kid given at Pink Elephant where we were entertained by Fuzi Pop. 10 year old DJ Kai was keeping the kids moving on the floor with his incredible DJ skills. His music was on point I was even caught dancing and singing. I’ve been to a few events with the twins and have seen them model, host fashion events at PETITIE PARADE, or just be normal 10 yr old boys and attend a DIY workshop or book signing. They are very active and are a pleasure to know. Very well behaved and my kids love hanging out with them. Tiffany their mom, and dad have done a great job raising them. Keep up the good work!!

I knew this party was going to be just what my kids needed to start the year off right. I also love a party that provides the guests with gift bags full of cool items for kids to take home with memories from the party.

KIDS FOOT LOCKER made sure kids received gift cards so parents can buy cool kicks for our Minnie me’s. Footlocker is my number one store for the hottest sneakers for all ages.

WAT-AAH hooked us up with delicious bottled water to keep us hydrated while we learned new dance steps. Who needs soda with high fructose corn syrup when you can have all natural water?

DIESEL provided theses cute mini speakers that can be used with our iPhones or iPods. So cool! I’ve been a fan of Diesel for years.

NEW YORK FAMILY MAGAZINE one of my favorite magazines living in New York with a family is a must read put a copy of their magazine in the gift bag.

BABIEKINS MAGAZINE for the trendsetting kids also included a copy.

TINY PANTS KIDS made it their business to put a pair of Wayfarer geek style yellow glasses in the gift bag for our kids to rock as well.

LAMBERT TREASURES EVENT did their thing with the decorations. Balloons stood out and the kids enjoyed taking pictures with them. Colors were amazing.

CHERISH THA MOMENT cupcakes were the most moist cupcakes ever. They were banging!! I
wanted to take home a dozen. That’s how good they were. They are on my list of favorites.

I also loved seeing my friends and taking pictures with them and my kids enjoyed seeing their friends hanging out and dancing with them. The kids were also given light up rings and necklaces to wear on the dance floor. There were also sandwiches, fruit and cheese platters for everyone. It was just the perfect Sunday.

I can’t wait to see what Tristin and Tyler are going to do for their 18th birthday party.

All the sponsors mentioned can be found on Twitter. Enjoy the pics!!

PETER PILOTTO FOR TARGET SPRING WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION @PeterPilotto @ABullseyeView @TargetStyle #PeterPilottoForTarget

14 Jan

I was invited to attend the launch of PETER PILOTTO womenswear collection.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, the London-based duo behind PETER PILOTTO, are teaming up with Target for a bold, spring womenswear collection debuting Feb. 9, 2014.

PETER PILOTTO for Target will feature nearly 70 items, from flirty frocks and skirts to chic clutches and swimwear, with most items retailing for less than $60.

PETER PILOTTO designs include kaleidoscopic prints, bold color combinations ( blues, greens and warm reds and oranges) and sculpted silhouettes.

I loved how his dresses can be paired with his canvas sneakers or heels. The swim cover ups can also be worn as a dress or blouse. I also loved the crop tops even though I won’t be wearing them. I fell in love with the halter and strapless dresses. Accessories are a must and the sunglasses, clutches, and totes will have you wanting all colors. There is a color block jacket that I will be praying I am able to get. I also had my eye on the cardigan, and the one- piece bathing suit. I don’t do bikinis but I did love the print on them. The clutch is a must have as well.

I said I was going to go bold this year and with this collection I am ready. I am bringing a new me to the table and a few of the dresses and shirts will start me out just fine. I am going to pair the color block jacket with white pants. I was given a tote bag and towel but a few more items won’t hurt especially at the incredible prices that Target has.

I had the privilege of meeting the designers and asked if there will be a men’s collection. They kindly said no. I told them “there are more women in the world”, so I’m fine with that answer. They laughed. We talked for a few. They were very nice and I thanked them for bringing their collection to Target.

I took a lot of pictures for you to enjoy so when the line launches you know exactly what to get your hands on especially when planning that vacation. I know what I am getting. What will you buy? When the collections comes to Target stores February 9th please send pictures and leave comments now on what pieces you like from the collection. Those of you that know how fast collections come and go in Target need to shop early before it’s all gone. I will try to be on the internet at midnight or in the store as soon as it opens. Have fun shopping!!!! Enjoy the pics!!!

I am also including this link with the prices: http://peterpilottofortarget.tgtlookbook.com/

Richard Blais/Alli Luncheon #60DayKickStart

10 Jan

I kindly accepted the invitation to meet Richard Blais at the Andaz when I found out I was going to learn how to eat healthier especially during the holidays when everyone pigs out. (Yes we all do it). I wanted to know how to swap and still have a meal good enough to fill me and my family’s tummies up.

Richard Blais, chef, restaurateur, and winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef All-Stars”, has partnered with alli®, to find high fat ingredients in your holiday favorites and swap them with healthier options that taste just as great.

He has been working with alli® in creating a bevy of menu options that work in tandem with the supplement for better and longer lasting results.

Alli (60 mg orlistat capsules) is the only FDA approved over-the-counter weight loss aid clinically proven to help boost weight loss efforts. alli® is for weight loss in overweight adults,18 years and older when used along with a reduced-calorie and low fat diet.

He prepared a fabulous 3 course meal for all those in attendance. He also talked about his cookbook and his his show “Cook Your Ass Off” that I finally got to see on the HLN network channel 58 on Time Warner Cable. I think if he wasn’t a chef he would make a great comedian because I couldn’t stop laughing. The recipes for the meals he created will be posted below. I can’t wait to try the recipes from the cookbook as well as the Alli cookbook too.

With my diabetes I am really trying to eat more healthy not just for me but for my family as well and this luncheon couldn’t have came at the right time. I also heard about Alli years ago but didn’t know if it was right for me but after speaking to nutritionists and doctors I might give it chance. I have to control my diet and exercise more. Richard lost a lot of weight by taking Alli and eating right.

Follow Richard Blais on Instagram and richardblais.net
If you want more info on Alli check out myalli.com

If you can’t see the recipes clear enough let me know and I will get you the link.

Disclosure: I received a gift bag full of goodies. Opinions are 100% all mine.

TARGET’S STUDIO PREVIEW (SPRING 2014 WOMEN & MEN APPAREL & ACCESSORIES) #TargetStyle

16 Nov

After attending Target’s Holiday House Party I was also invited to preview Target’s Spring 2014 affordable women and men’s apparel and accessories in their studio. This took place on November 13th and I was very excited to see what was coming to stores. There were live models giving us a look how the clothes fit and how to pair them with the accessories. Everything was under $60. If that isn’t affordable then you’re spending too much. I was in love with the shoes and I noticed the Sam and Libby brand on a cute pair of flats that I absolutely must get. I also saw wedge boots, sneakers, ballerina flats, sandals, and ankle boots. I was also noticing lots of bold colors like oranges, yellows, turquoise, greens, polka dots, stripes, aztec designs, and crochet tanks. The jewelry had bold bright colors as well as the watches, wallets, and clutches. I can honestly say I will take a better look at the jewelry counter the next time I’m in Target. The cell phone cases had great designs and aztec for the belts as well.

Cute skirts, comfy pants, leggings, blouses, blazers, sweaters, dresses, and accessories from Target for the 2014 line is looking very good ladies and I hope you’re ready to do your shopping because I know I am.
For the men there were swimming trunks, khakis pants, shorts, denim shirts, striped tanks, button down dress shirts, and tees. I know the men in my life would appreciate quite a few items from Target.

The handbags came in oranges, greens, navy’s, a cute color blocked bag that is also on my wish list and colorful backpacks.

I am so glad Target came to my neighborhood and I can walk there about six blocks away. I will always be a targetholic. Lol. My kids love shopping with me too.
Another great day spent with Target previewing what’s to come.
Thank You Target!!

TARGET’S HOLIDAY HOUSE PARTY #MyKindofHoliday

15 Nov

I had the privilege of being invited to Target’s Holiday House Party on November 12th down on Lafayette Street. It was absolutely the most amazing house. I’ve walked past this place plenty of times and never knew that it looked so gorgeous inside and has a swimming pool as well. Can you say Fabo? I’m moving in!!!

I got to take a sneak peek of Target’s Pinterest based collaboration with Premier Party Planner David Stark. Their exclusive holiday offerings included fashion, beauty, home decor, and groceries.
Everything looked so classy and expensive but with Target’s great prices you can get so much at next to nothing. The tables were beautifully decorated for your holiday parties. Gold, black, and silver dinner plates, candles, and silverware looked amazing on the dinner table. There was also a red , white, and plaid dinner set that looked great on the table and gave off a that Target signature look. From decorations, to bed spreads, clothing, and even groceries Target offers so much you don’t have to go store to store to do your shopping. Target makes it easy to find everything you need at incredible prices and your house will look like you spent a fortune and took days to decorate but you will still have money left in your pockets for a mani and pedi.

Archer Farm Is an exclusive brand owned by Target and sells high quality delicious food from frozen pizza, trail mix, appetizers, etc at affordable prices. We sampled amazing appetizers throughout the night like Hummus Flatbread used with Archer Farms Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Curry Dipping Sauce made with Archer Farms Mango Curry Grilling Sauce, and we also had lots of other yummy foods like Shrimp with Cilantro Lime a Dipping Sauce, etc, lots of candy to take home, and Vodka Sparkler on Rock Candy. I will put some recipes below.

There was also a collection of makeup available to try out. The line is called Pixi and I’m already in love with the lip gloss. Can’t wait to try the entire collection. Polaroid also has a great camera that prints out small pictures that are super fun. Great for a night out on the town. Love the red color. That’s on my wish list. Well everything I saw is on my wish list. Lol.

The home decor should be in everyone’s home with the beautiful turquoise and silver from throw pillows, chairs, and ornaments. I love plaid shirts so I was glad to see their collection of that and of course the shoes, and boots were on point. There was also a turquoise vest that was very nice as well. I definitely have to step up on purchasing more bed sheets, blankets, and comforters. There were sheets with snowflakes, stripes, and plaid. I loved them all and need them all. I have 5 beds that I would have to purchase for. That’s a lot but with Target I know I can can great deals.

There are so many varieties of great gifts to give. There was a frame made with chocolate coin candies put inside. How fun is that? You can also give a hot sauce collection as a gift to someone who loves cooking. I definitely have to score one of those bad boys. I love heat!!

I had a great time and even met a woman that knew me from elementary school. She even lives in my neighborhood, and has a blog too. What a small world. I still can’t believe she remembers me. She said I still look the same that I never aged. What a compliment! Thanks!

@afterearth MY REVIEW @themoms #Smithmamarazzi @officialjaden

1 Jun

When I RSVP’d for another mamarazzi event courtesy of @themoms to see a screening of @afterearth with Will Smith and Jaden Smith I never knew I was in for very powerful, positive messages from Will Smith. Not only was the movie great and the moral of the movie was overcoming fears, but what Will had to say just made it all amazing for me. I have to say I learned a lot especially about attacking my fears. Will talked about how he had a fear of crowds, so one day he walked into the Galleria mall, headed to the food court and asked for everyone’s attention. He said ” My name is Will Smith and you don’t know me now but one day you will.” That’s how he got over his fears and he also did that in high school as well just a different speech. He also said “your words have power over everything you come in contact with.”

In the movie you see how his son’s character “Kitai Raige” played by Jaden Smith has to overcome his fear of creatures while they are stranded on earth or else the both of them will die. Will Smith’s character “Cypher Raige” guides his son through a dangerous journey to recover their rescue beacon.

Growing up Will’s family delivered ice which I thought was interesting.
He also said he met Jada Pinkett Smith his wife and one of the producers of this movie on the set of Fresh Prince of Bel Air when she was auditioning for a part. He said she was pissed because the producers thought she was too short and that’s why she didn’t get the part. She told Will “Apparently I’m too short for you.” He said “he think he’s in love.” Sooo sweet. They dated a few years later.

He also said when he started rapping around the age of 12 he had a rap book with 4 letter curse words and his grandmother found it but never told him. He was flipping through it and there was a note he found from her saying “Dear Will, Truly intelligent people do not have to use words like these to express themselves. Please show the world that you’re as smart as we think you are. Love Gma”

My grandmother would have done something like that.
That letter made him make the decision to not use curse words. He said “It forced a certain creativity she introduced him to the idea to have a purpose behind your choices.”
He also said “You can get caught in randomness if you don’t lock on to a purpose of why you’re doing what you’re doing.” She gave him boundaries that gave him a goal, and focus, and essentially a mental game for himself of what he was doing in the world.

Will’s son Jaden says he’s 14 and he said he doesn’t want cursing in his rap music. He said he is not allowed but Will said him and his wife Jada never told Jaden he ‘s not allowed to do that.
He used a quote from Edward Kennedy’s biography where Edward’s father said ” As a family we have decided you’re going to have lives of value to the world. Now I respect if you want to choose a life that does not have value to the world. I respect that but I’m not going to have a lot of time for you.”
That was deep!!!

Will said that struck him and that idea is the basis of what they say with their children. They say “You have been blessed. It is your responsibility to live a life of value to others, not something that is steeped in ego gratification that is not why we do this, we do this to put things in the world that have value to other people.” Love that!!

Jaden said he had fun working with his dad. You could see the bond they have and how much fun they have with each other. Not to mention they all look alike. I guess Will never thought he would have kids following in his footsteps when he was acting on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He said he would like the whole family to be on the screen one day maybe like the Partridge Family, or Brady Bunch while the kids are still young. Jaden 14, Willow 12, and Trey is 20. He also said they have to work around Willow’s schedule. Guess she’s very busy. Lol

Jaden has a clothing line called MSFT rep. He said he looks at it as “he’s gonna start a company, but build it slowly, and it’s gonna be a learning experience for him and his friends and one day it’s gonna support their families. What 14 year old is thinking about opening any company to provide for their family? I thought that was great. He has a head on his shoulder and Will couldn’t be any prouder.
Will said “Jaden’s style comes from the courage to wear what you feel”. “Just be yourself, be bold, be brave, don’t care what other people think about it.” I totally agree. I like being different and standing out and don’t care who doesn’t like it. I teach that to my kids too. Our style is different.

Will said “It’s terrifying to raise children and to know how they turn out in the world is largely gonna be based on the things that you do right and wrong.”
He also said “You have to let your kids go. You hope that the seeds and lessons you planted are going to take the root and flower into their minds at the proper time when life gives them a challenge that you can’t control.”
I agree with Will 100%. Will and Jada are good parents in my eyes.

I had the pleasure of asking Will a question but I started out by saying he never ages and he looks good. He did the two finger eyebrow and mustache wipe and was laughing and blushing. I was happy I made him smile. My question was : How did it feel sitting in the background not doing the action part of the movie and letting your son take he lead? Will’s response : “It was really great for him. As an actor he said he’s loud, smiling, fun, always on 10. He said that’s his natural space. To play Cypher his character it helped him get in touch with another side of himself to have to go to stillness. Even a man who had disconnected himself from his emotions in that way was a really powerful exploration for him as an actor.” He said “it was fun but he’s 44 yrs old so he probably got 5 or 6 more years where his knees will work in action movies so he might have 1 or 2 more running
or jumpings in him.
I guess that’s where his son comes in and take over for his father. He’s very young and is the mini version of his father. He just proved in this action packed movie he can do it.

I just want to finish up by saying hubby and I enjoyed this movie very much and enjoyed learning all about the Smith’s and hope one day to meet the rest of the family as well and get pictures with all of them. I did not bring my kids to this movie I didn’t feel it was age appropriate for them. Enjoy the pictures.

HARLEM SHAKE SOFT OPENING @HarlemShake

14 May

The day had finally come for my daughter and I to sink our teeth into a @HarlemShake burger, fries, and milkshake of course. Today was the soft opening and we were glad to be on the list. We had a 12:00 RSVP and got there about 10 minutes early where I was able to take pictures of the outside which looked very inviting. Once inside I realized this wasn’t your typical manufactured fast food joint. This is that diner that you want to come back to with your family, friends, and co-workers. There are plenty of stools at the counter, or at the window if you want an outside view. There are booths and tables and I also found out that there will be even more tables when they open up the gigantic doors and have sidewalk dining. That will be great for the summer!!

I ordered a mini cheeseburger for my daughter with fries of course and a vanilla shake. I had a cheeseburger with everything and shared fries with my daughter. Can I just say our plates were completely empty. My daughter said “I want more burgers and fries”. Everything was fresh. The fries seasoned just right, the milkshake not too thick or sugary which was perfect for my daughter. Juicy burgers from fresh ground delivered everyday. No frozen patties ever!! Prices are reasonable and worth every penny.

There is music and I was singing every song that came on because it was old school. My daughter said “you know that song mommy?” I smiled and said yes, then continued jamming.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming and made sure we were happy and satisfied with our food and that we would be returning. You don’t have to ask me twice. My family and I will return.

There was still work being done but despite all of that we enjoyed ourselves and we were very happy when we found out we were the first customers in Harlem Shake to walk through the door, order food, and eat. We felt like celebrities. Maybe our picture will be on the wall next to the celebrities. Hint, hint. 🙂

Harlem Shake is here to stay and I’m glad they aren’t too far from me. The neighborhood needed this and I encourage everyone to go visit and get your shake on and tell them I sent you!! 🙂 Enjoy the pictures!!

Fun Day Of Shopping w/ @ElisabethRohm and @themoms

14 May

There’s nothing like walking in @HenriBendel and wanting everything in there. The colors of the scarves, jewelry, handbags, makeup. Everything is just beautiful. I got the privilege to not only shop but meet Elisabeth Rohm in person for a book signing of her new book Baby Steps “Having the Child I Always Wanted”. She talked about going through menopause at an early age and the struggle with infertility. She is very sweet and can’t wait to read her book. I feel like we are girlfriends. We were giving each other high fives, hugs, and smooches. She also said she wanted to borrow my earrings that I was purchasing from Henri Bendel with my 20% off coupon.I told her “Of course you can”. She said “that’s what girlfriends do, they go in each others closets and borrow things”. I’m cool with that. I would love to borrow from her closet. 🙂

Her book is very inspiring to women who are having difficulty having children, and infertility issues. I enjoyed this day thanks to @themoms.

I also donated diapers and wipes to @loverecycled founded by Jessica Seinfeld to provide critical items to America’s vulnerable families. I loved doing that.
