TTPM SPRING SHOWCASE HOTTEST TOYS 2015 RECAP

4 May

TTPM had their Spring Showcase and as always I had a great time seeing the hottest toys of Summer 2015. We started with a press conference unveiling the top products and trends for the season from the TTPM editorial team. My favorite part was testing out the toys and meeting with more than 30+ companies from Nickelodeon, Lego, Toys R Us, Mattel, Universal, Hasbro, etc.

Are you looking for a great scooter for your kids or even yourself? I am. Well Micro Kickboard has amazing scooters for ages 1 and up. Their smooth gliding and polyurethane wheels and a flexible fiberglass reinforced deck absorbs bumps in the sidewalk. As a New Yorker I found this the number one reason these are the perfect scooters. Also lightweight and portable. There is also a two-way kickstand on the Micro Black/White for ages teen/adult. Love that too!! The Micro Sprite for ages 8+ is only 5.5 lbs. with an adjustable height handle bar that extends 34 inches above the deck. Colors available: Red, Black, Blue, Pink, Purple and Silver. The Micro Mini 3 in 1 is a ride on toy and scooter that grows with children from 1-5 yrs old in 3 stages. Now that’s getting your money worth. Our family will love these. For more info on all the scooters check out http://www.microkickboard.com

K’nex showed us their Mighty Makers collection. Created by an all female marketing and design team these construction toys are designed to empower girls to build big ideas through creative and stimulating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The set comes with colorful rods, connectors, panels and story based instructions that follow the adventures of the included female figure. Choose from Inventor’s Clubhouse, Ferris Wheel, and Home Designer to name a few. My daughter is going to love this. Check out knex.com

Just Play came through with he mini snowmen from DISNEY’S Frozen movie. They are called Snowgie Chatterbacks. These plush characters talk and repeat what you say in funny voices as their heads and bodies bob up and down. The Sheriff Callie’s Callie-oke Sing Along is great for those who love singing. Press her badge to hear her sing her theme song and dance along. There is more available from this line as well. Go online to http://www.justplayproducts.com

Alex Toys DIY Bro Bands are great for the boys in the family who want to make friendship bracelets to give to his friends. You can make 15 bracelets in 2 styles with lots of patterns in glow and neon. I loved the hair chalk pens that were for the guys but us girls can use it too. Includes 6 hair chalk pens that are washable. For the girls Shrimky Dinks Bake & Shape Jewelry. Amazing Knitter, make tons of knitted strands to create necklaces, bracelets and headbands. Slinky is still around for those that remember. This Slinky makes 10 different silly sounds as it flips and walks.  Their web is http://www.alexbrands.com

This year TTPM had furry friends greeting us. Nerf teamed up with the dogs to bring your best friend toys that will have them barking to stay out and play all day. Squeaker football, crunchable football, football launcher, barbell chew toy, rubber tennis ball, whistling flyer disc and a squeaker bone are just some of the toys available to keep your dog active the entire day outdoors and in. Check out the entire collection at : http://www.nerfpet.com

Zing Toys is coming at you with their Firetek Rocket and Firetek Bow. The Rocket has a light switch that you turn on, then attach the light up rocket to the launcher, pull the tab and let it roar in the sky. It flies up to 250 feet high. Each set comes with two light up rockets and one launcher. The Bow now with blazing LED light up power. Just hook the Zonic blaze arrow into the loops then pull back and it’s ready to fire. Soaring through the air up to 145 ft. Both are for ages 8+. The Air Huntress Firetek Bow available for girls in two colors: pink and purple or pink and black. http://www.zingtoys.com http://www.firetekbow.com for more info.

Minions made an appearance at TTPM for pic ops and to greet the kids that cam later on during the day. The gifting suite was handing out Minion helmets which were so cute. You could choose one eye or two on the helmet. These are  going to be a big hit this summer and for many more to come. I could never get tired of Minions. We all love them.

Skyrocket Toys have these helmets available. They also have safety pads, a Minion Kickboard and goggle swim mask for the water for ages 3 and up. There’s also the Minion Singing Sound Pad that plays hilarious musical Minion sounds and harmonies.  For more visit http://www.skyrockettoys.com

These are just some of the toys. For a list of all the hottest toys please check http://www.ttpm.com

My kids will be reviewing toys soon so look out for their favorites.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was given toys for my kids and I to review. Opinions are mine 100% as always.

PART 2 OF OUR NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY CRUISE FAMILY VACATION

3 May

Are you ready for Days 3, and 4 of our first Norwegian Breakaway Cruise family vacation?

Dear Diary:

Day 3 (Port Canavera, Florida) (Cocoa Beach) Partly Cloudy, 73 Sunrise: 7:01 a.m. Sunset: 7:44 p.m.

We were to arrive in Florida at 12:00 but were a little behind schedule but it was still good. After breakfast those who wanted to leave for shore had to get in line and head through a passageway with I.D’s (freestyle card) in hand which led us to a table letting you know to get to the beach you will have to take a bus. Adults $12.99 roundtrip and kids $6.99 roundtrip. You could use your freestyle card to pay for this. Once we arrived at the location which was a drop off for buses and tourist type of store to purchase clothes, accessories, etc. A back door led us to Cocoa Beach about a block or two away. My daughter was excited because she wanted to play in the water and sand. She did collect seashells with her brother too. I got my feet wet but didn’t dive in. My boys were busy making phone calls home since we finally had connection. That was fine but they didn’t want to get in the water. It was all beach. No places to eat, no restrooms, just sun, sand and water. If you decide to get off the boat for Cocoa Beach just be prepared. Have drinks, food, towels, sunscreen, hats, and whatever else will keep you occupied. The sand was very hot. If you booked other excursions then you should have time for those and the beach. Next time we will either stay on the boat, or book an excursion. We still enjoyed our day.

For those who remain on the boat there’s still things to do like:

Basketball Free Throw Contest, Sudoku Challenge, Rock Wall Climbing, Aqua Park, Nintendo Wii U Sport, Body Sculpt Boot Camp, Bingo, 70’s Music Trivia with Cruise Staff, Scavenger Hunt, Family Arts & Craft, Ping Pong Tournament, Ropes Course, Party Line Dance Class, and Family Karaoke Extravaganza.

Those returning to ship by 8:00 p.m. enjoyed:

Entourage Dodgeball, Spring Break Family Party, The Not So Newlywed Game, 70’s Disco Groove Party, Super Shopper Raffle, Citizen Watch Event, Late Night Party and Paradise Lottery Draw which takes place every night.

Country Western food was being served in the Garden Cafe for dinner or you could have Chicken at O’Sheehan’s. We decided to try Shanghai’s another complimentary restaurant. The food was amazing!!  Spring rolls, noodles, fried rice, dumplings, etc. The line gets long for this small restaurant so get on line early like we did. They open 5:30 for dinner .

Day 4 (Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas) Sunny 79 Sunrise: 6:54 a.m. Sunset 7:31 p.m.

Today we arrived at10:00 a.m. to the Bahamas.  Those going ashore were led to the Breakaway Theater on Norwegian and sat till our rows were called and taken in groups by a Tender (boat) to Norwegian’s private 250 acre island Great Stirrup Cay. We were all anxious to get on the boat and head over. It’s so beautiful when you arrive. It truly is like paradise. My daughter and I headed to the water and the boys hung out together taking in other activities. We met for lunch and enjoyed the rest of the day together. There was lots to do. Besides complimentary BBQ all day there was a *40-foot high Hippo Water Slide,* Snorkel Center, *Massage Cabanas, *Beach Yoga, *Kayak Tour, *Wave Runner, *Parasailing, *Stingray & Snorkel Rental and *Eco Boat Adventure. ( *Fee will be billed to your on-board stateroom) Free things to do were Splash Academy, Family Limbo Competition, Family Water Games, Family Tug-O-War, Family Dodgeball, Beach Volleyball, Ping-Pong, Swimming with the tropical fishes, just relaxing and having fun (priceless). For those looking for frozen specialty drinks, cocktails, beer and soda you had the Patron Bar, BoBoLink Beach Bar and Lighthouse Beach Bar. The complimentary island BBQ lunch was served at Jumbey Beach Grill, Bertram’s Bar and Bacardi Bar. There’s lockers, beach chairs, first aid, restrooms and wheelchairs. If you bring towels from the ship you must return it to ship. They highly recommend sandals/water shoes to prevent stepping on rocks or coral covered by sand. Upon returning on the Tender there are water jets to clean your feet. Last Tender to return to ship was at 5:30 p.m.

Back on the ship fun activities: Mini Golf, Shuffleboard, Soccer Tournament, Movie: (Dolphin Tale 2), Ring Toss Challenge, Rock of Ages (musical), Movie: (Mama Mia), Movie Clip Trivia, Girls Night Out, Glow Party, and Piano Entertainment.

A Taste of Asia (oriental) was the dinner special in the Garden Cafe and O’Sheehan’s had Prime Rib.

Today was a great day!!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I won this 7-day cruise from @themoms. Opinions are mine and my children 100% as always. Enjoy the pics!!

OUR FIRST FAMILY CRUISE VACATION ON THE NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY TO THE BAHAMAS

25 Apr

Our first 7-day family cruise vacation on Norwegian Breakaway was successful. Thanks again to @themoms Denise and Melissa for giving us the chance to experience what will be one of many cruises for us. We counted down till we finally were in a cab on the way to the west side highway where the ship awaited. Seeing the ship up close is so amazing and we got to take the Peter Max special (a great artist) who delighted us with his art work on the outside of the ship.

Our ship was leaving at 3 pm so we left at 12 to get there early and check in. There were so many people. All of our luggage was the right size to be carry on so we didn’t have to check it in which was a good thing. Also, if you have a disability, health issue or handicap there was an express line. We also appreciated that.

After identification and luggage was checked the next line was to get pictures taken for cruise I.D.’s (freestyle cards) and get credit cards linked. The only mixup was my son and daughter I.D. Her name had his face and vice versa. Of course they wanted they’re own cards and we had to keep explaining the mixup but eventually they got used to it.

Finally we were on the boat finding our room and still couldn’t believe the day had finally arrived. We loved our room which had a balcony, 2 twin beds a couch that turns into a full bed and a bed that comes out of the ceiling that the housekeeper has to open with a key every night. We took turns sleeping on different beds.

My mother and sister who came down to wave us goodbye were still outside waiting for the boat to pull out. We could see them from our room and were waving once we left.

We did some unpacking and waited for instructions for the mandatory life boat drill. It lasted no more than 5 minutes.

Dear Diary:

Day 1: (New York)) Sunny 55 degrees Sunrise 6:38 a.m. Sunset 7:24 p.m.

You had your choice of a Guided Ship tour, then there was a Sailaway Celebration with cruise director JC Sanchez and his team on a high energy dance floor as we passed the Statue of Liberty. Next was a Family Welcome Social where you could meet your fellow cruisers for a family party filled with kid friendly foods (including Nickelodeon Slime Smoothies), ice breaker games raffles, music and more.

Since we left on Easter Sunday they had a Family Easter Celebration. There were so much activities to do on board. We had our first family dinner at one of the complimentary restaurants called Taste. Everything from Salmon, Shrimps, to Steak. ( my three favorite S words). Our family picture was taken by a staff member. Dress code for dining: Resort Casual and Shorts are allowed in all dining venues except the Manhattan Room, Ocean Blue and Le Bistro after 5:00 pm. Shoes and shirt must be worn.

Facial and acupuncture consultations for those that wanted, gaming lessons, spa raffle, karaoke, liquor tasting, game shows, lottery drawings, welcome aboard show and late night kids fun zone. Those were just some of the fun things to do.

So after we took in the sights and ate we explored and called loved ones while we still had a cell phone connection. We didn’t stay up all night because we wanted to get up early the next day and check out the buffet at the Garden Cafe.

Day 2: (At Sea) Partly Cloudy 60 degrees Sunrise 6:38 a.m. Sunset 7:33 p.m.

There was lots to do after breakfast. Ping Pong, Shuffleboard, Giant Chess Play, Rockettes Style Stretch Class, Yoga, Fitness Class and Indoor Cycling. We went for the Nickelodeon’s Art & Craft. We also saw the Rockettes. Dora the Explorer and Team Nick hosted a Dora’s Dance Party for kids. The Aqua Park opened and my daughter made sure to go in the pool and the water slides today. The boys played video games and enjoyed the courts. We also played the game show Deal or No Deal (that was fun) even though we didn’t win $5,000. Bingo was fun and no money but a scratch off gave us a dollar. Lol. I hit the slots later that evening. Much better.

We also participated in an Art Auction and seminar before the auction. Whoever attended the seminar received authentic art to take home. More fun activities to participate in were Soccer Tournament, Cha Cha Class, Wine Tastings, Dance Class with the Rockettes, Family Dodgeball, Carlos Cupcake Decorating Class, Karaoke, Bingo, Meet & Greet with Dora, 3D Movie: Big Hero 6, and Name that Tune Trivia to name a few.

For those who wanted a photo with the Captain Hakan Svedung they could do so in the Atrium (main stage).

For dinner we went with Seafood in the Garden Cafe. O’ Sheehan’s had BBQ Spare Ribs.

If you didn’t get a chance ahead of time to book your shows, restaurant reservations and excursions on Norwegians website you could do so in your room on the interactive tv. You could also check your Freestyle Card balance of what you spend. I loved these options and also see the menus of each restaurant and  see what you could order for room service. There is a $7.95 convenience charge added for room service might I add so unless you’re dead tired and can’t go out of your room then use this service. My advice is go to the Garden Cafe for free and bring food down to your room. Even at o’Sheehan’s you can bring food back to your room. Another great tip if you did order room service like we did one night ask for a pitcher of water and you get to keep that pitcher and use everyday to bring water back to your room. That saved us a lot of steps back and forth filling up cups and we used it at our table in the Garden Cafe too. Your housekeeper will give you ice daily.

These are the first two days I’m writing about. My next post will be about Florida and The Bahamas. Enjoy the pics!!!

Disclosure: This post is not sponsored. I won this 7-day cruise from @themoms  Opinions are 100% mine and my children as always.

CHARM IT! Design A Charm Contest #charmit

23 Apr

Saturday, April 18th partners CHARM IT! and Crayola held an event at Dylan’s Candy Bar in NYC. It was for their Design-A -Charm Contest. Kids were invited to the event and encouraged to design an original charm for the chance to have it produced as an actual CHARM IT! charm.

It was a packed house and my daughter was very excited to get creative and design a charm. I think she did over ten designs. She loves drawing and I was happy to see her put her skills to good use. Hopefully one of her designs will come to life.

She’s always been a fan of charms and girly accessories. I loved the way the staff wore the charms for necklaces as well as bracelets. They showed us the winning charms from their last contest. Kids know what they like and it shows in these wonderful charms.

There was a photo booth for the kids and parents with different charm it props and a cute background. We had fun with that. Cupcakes that looked like one of the charms. Breakfast foods and beverages were also provided.

These charms were tested in highly accredited labs and are safe. This is a big plus in my book. Here is a list of ways to care for your charms courtesy of CHARM IT!

Follow these basic care tips and enjoy your CHARM IT! collection!

Remove CHARM IT! before engaging in rigorous activities or sports for safety.

Remove CHARM IT! before hand-washing, bath and showers and swimming in chlorine pools or salt water.

Remove CHARM IT! from all pockets before doing laundry.

Do not clean CHARM IT! with any jewelry cleansers or chemicals intended for precious metal jewelry.

Do. It wear CHARM IT! immediately after application of body lotions, sunscreen, creams and perfumes.

The contest hasn’t ended yet. There’s still time to enter. You have till May 6, 2015. To enter head to http://www.shopcharm-it.com/contest and download the official entry form and let your kids get their charm skills on. Also check out @Charm_It and @Crayola on Twitter.

What will your child create?

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. We were invited to the event and given gift bags. Opinions are mine 100% as always.

MY BIG HERO 6 OSCAR #DISNEYSIDE @HOME CELEBRATION PARTY

6 Mar

I was so excited I was picked again to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration party. This years theme was multigenerational. Last year I did Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in my daughter’s 1st grade class. The kids loved it and I enjoyed hosting. This year was a little different. The weather was bad and sickness took a toll on everyone in our house. I was admitted in the hospital with asthma and my kids stayed in and out of the emergency room with colds and asthma. They missed so much school.

I was sad hoping my kids would get better. Disney puts a smile on everyone’s face, so I  knew I had to make this party happen and even with the kids still under the weather I was gonna brighten up their day.

I decided to do a #DisneySide Big Hero 6 Oscar Party. We weren’t able to invite guests over but we had our family was just right. I decorated with what was given to us in our box. I made buffalo wings, vegetable rolls, cole slaw and mashed potatoes. I wasn’t able to make the tie-dye cake but will make it one day. I did have red velvet cake. We also had Izze’s and sparkling cider to toast Big Hero 6 for winning an Oscar that night. I made mallomars with whipped cream as treats. We also played games and did word search that were provided in our box.

A majority of the items that were sent to me were used and I will be using the rest soon. They came in handy like the Twinnings Herbal Tea for those that wer sick and the All mighty Pacs with Oxi for all the laundry that needed to be done and the luggage tags will come in handy next month for our cruise.

I wish I had more pictures of my kids but they were still under the weather. I appreciated hosting again this year and hope I’m picked again for the next round. We hope you enjoy our #DisneySide multigenerational party re-cap.

Thank you to everyone who made this party possible and to all the sponsors. Mom Select, BSM Media, Disney Parks, Maria Bailey, Leanne Jakubowski O’ Regan.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was given a box full of free products to host my Disney Side party. Opinions are 100% mine as always.

ALMOST TIME TO CRUISE LIKE A NORWEGIAN #travel #cruise

4 Mar

My kids and I are so excited to get away from New York and head to the Bahamas on Norwegian, Breakaway Cruise Lines for 7-days. This was a blessing to win this amazing vacation thanks to @themoms from Twitter. I want us to enjoy every minute and really take in the sights and explore.

In about 4 weeks we will be saying Bon Voyage to this crazy weather and sailing to Paradise. I wish my oldest son could go but he has to work. He did go on a cruise when he was younger but would have been fun if all my kids were with me. Hopefully he can go on the next one. Oh, I didn’t tell you I won an 11-day cruise with another cruise line as well. That will be taken in 2016. Back to Norwegian. The Moms had an event where we got to go on the Breakaway Norwegian boat and see what it looks like, find out about all the activities and tour the rooms, taste the delicious foods and take in a few shows. The kids also got to meet the Nickelodeon characters. We had a great time and appreciated getting to see what a cruise ship looked like inside. My kids know exactly what they want to do on board.

We’ve been talking about the cruise ever since we won and now comes the hard part. PACKING!! I’m going to start a list and take care of the packing ASAP. I’m so glad we don’t have to fly to Miami. The Breakaway leaves from New York. Hallelujah!! I just found my passport and found out it expired in Aughst 2014. Ten years goes by fast. I went to the DMV instead and got an enhanced driver’s license that can be used as a passport. Problem solved. Now I have to get my 18 year old son one too. A fellow mom blogger told me to take walkie-talkies because cell phones don’t always work. That was a great tip. My other blogger friend said she will loan me the two she has. That’s so sweet of her.

Plenty of pictures will be taken so I’m glad I received my Lyve Home photo storage device that holds 1 TB of photos and videos. Whatever pictures or videos I take will be sent right to the device without taking up storage on my phone. I also won this device from another event The Moms had this year.

I’m also glad the kids will be on Easter/Spring break for the entire time we’re on the cruise and won’t miss school. After a rough winter with kids sick from colds and asthma, and myself being admitted in hospital with asthma this vacation couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m gonna soak up all the Caribbean sun and bring some back to New York.

One last thing, found great sales on summer clothes at Old Navy. So glad shorts, swimming trunks and flip flops are already in stores. I racked up for all three kids. Still need more stuff and will take care of that soon.

We will be CRUISING LIKE A NORWEGIAN!!!!!!

@Lacoste SPRING/SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION MEN’S UNDERWEAR & LOUNGEWEAR #LacosteUnderwear

2 Feb

I’ve always been a fan of Lacoste so when the opportunity came to attend their Spring/Summer 2015 preview I couldn’t say no. I headed downtown to the west side, NYC for the launch.

From their polo shirts to their tennis skirts and sneakers I always made sure my kids and I owned a piece of Lacoste. The next best thing that they did was introduce Lacoste Underwear. I’m sure every man wants to be comfortable when wearing underwear and Lacoste took care of that. There’s even loungewear and I can’t wait to purchase these for my boys/young men. Day to Night comfort!!!

Amazing colors, patterns and prints for the men. Loungewear very stylish and comfortable. Vibrant colors is where it’s at.

The event was packed and there were models and guys jumping on trampolines and dancing to house music. Food and drinks were on deck and I loved the displays. Everyone took home a sample of the underwear which I gave to my oldest.

@Shortbread I’M SHARING X’s & O’s ACTIVITIES WITH MY SWEETHEARTS

2 Feb

Valentine’s Day this year will be all about the great recipes my kids and I have been creating. I’m glad it falls on a Saturday because we don’t have to worry about school the next day. I’ve been incorporating more recipes on my blog and I love when my kids get in the kitchen with me and give me ideas.

Walkers Shortbread of Scotland sent me a bag of their mini rounds and a bag of their mini fingers to come up with a fun activity of creating X’s and O’s as a gift for that special person in your life or as a treat. I love shortbread cookies. They melt in your mouth with that buttery taste. I don’t know if you would actually call this a recipe or activity but I did add to the cookies so I’ll say it can be a recipe/activity. How’s that?

This time my daughter and I came up with two fun activities using the X’s and O’s to give to each other and play a game with the next.

For the first activity we decorated a plate with two hearts made out of chocolate syrup and added sprinkles then put our rounds and mini fingers out of X’s and O’s to represent the love we have for each other and everyone in our family. This would be one of our gifts to everyone in the house to pass around. My daughter loved rolling the cookies in the sprinkles and chocolate syrup. She also created a cookie sandwich.

The next activity is out tic tac toe game using again chocolate syrup to make the tic tac toe and the mini rounds and mini fingers to make the X’s and O’s. We had fun with this one and yes, my daughter won, then I ate all the leftovers.

How fun are these? It took no time at all, easy clean up ( in your mouth). This can be done any day or month you like. I don’t wait for one day a year to show or tell my kids I love them but if you’re looking for cool activities/recipes for you and your kids this would be nice to try. X’s and O’s are so cool.

What I love about Walkers Shortbread cookies is the fact that they are a family owned company established in 1898 in Scotland. No GMO ingredients, no artificial flavors or colors, 100% vegetarian, , no animal fats, no hydrogenated fats, kosher, no artificial preservatives, no antibiotics or bovine growth hormones. Their classic shortbread is made from only flour, butter, sugar and salt. Love it!!!!!

We had a great time coming up with these fun things to do with your loved ones. Hope you get to try them out. Please check out Walkers Shortbread on their website: http://www.us.walkersshortbread.com and on Twitter @Shortbread

Disclosure: I received product to create these recipes/activities. Opinions are mine and my daughter 100% as always.
