BJ’s Wholesale Club Bronx,NY Grand Opening & Giveaway

If you enjoy buying in bulk like I do then I’m here to let you know that BJ’s Wholesale Club just opened a new location in the (Riverdale) section of Bronx, NY. 184 W. 237th St. BJ’s is a membership-based warehouse club offering high quality merchandise and great savings. They have over 200 clubs in 15 states offering more than 7,000 products.  

I took a tour the night before the grand opening along with a few other bloggers. I was excited to see what BJ’s had in store. It was fun being in a big warehouse with just a few workers and checking everything out. Every aisle I turned down I was so impressed with what I saw. I had my eyes on the televisions and and desk and chair that I need. The store opened to the public January 9th. I currently live in Harlem but this location is not far from me.  

 There is a large selection of organic foods,  and if you ask the meat department they will cut meat to your preference. There is also freshly packed sushi platters, amazing seafood, lobster tails, enormous sheet cakes, variety of cheesecakes, rotisserie chicken already made for nights you don’t want to cook, variety of platters for parties or whenever occasion.

Success Rice In Just Ten Minutes & New Recipe

When I go food shopping I always walk pass the boil-in-bag rice section because I’m not an expert in cooking that type rice the way I like which is soft and fluffy. Follow directions on box for the rice. You can choose whatever vegetables you like but these are what I picked. 

Onions

Peppers

Mushrooms

Celery

Broccoli

Cauliflower 

Zucchini 

Carrots

Red cabbage 

After stir frying veggies I made a sauce to go on top and created a more Asian flare. Here is the sauce I created. 

Cumin

Ginger

Honey

Soy sauce

Rice vinegar

Garlic in oil

Thai paste (red curry)

Salt

Pepper

I didn’t measure any of the ingredients for the sauce so just be sure to taste as you go. I enjoyed making this dish and my family enjoyed eating it. This meal was made in no time and can be used as a main or side dish.

Pressure Cooker XL Review

Tristar Products best known for The Pressure Cooker XL recently invited used and a few bloggers to attend a demo of how the 10 quart Pressure Cooker XL can cook amazing meals in no time with pitchman former WWE SuperStar Gene Snitsky a.k.a Turkey Dude. When Gene walked in the room in his turkey outfit and did the turkey call I knew this was going to be a fun day. He is very cool and funny and so are his Turkey Dude You Tube commercials. 

My mouth dropped when I saw how fast and easy it was when he made macaroni and cheese with shredded turkey. It only took 10 minutes. Yes!!! He also made risotto. I’ve never attempted to make risotto because you can’t leave that pot for a minute but now I can.The risotto came out delicious. Did I tell you it can also cook a turkey? Yes a 10-11 pound turkey. When meat is juicy and falls off the bone you know you’re doing something right. Butternut Squash was also made and I can’t believe how easy it was.  

 I’ve always wanted a Pressure Cooker XL but thought it was do difficult to use. If I knew it was this easy and cooked food as quickly as it does I would have been purchased one. I was so excited that tge first meal I made was curry chicken and rice. It was amazing!!! Once again meat falling off the bones. The whole family devoured that. The next thing on my list was macaroni and cheese. The cheesier, the better. This also turned out great and we were very happy that it was fine in 10 minutes. Just put everything in the Pressure Cooker XL and that’s it!

Peapod by Stop & Shop and Barilla Introduce Pasta Meal Kits to NYC

One of my favorite pasta brands Barilla and Peapod by Stop and Shop (online grocery shopping and delivery service) introduced Pasta Meal Kits to New York City. Does this mean  I get to save time in the kitchen and more time with my family? The answer is YES! Meal kits would make any busy parent very happy. I mean I would love to make fresh pasta every night if I could but that’s not going to happen. No more grocery shopping, prepping, measuring, and cleaning a bunch of pots and dishes. Don’t get me wrong I cook everyday but sometimes I could do without stepping into a supermarket. There were times where standing on the line took longer than making dinner. 

Barilla pasta meal kits have easy to follow recipe cards and fresh ingredients like butternut squash and mozzarella. The kit requires little prep and all vegetables are pre-washed, measured and cut. It only takes under 30 minutes.

We tried what was on the menu below and it was very delicious.

One of my favorite tips and newest kitchen switch up is to use a damp Viva® towel in the bottom of a container and put your washed strawberries on top and close with lid. They will last longer. 

Another tip is to use a damp Viva® towel under your cutting board to prevent it from shifting while slicing and dicing. I learned this from culinary classes years ago and still use this tip till this day. 

Ditch the bulky colander in favor of a paper towel. Place veggies and fruit on a sheet of Viva® Vantage® paper towels under a running faucet to function as a strainer; the stretchy-strength will keep the towel intact when wet. 

Need to chill white wine quickly? Don’t dilute it with ice; wrap a damp paper towel around the bottle and put in the freezer to chill rapidly.

I also enjoyed decorating wine glasses after I hand washed and dried the glass using the cloth-like texture of Viva® Vantage®. There was also a sparkling finish.

Shopping at Target Just Got Easier: Curbside Pickup

Ever been running around doing errands all day wishing you didn’t have to park, get out of the car, unstrap your little one from the backseat and then go in and face the crowds and long checkout lines?

With Curbside, a new mobile app that allows shoppers to order from Target from their phone and swing by the store to pick up their order without having to get out of the car, those days are gone. Yep, their goods are waiting for them by the curb when they arrive (hence the name Curbside).
The Curbside app is free, there’s no mark up in pricing and shoppers no longer have to battle the parking wars, the mob scene finding items on shelves and the never-ending checkout lines. It’ll make running errands and doing your upcoming holiday shopping about as easy as possible!
Curbside launched first in the Bay Area to the delight of shoppers on the go and it’s now available in New York and New Jersey!

I was asked to test out this service and downloaded the app. The app was very easy to use. I went to the Target in the Beonx because my local Target doesn’t have this service yet. I ordered a few things and the app said it would be ready in an hour. By the time I arrived I still had about a half an hour till the delivery. I started getting emails and texts saying my order changed. Some things I ordered weren’t available. I waited then received a text letting me know my order was ready. I saw the Target employee with blue bags in her hand and knew those were mine. We went over the list together and everything checked out. However, there was one thing I came all the way to the Bronx to get that I really wanted because I was flying out the next day and called Curbside customer service and explained and everything was resolved and I got what I needed. 

Curbside customer service was great. 

App is easy to use. 

Hope they set up in my local Target so I don’t have to travel to Bronx.

French Toast A Uniform For A Kids Life
