Spring Crafting = Halo’s Fun #MThalosfun #ad

13 Mar

When asked to get crafty at a recent event my kids and I attended we said sure but we couldn’t do it on an empty stomach. Sure we had breakfast but we needed a little more energy from something healthy that was easy to digest, easy to peel and no mess. What snack could we possibly have like this? Halos mandarins is what I’m talking about.

These little guys have been a favorite of ours for years. Who doesn’t love a seedless, easy to peel, sweet mandarin that you can snack on any time of the day? Halo’s go to school, work, on the go, when we travel and is stocked in the fridge for whenever we want one or two.

Momtrends invited us to the Children’s Museum of The Arts to get crafty on a cold day but once inside it felt like Spring. Halos mandarins surrounded us and we took our fruit to a whole new level and created chickens and bunnies. We were also treated to amazing snacks that included: Mandarin Spring Salad, Fruit Pizzas, Cider and Smoothies as well as other fun, healthy treats.

I love the canisters that we took home because they can be used for so many different things. The tote bags were cute as well and there were also coupons for more Halos. Check out the website for more craft ideas: http://www.halosfun.com/teamhalos.html.

Staying Fit & Healthy With Crunch Fitness

21 Feb

I’m on a 60 day diet and what better way to take care of my body by eliminating unhealthy foods and getting my workout on at none other than Crunch Fitness Gym. My number one workout I love is definitely walking. I walk over 10,000 steps at least 5 or 6 days a week, but something about working out in a gym with lots to offer like aerobic classes, yoga, pilates, swimming, saunas, indoor track, basketball and the best state of the art equipment. I also prefer a gym that’s not too crowded but if it is I must have access to the equipment without having to wait.

What I love about Crunch Fitness is they’re all over. The newest location is 1131 3rd ave (66th st) in Manhattan. Now that I have a very busy schedule it’s good to know the hours so I can add in a few classes before or after work. I like the fact they open 5 a.m. Mon-Friday and close late. Check the website for locations and full hours. https://www.crunch.com/locations/e-66th-st

I’m aiming to lose a few pounds and I was given a free membership for a month and can’t wait to get there and try everything.    You can make online class reservations, there’s also online nutrition program, live video workouts, personal trainers, full service locker rooms and free wi-fi. My kind of gym indeed.

Disclosure: I was invited to attend classes at Crunch Fitness with blogger Brianne Manz from (Stroller In The City). Opinions are mine 100% as always. Swag was given from sponsors which included Living Proof Dry Shampoo, Bliss Spa, Ounce Water, KIND bars, Purity Organic Juice, Just Salad, Boom Boom Brow Bar, Enlightened Snacks, and of course, Crunch Fitness.

ELLIE KRIEGER #RENEWLIFEPROBIOTICS LUNCH #ad

12 Dec

Ellie Krieger, RDN, the rockstar culinary nutritionist, who is the host of “Ellie’s Real Good Food” show, author of several cookbooks, and a columnist for The Washington Post hosted a private lunch to talk about recent survey results that confirm most women consider a taboo topic — the gut. They say it’s a “yucky” word, but gut issues affect the entire body, from mood, to memory, immunity, digestion and more — prompting Renew Life Probiotics to start the “Get to Know Your Gut” campaign to better share the benefits.

Ellie revealed the surprising ways the gut impacts your readers’ overall health and wellness, and talked about her expert go-to guide for replenishing and infusing balance back into the gut. In addition to good-for-your-gut foods, Ellie shared her not-so-secret weapon of a healthy regimen of probiotics, and she even helped us create a personal probiotic mixture.

The “gut”is considered the core of your body’s overall health and well-being and can affect your entire body, including immunity, digestion and more. According to a recent survey, nearly three-quarters of women (72%) have experienced a digestive/gut issue in the past twelve months and nearly two-thirds (64%) of women aren’t willing to talk about it with their friends.

70% of the immune system is located in the intestinal ttact, therefore, maintaining gut health is a key part of maintaining your overall health.

Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics wants to educate women about digestive health, how vital it’s ecosystem isotope our body’s overall health and well-being, and the benefits everyone can reap from taking a probiotic. Visit http://www.RenewLife.com for more information.

POM Wonderful Recipes & Cocktails #CookwithPom #ad

27 Oct

Pomegranate season is in full effect and POM Wonderful and Momtrends invited me to a hands on cooking experience to make and try delicious recipes made with fresh pomegranate arils and juice. I headed to the Miette Culinary Studio to cook with professional chefs. Looking for new recipes for the holidays?

Have you ever had Guacamole or Moroccan Shrimp with POM POMS Fresh Arils? What about Whole Wheat Waffles with POM POMS or Roasted Salmon with POM POMS Salsa? How heavenly do they sound? I even had a drink called the Dapper Devil. This drink contained Pomegranate Wonderful 100% juice, Aviation Gin, Club Soda, Fresh Gin and a twist of lime. Great for any party or celebration.

I even made a smoothie with POM Wonderful juice and it was amazing. Take your favorite fruit and POM Wonderful juice, Ice and I also used tropical coconut water. Blend well then serve.

The Guacamole station was calling my name and I really wanted to know how Pomegranate would be incorporated into guacamole. It was so easy, tasted great and brightened it up. The recipes are below. Give them a try and discover what POM can do for you.

Save On Massages, Facials and Manicures With #Groupon #ad

29 Aug

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed are mine 100% as always.

I have a birthday and cruise coming up this year and I’m gonna treat myself to a facial and massage. I 100% sure I will also get a manicure and pedicure while I’m at it. Sure I could get those things done on my cruise but do they accept Groupon? I doubt it. I’ll be saving a lot more money getting these treats done before I walk on board.

Groupon has amazing deals going on for Swedish or deep tissue massages, facials and manis and pedis. On my off days it’s all about being pampered with a wash & set, massage, eyebrow threading and mani/pedi.

My muscles can get very tight and a deep tissue massage won’t hurt me or my pockets. Groupon knows exactly what emails to send me around my location and I also have the app on my phone as well for fast access.

If you click on this link you will see the deals I’m talking about in the “Health, Beauty & Wellness Groupons”) – https://www.groupon.com/local/massage

I’ve even tried acupuncture before and loved it. Might search for that as well and make it a whole day of spa treatments.

NEW Del Monte Adult Fruit Cups (Fruit Refreshers) #TimeToRefresh

1 Aug

Del Monte introduced a new product at their NYC launch at the Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop July 28th and I was invited to see it all go down. The only thing I knew was it was their first ever Adult Fruit Cup. So what makes it an adult fruit cup you might ask? Well if you’re thinking its infused with liquor you’re wrong. Or maybe you’re an alcoholic who was praying you finally got your wish. JUST KIDDING!!!!

I couldn’t wait to find out. Once I saw the fruit cups the first thing I noticed was the packaging which looks very grown up compared to the fruit cups in kids lunchboxes. The colors of the fruit are bold and bright and I love it! The amazing flavors was the next thing I noticed. My favorite was Pineapple in Passion Fruit flavored lightly sweetened with Fruit Water. I am a huge fan of pineapple and the passion fruit is also very delicious. I love the fact that it’s packed in fruit water. Another plus I noticed was it does not have any High Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial Flavors or Sweeteners. If you’re around me I’m always talking about how I can’t stand high fructose corn syrup and if one of the first three ingredients in any product is sugar put it back. That goes for high fructose corn syrup too.

The third thing I noticed was it only has 90 calories. Can you say winner? My family has always been big on fruit cups but a lot of them were flavored in heavy syrup and that wasn’t what I wanted.

These Del Monte Fruit Refreshers fruit cups already have me hooked. Another flavor introduced at the launch was Mandarin Oranges in slightly sweetened Coconut Water. Yes, that’s right Coconut Water. This flavor only have 100 calories. Another winner.

Two more flavors coming to stores are Red Grapefruit in Guava Flavored Fruit Water and Grapefruit and Oranges in Pomegranate Flavored Fruit Water.

Spokesperson for Del Monte Fruit Refreshers, Actress and Lifestyle Blogger, Katrina Bowden was in attendance to tell us why she supports Del Monte. “She said as a healthy person who stays fit she likes snacks that she can throw in her bag everyday to enjoy whenever she needs a moment to refresh.”

I love the adult size of these fruit cups and I can’t wait to try all the flavors. Speaking of flavors we had some pretty good refreshing drinks and amazing seafood appetizers and desserts. I felt like I was at a party Under The Sea visiting Spongebob’s pineapple house. Facials were also given if you chose to get one.

Keep checking your local supermarkets. Hitting shelves soon. Check out @delmonte on Instagram and Twitter for more info.

Thank you for the invite. I had a great time.

Tessemae’s All Natural Line Of Organic Salad Dressings #BlogginMamas

16 Jun

I’ve always loved all types of salads and having a good salad dressing just puts the icing on the cake. What I tried to deny to myself was even though I’m eating a healthy salad I knew once I added that creamy dressing it wasn’t as healthy as it should be.

What I started doing was reading labels. I looked for hidden ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, xanthan gum, how much sodium, calories and cholesterol was inside and lots of ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. I stopped supporting bad habits and decided to either make my own dressing or find a healthy one just right for me and my family.

I took my kids to the Kids Food Festival in Bryant Park a few years ago and at one of the booths there were two guys (brothers) who were sharing their heathy organic ketchup and organic mustard with the kids. The name of the company was Tessemae. I purchased a few bottles and from then on they have been on the top of my shopping list.

It doesn’t stop there though. They also have salad dressings, marinades, BBQ sauce, dips and mayonnaise.

Tessemae’s All Natural is a growing natural food company from Annapolis Maryland that makes clean, fresh dressings, marinades, and condiments with real ingredients and no preservatives.

Tessemae’s All-Natural makes 25 marinades and condiments – all of which are USDA organic, gluten free, non-gmo, vegan and Whole30 approved – and contain no added sugar or xantham gum… ever!

The Vetter brothers, Greg, Brian, and Matt, launched the brand in 2009 at their local Whole Foods Market in Annapolis, Maryland, using a simple recipe created and used by their mom throughout their childhood. Tessemae’s commitment to healthy eating and living is the core of their mission, to provide simple, yet delicious food to consumers made with real ingredients.

I love their products and was given four bottles of Tessemae’s All Natural Organic salad dressing to review. The flavors were: Lemon Garlic, Balsamic, Honey Balsamic & Green Goddess. Don’t they just sound devine? It can be used as a salad dressing or marinade. The first one I tried on my salad was Honey Balsamic. I absolutely loved it because I mean come on, how can you resist anything with honey? I also love balsamic so the two together just made me want it even more. It tasted clean and fresh and my salad wasn’t weighed down nor soggy. All natural and my stomach thanked me. My doctor also thanked me.

I’m definitely going to marinate my chicken with a few as well like the Lemon Garlic and Green Goddess. I  recently purchased the Southwest Ranch. Loved it! Amazing things can happen with Tessemae.

Tessemae’s All Natural products are sold at Target, Stop & Shop and Whole Foods in the Northeast.

Mix & Mingle with Momtrends and Fairy Tales Hair Products #FairyTalesMix

19 May

Do you try to prevent things from happening to you or your family to avoid stress and headaches or do you just deal with the problem when it happens?

I’m that mom that tries to prevent things from happening like my asthma for instance so I take preventive medication to avoid an asthma attack. I also make sure everyone gets a flu shot to avoid getting the flu and so on.

Momtrends invited bloggers to Mix and Mingle with them and Fairy Tales Hair Products to celebrate the newly reformulated hair products.

Did you know there are preventive hair care products to prevent catching head lice? Fairy Tales Hair Products have been around since 1999 delivering high quality products to your family. Shampoos, Comditioners, Detanglers, Sprays and even a Survival Kit at your service.

I’m sure no one wants to wake up to a head full of lice. I’ve heard stories of how easy it to catch it. Sharing hats, combs, brushes, sleepovers and at camp sharing pillows, the list goes on and on. So if you could prevent a problem like head lice from happening wouldn’t you take the time to use the product?

Here’s more info about lice:

Lice are mostly spread through head-to-head contact. Lice infest children more than adults because they have more physical contact at that age.
Lice can survive up to 36 hours off the human head on clothing and other personal items such as hats, helmets, brushes, combs, hair ties, towels and head phones. They do not fly or jump. They crawl. Lice can also survive in water as they go into a state of suspended animation. Chlorine does not kill them. Pets do not carry the same type of head lice as children.

Here are tips for preventing head lice:

Do a weekly head check. A quick check of the “hot spots” (behind the ears, back of the neck and at part lines) on a weekly basis can help prevent an outbreak.

Teach children NOT to share hats, combs, brushes, hair ties, pillows, sleeping bags, etc. Going to a princess party? Wipe down the tiara first. At sporting events, never share helmets or caps.

Keep long hair up in a ponytail or in a braid. Secure styles with styling aids. The extra coating will make it harder for lice to attach to the hair.

At school, daycare or camp make sure to store jackets, nap mats, backpacks and hats in separate cubbies or in a sealed bag.

Use lice prevention hair care products every day! Organic herbs such as rosemary, tea tree and citronella found in Rosemary Repel Hair Care® are proven safe, gentle and effective to help prevent head lice.

Another great things is their formulas are free of harsh chemicals, pesticides, toxins, paraben and sulfates. And with the growing concern regarding children’s allergies, they are now dairy, gluten and nut-free too!

Don’t wait till it’s too late. Summer is right around the corner. Prepare in advance.

Getting Better for Cold & Flu Season with Homeopathic Medicines

20 Feb

Between January and February my kids and I get the sniffles, runny noses, asthma, sore throats, etc and I don’t like running to the emergency unless a cough lasts more than a week or asthma needs extra medication that I don’t have on hand. I feel like over the counter medicine doesn’t work all the time so I try home remedies and lots of fluids and rest.

I recently attended Boiron’s Winter Well event with Blogger Brianne Manz (Stroller In The City) at Washington Market Pediatrics at 161 Hudson St.  Bloggers were invited to learn and prepare for cold & flu season.

Last year we were all sick and I had to be hospitalized. This year I held out till recently where I caught a cold but it’s nothing compared to last year. I took my flu shot which seemed to help me out a lot because with my kids sick I just knew I would be home for a few weeks but I wasn’t. They were though. My 13 had his flu shot. We tried the nasal instead of the injection because he hates shots. It went well.

I don’t know how many boxes of tissues I went through between my three kids. Now I have to restock.

Dr. Lisa Kaufman from (Village Pediatrics) and Dr. Tiffany Knipe from (WMP) chatted with us for the morning about getting flu shots early, myths and facts and what ages should get their flu shots. I’m a germaphobe and carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go and make sure we are constantly washing our hands. It’s hard to watch my kids especially when their in school which is where kids gets sick the most because of the germs and other sick kids but I do make sure they carry sanitizer as well and wash their hands as much as possible.

Boiron is a world leader in homeopathic medicines. Homeopathy is a therapeutic method that uses highly diluted natural substances to relieve symptoms. Boiron provide products that work without causing drowsiness or drug interactions. I am a big fan of providing my family with a healthier, more natural lifestyle so when I heard Boiron was also providing us with information about their products and giving samples I was thankful because this came at the right time while my kids were sick.

I gave them Boiron’s Children’s Chestal Cold & Cough syrup which temporarily relieves symptoms of the common cold, such as sneezing, fitful cough, runny or stuffy nose, nasal and chest congestion and minor sore throat. Available for everyone ages 3 and up. I gave my kids this  and the coughing stopped, runny, stuffy noses disappeared I was very impressed. This is definitely a keeper.

Other items included in the gift bag were Calendula Cream, Arnicare Gel, Children’s Coldcalm, Oscillococcinum and other goodies.

To learn more about these homeopathic medicines check out @BoironUSA @OscilloUSA @ArnicareUSA @CamiliaUSA on Twitter and http://www.boironusa.com

I also downloaded the free homeopathic medicine finder app which is very useful at: http://www.boironusa.com/app
