Amazon’s Emmy-nominated Annedroids

16 Jun

I’m all for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and applaud those who are taking a part in it now and pursuing a future in STEM careers.

I was asked to review new episodes from the third season of Annedroids which will debut on Amazon Prime Video Friday, June 24th.

Amazon’s Emmy-nominated Annedroids, a live-action adventure series about Anne, a young female scientist, her human friends and the android assistants she’s created, and the amazing scientific discoveries they make while undertaking the biggest experiment of them all: growing up. The series spotlights, through trial and error, how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) can inspire children to do great things.

As a mom of four I love watching educational kids programs and shows that teach my kids how to problem solve or think for themselves and how friends help each other in certain situations and how to have fun while learning a lesson.

As soon as the show started I knew I was going to like it. My daughter even asked what I was watching and sat down and watched with me. We loved it. Friends meet in Anne’s secret science lab (junkyard) where Anne created android assistants. They’ve been with Anne since she was little. She’s taught them so much and they’re great helpers. Anne’s human friends are also great helpers, funny and smart. Anne lives with her father and he also plays a big part in helping her with her androids. We’re ready to see all the episodes and start from Season 1.

Pal is my favorite Android who asks lots of questions and seems like a real kid with real feelings. I would love to have Pal as a friend.

On June 24th, Prime members can stream the third season of Annedroids at no additional cost to their Prime membership with the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, or online at amazon.com/annedroids. Prime members will also be able to download the series for offline viewing on iOS, Android and Fire devices at no additional cost. Annedroids is also available as part of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, the all-you-can-eat subscription service designed from the ground up for kids. FreeTime Unlimited is available exclusively on Amazon devices including Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets, and a year-long subscription is included with every Fire HD Kids Edition.

Here’s the link to the Annedroids page on  Amazon:(https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dinstant-video&field-keywords=annedroids).

Let me know if you check it out. Hope you do!

Mother’s Day Cooking with JCPenney Bakeware

5 May

Mother’s Day for me is spent with my family. I know for some it’s a day to relax minus the kids, a spa day or dinner in a fancy restaurant. I enjoy cooking so I will be making dinner for my family a day ahead so we can just heat up the next day and have more time to spend with each other. Leftovers taste great too. I made a sample of baked ziti in my new Certified International Solstice 4.75-qt. Cream Rectangular Baker from JCPenney. This durable stoneware in a pleasing cream color is embossed with metallic trim for a rectangular baker that is oven safe to 450°.

It passed the test. I’ve never had a baking dish this fancy before. I’ve been missing out. I love the detail on my dish and the cream color. This dish just looks so good and baked my dish to a perfection. No leaks or spills, cooked evenly, and held my enormous baked ziti. Easy to clean and store. For just $50 on sale regular $100 you can own one too. Thanks to JCPenney for my early Mother’s Day gift. You really know how to spoil a girl. I think the next thing on the menu is eggplant parmigiana. I can do some major cooking in my baking dish. Link below.

Tommee Tippee New Ultra Baby Bottle & Giveaway

25 Apr

Tommee Tippee celebrated the launch of its new Ultra baby bottle- the only bottle you’ll ever need- at Vosges Haut- Chocolat in Soho. Even though my kids aren’t babies anymore I still like to see the new products Tommee Tippee has for my readers. I did use Tommee Tippee products and I also love their pacifiers, diaper pails breast pump starter kit and bottle warmers.

The Ultra bottle, which is available exclusively at Babies R Us, delivers a natural breast-like latch and a perfectly secure seal and angled position for a continuous milk flow resulting in a perfect feeding experience.

The Ultra bottle’s premium features include:

 • Easy Transitions: The extra wide nipple on the Ultra bottle offers a more breast-like shape for baby to latch onto. The nipple is made from a super-soft, high grade silicone, which allows the nipple to move in multiple directions like a breast, replicating a natural feeding action. The breast-like nature of this bottle makes for easier transitions between breast and bottle.

  • Anti-Colic: A contour zone has been uniquely built into the Ultra nipple, which forms a perfect match to baby’s open mouth. This zone allows baby to form a secure seal around the nipple, which helps reduce air intake and discomfort. It also helps prevent messy milk dribbles for a more comfortable feed.

  • Smooth Milk Flow: The innovative angled nipple on the Ultra bottle provides a more comfortable, upright feeding position for baby. Milk flows down the bottle in an even way ensuring the nipple stays full of milk throughout the feed.

The full range of BPA-free products is available exclusively at Babies “R” Us. The Ultra bottles are available in 5 oz. and 9 oz. sizes, and prices range from $10.99 for a single pack to $26.99 for a 3-pack. For more information, please visit tommeetippee.us. My Mother’s Day Wish List from BJ’s Wholesale Club #spon #shoptheclub

21 Apr

Is it too early to be talking about my wish list for Mother’s Day? I think not!! I don’t ask for much when it comes to Mother’s Day. While some want quiet time alone or to go out for Brunch or Dinner I just want to be around my family. I love presents and those I Love You’s no matter what day is it. I also enjoy buying myself gifts. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I love the fact that my family and friends can shop for my presents in one place ((BJ’s Wholesale Club) and get everything on my wish list. Wish lists are made instead of reminding a person over and over what I would like. I just put these lists randomly throughout the house or as a text/ email for them to see.

May 8th will be here before you know it. Even though I tell my children it’s the thought that counts and you can spend whatever you choose and I also accept homemade cards and gifts I love showing them how to use coupons and get the best price for their money.

Now that BJ’s opened a new store in Riverdale we’ve been quite a bit now and my daughter loves to observe what goes  in  my shopping cart then look through the coupon book that BJ’s send to my house and the coupons in store to match and rip out because she knows we’re saving a lot by using them. She also looks through my wallet for more coupons that I bring with me as well. This is another reason I love shopping at BJ’s. Coupons are my friend.

This year I want a gift basket filled with goodies. These gifts can be purchased online or in store. I’ll keep it simple.

1. Beauty- Crest 3D white advanced vivid white strips $39.99 (Mama have to keep her pearly whites for all the pictures I will be in)

2.  Drinks- $10 Starbucks Gift Card 3-pk for $28.99 ( Got to have Iced Coffee)

3. Over the counter-Claritin 10mg allergy tablets 90 tablets $35.99 ( I want to be prepared so I will take in advance so I’m not suffering)

4. Food- $100 Cheesecake Factory Gift card for &94.99 (I don’t expect the kids to get this so I would  give myself this this gift)

5. Entertainment- Regal Entertainment Group Premiere Movie Ticket 2-pack $19.99 giftcard (Love movies)

6. Kitchen/Houseware- NewAir 12-bottle thermoelectric wine cooler $159.99 (Another gift to myself)

7. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. 2 pack/18 ounce & 2.5 ounce travel size $14.99 (After a rough winter I need my skin to be refreshed and moisturized)

8. Gillette Venus Luscious Lilies Shave Gel Prep 3/Pack for $6.49 (shaving is a must) Love smooth skin.

9. Berkley Jensen Moisture Infusing Shampoo and Conditioner $6.49 each for 40 ounce (to make me feel renewed and rehydrated)

10. Random gift from the heart.

I took my son with me to BJ’s to see what Mother’s Day gifts he would pick out for me and I was happy to see that he went straight for the things I mentioned above. He knows his mama.

That concludes my wish list. Convenient, affordable, simple one -stop shopping.

JCPenney BOGO Challenge #soworthit

18 Apr

JCPenney’s penny deals were here to update my bathroom. The buy one, get one for 1¢ (BOGO) deals from JCPenney were available April 14-17.

I was asked to participate in a Shopping Challenge with JC Penney with a $25 gift card to see how much I could buy to spruce up my home for spring.

I headed downtown to JC Penney and took advantage of the penny deals. I found amazing spring colors in the bath towels and washcloths.

The bath towels I picked out were $12 but I got them for $9 with an extra coupon I received and the second one for a penny. The washcloths were $6 after using a coupon and the second for a penny as well. So I had a total 4 towels and 2 washcloths for $23.99. What a great deal and still had change left. I also found a great sale on sheet sets which were regular $30 down to $7 and with my coupon came to $5. I purchased 4 sets which came to $20.42. Excellent!!!

I also participated in a “Penney Day” BOGO promotion Fashion Challenge April 13 to April 17, where customers could purchase one item from select private label brands and get another for just one penny. Participating brands included the Original Arizona Jean Co., St. John’s Bay and Xersion.

I was given a $30 gift card to get my fashion challenge on and see how many outfits I could come up with. I have to be honest. It was harder with the fashion challenge because I couldn’t find the items in the store that I searched for online. Some items didn’t have my size so I headed to the jewelry section which was (you guessed it) buy one get one for a penny. I did purchase a pair of jeans and a shirt but took advantage of the coupon I was given as I walked in the store.  These clothes weren’t part of the BOGO deal. I would have purchased the BOGO clothes online but I knew it wouldn’t get to me in time. So with this challenge I didn’t go over budget because I purchased the jewelry. The clothes I purchased separately and still did good using my coupon. It was so worth it!! I still got what I wanted and I was very happy.

I enjoyed partaking in these challenges and getting myself and my home together for Spring. With deals like these how can you not love shopping. Keep checking out JC Penney’s for more deals.

How do you think you would have done? What color towels would you choose?

Sara Lee Artesano Bread for #NationalGrilledCheeseDay and Recipes

12 Apr

April is finally here and the trees are blooming. It is also known that April showers bring May flowers . Do you know what else April brings? It brings lots of grilled cheese sandwiches. April is National Grilled Cheese Month.

I grew up on lots of grilled cheese sandwiches and my kids love them just as much as I do. There’s so many varieties of cheese to choose from and that goes for the bread as well. But for me I am very selective. I’ll try all types of cheeses but I love bread that can make my sandwich taste great and hold all that cheese that I pile on.

Sara Lee has an amazing line of breads but their new line of Artesano bread goes above and beyond delicious. Sara Lee Artesano  Bread in stores now. Sliced thick with a mouthwatering soft texture and ringed with a golden crust, Sara Lee Artesano Bread has an Italian flavor profile with rich flavor and distinctly creamy character. The homemade taste is without artificial flavors, colors or high fructose corn syrup. It is an ideal substitute for any bakery-style bread in a favorite sandwich, or the perfect primary ingredient in recipes like paninis, French toast, bread pudding, strata and grilled cheese. Artesano has an average price of $2.99.

Below are some tips and techniques to hone your sandwich craft – essentially, the three “Bs” of the perfect grilled cheese:

Base — Like most iconic sandwich makers across the country would say, the bread you choose will make or break your masterpiece. Sara Lee’s new Artesano style bread is the perfect canvas for your grilled cheese creation. The hearty Italian slices will hold strong under the weight of the gooey cheese, but won’t overpower your fillings. It also crisps nicely on the outside, while the inside remains soft and fluffy for when you dig in.

Butter — If you’ve already committed to indulging in directly on the outside of the bread, rather than melting it in the pan first. This allows every corner of your Artesano bread to be coated, allowing for an even, golden sear edge- to-edge.

Blend — What you put inside your grilled cheese matters, and not all cheeses are created equal. Are you looking for a spicy, savory blend? Or how about a sweet and tangy? Whatever the combo, remember your cheese and other fillings need to play together nicely in the sandbox. Pick ingredients that pair well for that perfect balance on your palate.

I am so glad Sara Lee came out with this bread. I love eating it right out of the bag. It makes all of my sandwiches taste so good. I was asked to make grilled cheese sandwiches with this wonderful bread and you know I couldn’t turn down that offer. April 12, 2016 is National Grilled Cheese Day so I bring you 6 sandwiches for you to try or just drool over as you look at the pictures. I’m showing you the before, during and after. I enjoyed making these and can’t wait to come up with more recipes.

2. Colby, Cream Cheese and Bacon Bits

3. Havarti, Bacon, Guacamole and Peoper Jack

Make The Switch to Turkey with Jennie-O and The Biggest Loser (recipe)

21 Feb

Each year, many Americans commit to New Year’s resolutions focused on achieving a healthier lifestyle. However, by the second week in February, 80 percent of those resolutions are kicked to the curb as people try to implement impractical lifestyle changes. (U.S. News & World Report)

Essential to making healthy lifestyle changes stick, is taking small steps and setting realistic benchmarks, a lesson the trainers on NBC’s The Biggest Loser continuously preach to the show’s contests. In the spirit of making small, impactful changes, Biggest Loser trainer Jen Widerstrom taught contestants how to create a nutritious and delicious new Jennie-O breakfast recipe during the episode that aired Monday, Feb. 15.
If you caught The Biggest Loser last week you saw this amazing recipe made featuring Turkey Breakfast Sausage Chilaquiles with JENNIE-O® Lean Mild Turkey Breakfast Sausage Roll. Created in collaboration with Biggest Loser RD Cheryl Forberg, the recipe puts a tasty, low-cal spin on a favorite south-of-the-boarder dish. Here is the recipe below:

Turkey Breakfast Sausage Chilaquiles

Serves 8

Prep time 20 mins

Total time under 30 mins

Ingredients

SAUCE

2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced fire roasted tomatoes

1 cup chopped onion

1 roasted red bell pepper

1 cup fat-free low-sodium chicken broth

¼ cup chopped cilantro

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

2 teaspoons chopped garlic

½ teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon ground mustard

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon ground cumin

1 tablespoon chipotle chili in adobo sauce, if desired

salt and pepper, if desired

CHILAQUILES

1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Mild Turkey Breakfast Sausage Roll

48 baked corn tortilla strips

½ cup thinly sliced red onion

¼ cup crumbled low-fat feta cheese

¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

1 medium avocado, died or ½ cup guacamole, if desired

DIRECTIONS:

Sauce:

In bowl of food processor or jar of a blender purée all sauce ingredients until smooth. Pour into a 2 quart sauté pan, simmer sauce, stirring, 3 minutes and season with salt and pepper, if desired. Keep warm. (Sauce may be made 2 days ahead and chilled, covered.) Yield 6 cups.

Chilaquiles:

Cook turkey sausage as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Set aside.

Assemble Chilaquiles in shallow dishes or soup bowls. Crumble 6 tortilla chips into each bowl. Top with ¾ cup very hot sauce. Sprinkle with ¼ cup turkey sausage crumbles. Garnish with onion, feta cheese, cilantro and avocado, if desired.

I’m drooling just looking at the picture. I love turkey burgers, sausage and ground turkey and have made the switch from ground beef when making my favorite dishes. This recipe is definitely being saved as I will make this soon. Getting Better for Cold & Flu Season with Homeopathic Medicines

20 Feb

Between January and February my kids and I get the sniffles, runny noses, asthma, sore throats, etc and I don’t like running to the emergency unless a cough lasts more than a week or asthma needs extra medication that I don’t have on hand. I feel like over the counter medicine doesn’t work all the time so I try home remedies and lots of fluids and rest.

I recently attended Boiron’s Winter Well event with Blogger Brianne Manz (Stroller In The City) at Washington Market Pediatrics at 161 Hudson St.  Bloggers were invited to learn and prepare for cold & flu season.

Last year we were all sick and I had to be hospitalized. This year I held out till recently where I caught a cold but it’s nothing compared to last year. I took my flu shot which seemed to help me out a lot because with my kids sick I just knew I would be home for a few weeks but I wasn’t. They were though. My 13 had his flu shot. We tried the nasal instead of the injection because he hates shots. It went well.

I don’t know how many boxes of tissues I went through between my three kids. Now I have to restock.

Dr. Lisa Kaufman from (Village Pediatrics) and Dr. Tiffany Knipe from (WMP) chatted with us for the morning about getting flu shots early, myths and facts and what ages should get their flu shots. I’m a germaphobe and carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go and make sure we are constantly washing our hands. It’s hard to watch my kids especially when their in school which is where kids gets sick the most because of the germs and other sick kids but I do make sure they carry sanitizer as well and wash their hands as much as possible.

Boiron is a world leader in homeopathic medicines. Homeopathy is a therapeutic method that uses highly diluted natural substances to relieve symptoms. Boiron provide products that work without causing drowsiness or drug interactions. I am a big fan of providing my family with a healthier, more natural lifestyle so when I heard Boiron was also providing us with information about their products and giving samples I was thankful because this came at the right time while my kids were sick.

I gave them Boiron’s Children’s Chestal Cold & Cough syrup which temporarily relieves symptoms of the common cold, such as sneezing, fitful cough, runny or stuffy nose, nasal and chest congestion and minor sore throat. Available for everyone ages 3 and up. I gave my kids this  and the coughing stopped, runny, stuffy noses disappeared I was very impressed. This is definitely a keeper.

Other items included in the gift bag were Calendula Cream, Arnicare Gel, Children’s Coldcalm, Oscillococcinum and other goodies.

To learn more about these homeopathic medicines check out @BoironUSA @OscilloUSA @ArnicareUSA @CamiliaUSA on Twitter and http://www.boironusa.com

I also downloaded the free homeopathic medicine finder app which is very useful at: http://www.boironusa.com/app
