MY FUN DAY AT ANDERSON LIVE AND AT SCREENING OF THIS IS 40. @ThisIs40 @AndersonLive #AndersonLive #AndersonLiveTweetSeats

21 Dec

I was invited to Anderson Live talk show here in Manhattan Thursday, December 20, 2012 to be part of 40 year old audience members who were either turning 40 or already 40. I turned 40 in October yeah hard to believe but I was excited to attend and took my sister along for the day.

It started with a special screening of the comedy film “This Is 40″which was shown at the Loews Theater on 68th & Broadway at 8:00 a.m. Whoever attended the screening got priority to get into the talk show ahead of everyone else.

Some people said they couldn’t get up that early for a movie, or they had to take the kids to school. I told them they missed an amazing comedy and I couldn’t stop laughing.

“This Is 40” produced and written by John Apatow is the spinoff to the sequel Knocked Up (2007).

This film follows the lives of middle aged married couple Pete and Debbie as they face challenges of their lives. They are dealing with turning 40, their jobs, and children Sadie and Charlotte who add stress to their relationship.

It is R rated so if you’re not into foul language, and sexual content then you know what to do. I on the other hand enjoyed this film very much.

The cast includes :
Paul Rudd as Peter owner of record label
Leslie Mann as Debbie shop owner
Maude Apatow as Sadie 13 yr old daughter
Iris Apatow as Charlotte 8 yr old daughter John Lithgow as Oliver (Debbie’s 65 yr old father)
Albert Brooks as Larry (Pete’s father)
Megan Fox as Desi (one of Debbie’s employee)
Charlyne Yi as Jodi (one of Debbie’s employee)

The other cast members are very funny as well. Charlyne Yi who played Jodi is crazy and played her character very well. She’s funny.
Everyone is mesmerized with Megan Fox character. I wonder why. Lol. You will see. Everyone that was in the movie did a terrific job and I couldn’t see anyone else playing their parts. Of course John knew what he was doing when he picked his wife Leslie and two daughters Maude, and Iris to play the daughters in the film.

I was excited to get to the studio and see Anderson of course but also some of the cast in person.
John Apatow, Leslie Mann,  and Paul Rudd, were on the show. Leslie was Anderson’s co host. John and Leslie’s two daughters who were stars in the film were in the audience as well.

The movie comes out today Friday December 21, 2012. Yes the world stayed around for you to see this movie, and the taping of Anderson Live comes on today at 12:00 on Fox5. They might show me in the audience.

Since this was Anderson’s last show for the season we were given $100 Visa cards, snow for the kids from Misfit toys, and a CD.

My sister and I had a great day and I recommend seeing this movie and requesting tickets to Anderson Live next season.
Enjoy the pictures below from movie theater and talk show.

#Wimpykidmoms A day with @themoms and @wimpykidmovie @appleseednyc

15 Dec

Today was a beautiful day for the kids to get out and enjoy a day with @themoms at @appleseednyc meeting the creator Jeff Kinney and star of Diary of Wimpy Kid @RobCapron. They answered questions, signed autographs, and Jeff showed the kids how to draw.

The kids split up into different rooms to create bookmarks, or diaries of their own. They also got to enjoy the play area which my kids were extremely happy about.

The treats were provided by Capri Sun, and Earth’s Best organic pouch snacks. There was also popcorn.

My kids were so pleased with their autographs. They also loved @appleseednyc. My daughter said she had the best time ever and got to see her friends and meet new ones.

We love all the great events @themoms put together for families. They are awesome. Keep doing what you do mamas!! Till next time!

THE SEASON TO BE GIVING……

8 Dec

This is definitely the season to be giving. Giving a lot of your time in the emergency room because of the amount of times your child will be suffering from the flu, allergies, or the common cold. No parent likes seeing their kids suffer with fevers, runny noses, sore throat, and itchy eyes and we try to do all we can to prevent this from happening.

We get flu shots early, sterilize toys, wash blankets, use hand sanitizers wherever we go and have regular doctor visits, but is that all we need to do? What else should we be doing? Why are our kids still sick?

I notice that your child could be healthy one day and go to school and come home with the sniffles, or a cough. Germs are everywhere. I especially hate for my kids to touch anything outside from handrails, to train poles, doorknobs, shaking people’s hands. I’m a germaphobe. Sure, they’re still going to catch a cold, or the flu but that lessens the chance and I rather it comes from someone in my house than a stranger.

I do not like emergency rooms because every doctor is programmed to say the same thing. Give them plenty of fluids, cold medicine, and rest. I don’t need a hospital bill for them to tell me that. I have the remedies in my house.

Basically keep your kids informed especially in school and in the streets. If someone is coughing or sniffling stay away, don’t let anyone touch you, or hand you anything without them washing their hands, don’t eat anything from anyone, and try not to touch doorknobs. If they do have a bottle of sanitizer on them at all times. I do and I’m not afraid to use it. My kids already know.

Dental Expo at Jacob Javits Convention Center

1 Dec

I had the pleasure of attending the Dental Expo at Jacob Javits Convention Center as I do every year and I am always excited to see what’s new one the market for my family and I. Our teeth are very important to us and it should be to everyone out there. The products we use have a lot to do with our hygiene and the better we take care of our teeth the less visits to the dentist we will have to make.

At these expos you can either take courses, listen to demos from the actual brand of products, such as Colgate, Crest, Sensodyne, Gum, etc, etc. You can also go to a booth and brush your teeth with their product and take that toothbrush with you along with a toothbrush holder and goodie bag.

I also love walking around and asking for toothbrush samples for my kids. From my experience going to this particular expo for years I’ve noticed it’s gotten smaller and a lot of sponsors are around like they used to be due to the economy.
It’s still interesting to learn what’s new and what actually works better for your teeth whether it’s a manual or power toothbrush, or whether you should use floss or a water pik.

They also give the attendees a great dinner party at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square that is catered with an all you can eat buffet, desserts, and DJ for those who want to dance and work off that food.

Kids are welcomed to the expo free of charge like the adults but not to the party.

The Javits Center offers a lot of free events so if you see something you’re interested in register early.

My daughter’s 1st toy review!!

1 Dec

Not only was my daughter excited that I won her a Minnie Mouse Flipping Fun Kitchen by Disney, she wouldn’t stop asking me everyday if it came yet. When it finally came we tried to hide it but it’s like she knew it was here and walked right to it. Kids are a trip!!

I took some pictures of her cooking and also a video. If the video doesn’t come out I’ll try again or put it on Twitter.

My daughter loves her kitchen and hasn’t stopped playing with it. She wants to thank everyone involved with her getting what she always wanted.

She loves making milkshakes and flipping the pancake for our breakfast. Minnie also reminds her with her electronic voice to not forget to flip the pancake. The milkshake maker flips over to become a dish rack and the sink flips over to be a cutting board. So cute, we love it!!

JCPenney #12DaysofGiving Tour in Bryant Park with John Legend

28 Nov

Kicking off #jcp12days with @johnlegend entertaining #BryantPark with Christmas carols. http://t.co/5xPWcohG

I went to Bryant Park to see John Legend do some singing for JCPenney 12 days of giving tour on Tuesday, November 27th. He sanged a few of his songs and a few carols. There were free ice skating, and free hot chocolate when you got cold from the rain and snow. I wasn’t able to get good pictures of John Legend but I was able to get a video of him singing one of his songs. Also, I took pictures of Citi Pond and the ice skaters. Standing right next to me was LaLa, Carmelo Anthony wife so I took pictures of her as well. I also met a skater who was willing to teach me how to ice skate and carry me on her back so I wouldn’t fall. How sweet but she was tiny. She didn’t know what she would have gotten herself into. Lol. Now, I can roller skate but ice skating, nope. Enjoy the pictures!!
If the video didn’t come out I’ll try again later.

My daughter’s 1st tooth finally came out!!

27 Nov

My daughter’s first tooth finally came out. It happened on the weekend and I’m glad she was home and not in school because she probably would have did what I’m about to tell you.

I have 3 boys older than my daughter and whenever they had a tooth fall out they would immediately bring it to me, or if they happen to be in school they would tell the teacher, wrap it in tissue and bring it home, but not my daughter….   She was eating lunch and decided to nonchalantly put it either on her plate or throw it in the trash then tell us that her tooth came out after we emptied her plate. So, doing what any mom would do I looked everywhere, including the garbage and nothing.

We really don’t know what happened to the tooth but she said to us “It’s okay my other tooth is growing in and I’ll have more teeth coming out again.” It’s like she was telling us don’t stress over it. Well, I’m not stressed but it’s the memories, even though I couldn’t tell you where my son’s teeth are right now knowing that I was able to hold on to it for the time that I did was special.

She’s my only daughter and it would have been nice but there will be other firsts. Excluding boyfriends. Lol. That’s my Minnie Me. You gotta laugh and enjoy every second with your kids. I love all of my kids!!!

BLACK FRIDAY MY WAY!!

23 Nov

Didn’t really do a lot of Black Friday shopping today. I waited till 5:00 p.m. to go to the mall and avoid the crowds and stress. I went to Marshalls and got a few things, as well as Target. I did score my free cookbook at Costcos like I’ve been doing for a few years now. That book has great recipes and they had hundreds left. I should have gotten more to give away to family and friends. I’ll check back to see if they still have any left.
I took a picture of the mall.

They also put up a big tree by Costcos.

Turkey Giveaway in Harlem @Ricardosnyc

23 Nov

I net Tyson Beckford model, actor, tv host in Harlem @Ricardosnyc giving out turkeys to the community. He was very nice and went out his way by staying past the time the event was supposed to end make sure everyone had a free bird.

There were tickets issued from local churches which you needed to receive a turkey but when those people stopped coming they started handing out turkeys to those without tickets and to anyone passing by.

The event went smooth and no one complaining, arguing, or fighting.
Tyson was nice enough to pose for pictures with a lot of people and you know I had to get a picture.
