Mother’s Day Movie Review In Theater’s Now! #SITCcelebratesMothersDay

8 May

Since today is Mother’s Day I’m sure you already have plans of what you’re going to do. Just in case you don’t may I suggest you head to the movies and see Mother’s Day with stars Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis to name a few. Brianne Manz from @strollerinthecity invited me and a group of moms to a special Mother’s Day night of fun to see the Mother’s Day film. We had a theater to ourselves and was given popcorn, water and goodie bags filled with Lindt Chocolates, Fandango mug, notepad, buttons and gift card, also a $50 gift certificate towards a facial or massage from Cornelia Spa at the Surrey. What a treat!

I’ve met Jason Sudeikis and Kate Hudson before and they are both great. I knew Jennifer Aniston was going to be funny in this movie and I love Julia Roberts. It was also good to see Sarah Chalke who I remember as (Becky) from rhe sitcom Roseanne. The whole cast was great! I love comedies and enjoyed laughing throughout the movie. Garry Marshall did a wonderful job as Director.Check your local theaters for tickets and time. If you want to get your laugh on this is the movie to see. My mother and sister saw it together and they also enjoyed it.

Inspiring memorable moments, Unilever Ice Cream recently announced their newest family-friendly frozen treats across Breyers, Good Humor, Klondike and Popsicle. From summer movie premiers and picnics, to birthday celebrations and family camping – there’s a treat for all your favorite family moments!

· Breyers Ice Cream Cake: Helping you celebrate any occasion – this new variety features Breyers Chocolate Ice Cream and loads of chocolatey crunchies, sandwiched between Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream.

(We have been fans of ice cream cakes for years. It’s always available and the flavors are great. After I delivered one of my kids I asked for an ice cream cake. Breyers ice cream cakes make me very happy.)

· Breyers Chocolate Snack Cups: Features smooth Breyers Chocolate Ice Cream made with fresh cream and rich Dutch cocoa, in a pre-portioned snack cup.

· Breyers Natural Vanilla Snack Cups: Features Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, made with simple ingredients like fresh cream, sugar, milk and Rainforest Alliance Certified vanilla beans, in a pre-portioned snack cup.

(I grew up in snack cups. Snack cups are so easy for little hands on the go. It’s simple, chocolate or vanilla. My kids and I enjoy these very much.)

· Good Humor Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich: Share the nostalgia of a classic with creamy chocolate ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate cookies and topped with milk chocolate chips.

(Good Humor cookie sandwich. We used to make homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches. I am glad to see Good Humor keeping a classic treat around.)

· Klondike S’mores: Features creamy marshmallow ice cream laden with sweet graham cracker swirls inside a delightfully breakable milk chocolate flavored shell. All you need is a campfire!

(What would you do for a Klondike bar? Ok, now you went and got a S’mores version. I was so happy to see these in the ice cream section. My kids are super excited for this.)

· Popsicle Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Michelangelo™, Donatello™, Raphael™ and Leonardo™ are the heroes of these frozen pops featuring four action-packed flavors: Orange Fury, Cherry Crush, Blue Raspberry Blast and Smashing Grape. Grab some before the movie premiere in June!

(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can do no harm. They were recently named Ambassadors of New York so it’s only right to have a Popsicle with the characters in yummy flavors. We will enjoy these this summer and definitely at the movie. )

It’s hard to pick just one as a favorite so I choose them all. Don’t let the weather stop you from enjoying ice cream. Remember ice cream can be eaten all year round.

Catherine & Sean Lowe Loads Of Love Baby Shower With Dreft #AmazingHood

28 Apr

Wednesday April 27th was a beautiful day in the neighborhood at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel for an unforgettable Loads Of Love themed baby shower with expectant parents Sean and Catherine Lowe Reality TV Couple from The Bachelor. Dreft (No.1 baby laundry detergent) made this journey to #AMAZINGHOOD possible.

I haven’t been to a baby shower in years. Walking in the suite was filled with plush baby blankets, Dreft products, cake, food, onesies, laundry baskets, pillows, fresh flowers and stuffed animals. It was the perfect setting.

Dreft had been a part of my family since 1990 when my firstborn arrived. My mother, grandmother and pediatrician recommended it and I’ve used it for all four of my children. The smell is amazing and I just couldn’t stop smelling my kids and their belongings.

I was so happy to hear Dreft unveiled a new line of products to match the different stages of babyhood- from pregnancy through toddlerhood and beyond. A gentle and hypoallergenic product to wash newborn’s clothes would be Dreft Stage 1: Newborn. As babies grow and explore the world families are looking for a stronger detergent like  Dreft Stage 2: Active Baby that can remove 99% of baby food stains while still being gentle and hypoallergenic. Parents can feel sentimental when babies outgrow their newborn clothes and need need to wash their bigger-kid clothes and that’s where Dreft Blissfuls in-wash scent boosters come into play to help bring back memories of the entire journey with every wash.

Catherine Lowe mentioned her mother used Dreft to wash her baby clothes and it feels good to continue the tradition of using a brand that her mother trusted. Catherine and Sean are preparing for the baby’s arrival by setting up the nursery and washing all the baby’s linen and clothes in Dreft’s Newborn Detergent.

I also enjoyed pre-washing my kids clothes and blankets so that amazing smell could set in when I dressed and wrapped them in their blankets.

Sean Lowe said “Were excited to embrace the special, messy moments as they come. Thankfully with Dreft, we can tackle the messes and focus more on all of the amazing times we have to share together.”

Sean and Catherine are waiting till birth to find out whether they are having a boy or girl. Catherine told me she will breastfeed. She also said they want more kids. They are so excited about the birth and Catherine is due July 5th.

You can follow their year long journey with Dreft on social media, @Dreft on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Also check out http://www.Dreft.com and follow the hashtag #Amazinghood

I had a great time celebrating #Amazinghood with the Lowe’s and can’t wait to see their bundle of joy. They will make great parents.

25 Apr

Momtrends held their 6th Annual Travel Trends Event at Ivivva in Union Square. This year I definitely want to explore and travel even if it’s local I appreciate all the tips and cool trends I can get. As I walked in Ivivva with my kids I was given a passport to use set each table as I talked to brands and get a stamp in my book as if I’m traveling. My daughter quickly ran to the kids table with her friends and decorated her Seedling bag and received goodies. Seedling creates uniquely innovative products that encourages families to build, imagine and play together. Check them out here: http://www.seedling.com

Ebags was the first table my son and I talked to. The colors on the bags drew me in. The backpacks and luggage are just what I need for my cruise. I also adore the packing cubes for my shoes and other items. The bags have a lifetime guarantee which is a big plus in my book. Ebags is the world’s leading online retailer of bags and travel accessories. I was happy to receive a packing cube in my gift bag. It’s so lightweight but holds just what I need. Head to http://www.ebags.com now.

You can’t have a travel event without Hershey’s chocolate being present. Not only was the largest Hershey’s chocolate bar in our gift bags there was also a chocolate fountain pouring chocolate on fruit, pretzels or marshmallows. My kids enjoyed that station. Experience the new Chocolate Making Tour at Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction this summer. Check the website for more info: http://www.hersheypark.com

Igloo Coolers always make t easy for me to choose what I need for my parties, picnics, bbq’s and road trips. Their coolers, totes and buckets keep my drinks and food cool and happy.  Ivivva where the event was held is inspired by active girls. If you need athletic wear for your daughter like leggings, leotards, jackets and accessories this is the place to get it. They all did an amazing job. Follow @ivivva on Twitter for more info.

Go Picnic nutritious ready to eat meals were a hit with the kids and adults. My daughter took some to school for her lunch. Gluten free, vegetarian and kosher. Buy online or in your local grocery store. http://www.gopicnic.com and @GoPicnic on Twitter

I’ve not a fan of tap water but I am a big fan of water that has an alkaline 9.5 pH or higher. I’ve only found a few and I’m proud to discover Essentia Water. This water is an electrolyte enhanced water with the alkaline of 9.5 pH. I’ve always been a walker and my Fitbit keeps track of my steps so I’ve been doing great with walking 10,000 or more steps every time I go out. Essentia Water will be by my side to keep me hydrated. @EssentiaWater on Instagram @EssentiapHwater on Twitter and http://www.essentiawater.com website.

I’d like to thank Momtrends for another fun event. My kids and I enjoyed spending the evening with you and all the brands and taking home great tips for travel and a great gift bag.

Disney’s The Jungle Book Review

14 Apr

My kids and I were invited to a Disney screening of The Jungle Book on April 12rh at Kips Bay AMC theater in NY.

I was very excited to see this film with my kids in 3D and enjoy hearing my favorite cast members voices. I already knew from the original that this movie was gonna be awesome. I was jumping and clutching onto my kids in a few parts and my daughter also grabbed me a few times but it was just the way the animals come at you from the screen. Being raised by wolves isn’t a bad thing. I think the snake had me hypnotized. Do not look into her eyes. Lol. Also, watch for the scene with King Louie when he chased Mowgli through the temple. That had my heart racing but it was excitement. I didn’t know King Louie could run that fast. That’s 3D for you!!! That also makes it worth seeing.

If you’ve never heard of The Jungle Book here a little synopsis what the film is about.

Cast: Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Neel Sethi and Christopher Walken

Synopsis: “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, who embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery when he’s forced to abandon the only home he’s ever known. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.

I think everyone’s favorite song is The Bare Necessities. It’s always been my favorite. I’m humming it right now. Mowgli played by Neel Sethi is so cute. I love when he sanged the Bare Necessities song with Bill Murray who played Balloo the Bear.  Neel Sethi did an amazing job as Mowgli. I hope to see more from him in the future. The entire cast did a great job.

On a scale of 1 to 10 my kids and I gave The Jungle Book a 10. Thank you Disney & AlliedIM for the invite. We really enjoyed this film.

Sara Lee Artesano Bread for #NationalGrilledCheeseDay and Recipes

12 Apr

April is finally here and the trees are blooming. It is also known that April showers bring May flowers . Do you know what else April brings? It brings lots of grilled cheese sandwiches. April is National Grilled Cheese Month.

I grew up on lots of grilled cheese sandwiches and my kids love them just as much as I do. There’s so many varieties of cheese to choose from and that goes for the bread as well. But for me I am very selective. I’ll try all types of cheeses but I love bread that can make my sandwich taste great and hold all that cheese that I pile on.

Sara Lee has an amazing line of breads but their new line of Artesano bread goes above and beyond delicious. Sara Lee Artesano  Bread in stores now. Sliced thick with a mouthwatering soft texture and ringed with a golden crust, Sara Lee Artesano Bread has an Italian flavor profile with rich flavor and distinctly creamy character. The homemade taste is without artificial flavors, colors or high fructose corn syrup. It is an ideal substitute for any bakery-style bread in a favorite sandwich, or the perfect primary ingredient in recipes like paninis, French toast, bread pudding, strata and grilled cheese. Artesano has an average price of $2.99.

Below are some tips and techniques to hone your sandwich craft – essentially, the three “Bs” of the perfect grilled cheese:

Base — Like most iconic sandwich makers across the country would say, the bread you choose will make or break your masterpiece. Sara Lee’s new Artesano style bread is the perfect canvas for your grilled cheese creation. The hearty Italian slices will hold strong under the weight of the gooey cheese, but won’t overpower your fillings. It also crisps nicely on the outside, while the inside remains soft and fluffy for when you dig in.

Butter — If you’ve already committed to indulging in directly on the outside of the bread, rather than melting it in the pan first. This allows every corner of your Artesano bread to be coated, allowing for an even, golden sear edge- to-edge.

Blend — What you put inside your grilled cheese matters, and not all cheeses are created equal. Are you looking for a spicy, savory blend? Or how about a sweet and tangy? Whatever the combo, remember your cheese and other fillings need to play together nicely in the sandbox. Pick ingredients that pair well for that perfect balance on your palate.

I am so glad Sara Lee came out with this bread. I love eating it right out of the bag. It makes all of my sandwiches taste so good. I was asked to make grilled cheese sandwiches with this wonderful bread and you know I couldn’t turn down that offer. April 12, 2016 is National Grilled Cheese Day so I bring you 6 sandwiches for you to try or just drool over as you look at the pictures. I’m showing you the before, during and after. I enjoyed making these and can’t wait to come up with more recipes.

2. Colby, Cream Cheese and Bacon Bits

3. Havarti, Bacon, Guacamole and Peoper Jack

NY International Auto Show Review 2016 #NYIAS

31 Mar

Every year I head to Javits Center for the New York International Auto Show as Press, Mom, Auto Lover and Photographer. I scope for the  vehicles that I hope to own one day. There’s no pressure because I’m not walking into a car dealership. I’m leisurely strolling and carefully listening to what catches my attention. Is it the color, model, interior, exterior or features? Maybe it’s my kids saying “Mom we want that.”

An advantage to being a blogger is I’m able to test drive quite a few cars through the awesome people from Drive Shop. I can say I have quite a few favorites and my list is growing bigger every year. I think I need to hurry up and win Cash 4 Life so I can own a few.

What I love about the auto show is you’re surrounded by the best… and not all cars cost $2.5 million. There’s plenty of budget friendly vehicles for everyone. If you feel like a test drive unfortunately you can’t do that at the auto show. However, if you head to 11th Avenue there are plenty of car dealerships. Take a look at the pictures below. There’s so many to choose and this post would probably be two pages if I list the vehicles I want. Which one catches your eye? Any favorites?

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle or just window shopping head to Javits Center now because the NY Auto Show ends April 3, 2016. There are lots of family friendly activities to do too. My kids and I enjoyed ourselves. I also enjoyed press day for the first two days.

Tickets are available online or can be purchased on site. Clink the link for info: http://www.autoshowny.com/tickets/  Be sure to follow along @NYAutoShow on Twitter and Instagram.

Six Flags Great Adventure Coasters, Lions, Tigers & Bears

28 Mar

Six Flags GreatAdventure launched four seasons of thrills March 23 with Opening Weekend Presented by Allegra® and Spring Break running through April 3 from 10:30 am to 8 pm daily. The event is marked by the debut of adorable lion, tiger and bear cubs, special events, new offerings plus a countdown to the park’s 14th and most insane coaster, The Joker, and Hurricane Harbor’s new Caribbean Cove water playground.

*Lions, Tigers, Bears (Oh My!) and Events Begin March 23

Guests can see the Safari’s adorable baby cub trio – consisting of lion, tiger and bear cubs — beginning March 23. The female lion named Zuri and tiger named Nadya were born late last year. The pair made news when the Six Flags animal care team began hand-raising them as sisters when their mothers did not adequately care for them. While the two would typically never cross paths in the wild, they have bonded and help each other gain socialization skills. The newest cub, a female European brown bear named Baily, was born January 12 and needed medical assistance. She has been thriving under veterinary team care. The cub trio will spend most of the season at Camp Aventura, and will be introduced to their respective species at the Safari later this season.

Two new shows will make their debut this spring. Versatile entertainers Cliff Woerner and Nick Spinelli will blur the line between the possible and impossible as they showcase a blend of comedy, wondrous illusions and audience participation in This Magic Moment, beginning March 23 in Adventure Theater. In SeaFari Theater, fun and friendly animal competition featuring sea lions, pigs, otters, birds and goats will take center stage in the new Wildlife Games, set to debut later this spring.

The theme park will also introduce new dining venues this spring including the Go Fresh Café with healthy food options near Nitro, Sky Bar featuring wine, beer, soda and a variety of snacks adjacent to the 24-story SkyScreamer, and Villains Café featuring turkey legs, snacks and drinks in the Lakefront. For Season Pass holders, the best dining value continues to be the All-Season Dining Pass which allows guests to pay once and eat all year and includes the new dining venues.

Educational programs will also welcome students back to Six Flags this spring. Boy Scout Camporee, Girl Scout Day, Biology Day, Physics Day and Safari Off Road Education turn the park into an outdoor classroom where kids can experience fun and learning.

*THE JOKER Will Wreak Total Mayhem Along the Lakefront

Six Flags Great Adventure prepares for its most insane roller coaster experience in history with The Joker. After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, this 4-D, free-fly coaster will wreak havoc as riders flip head-over-heels at least six times along the weightless journey. Thrill seekers will experience exhilarating leaps and dives along a horizontal plane, along with unexpected drops as they tumble from one level to the next. The wing seats amp up the pandemonium since riders will experience all of this chaos with no track above or below ─ just the sky, ground and adjacent Great Lake churning around them.

The unique design of The Joker features:

· Massive, imposing, floating and twisting I-box track frame in a unique two-tone design

· One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology featuring smooth head-over-heels free-fly flips providing guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track

· 4-D wing vehicles that seat up to 8 per vehicle with a total of 5 vehicles

· Face-off seats that allow riders to face each other as they tumble head over heels

· A 120-foot-tall, 90-degree hill that is ascended by an elevator-style, chain link lift

· Two beyond 90-degree “raven” drops giving the sensation of free-falling

The park’s 14th and most unique scream machine in its history, The Joker is expected to wreak total mayhem beginning Memorial Day weekend, and join the ranks of all legendary roller coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure.

*New Caribbean Cove Splashes into Hurricane Harbor

Beginning May 21, Guests can cool down as the weather heats up at Hurricane Harbor. In June, the all-new water play area, Caribbean Cove, will add more family fun to the 45-acre water park.

 Caribbean Cove cool facts:

· Active and colorful water play center with more than 55 interactive features

· Spray nozzles, jets, valves, water guns, action slide and a giant tipping bucket towering nearly two stories in the air

· Two-foot-deep, beach-entry pool

· Giant beach area with 300 new lounge chairs

· New shade canopy will provide additional respite from the summer sun

Caribbean Cove will be situated between the between the Taak It Eez Ee Creek lazy river and Big Wave Racer slide complex and is slated to open June 2016.

*Infamous Super Villain Gives New Twist to Family Favorite at Six Flags Great Adventure

The chaos continues at Six Flags Great Adventure as a classic family roller coaster takes on a whole new persona in 2016. Next to The Joker, the park’s insane, new 4D, free-fly coaster currently taking shape, a sleek and serpentine coaster that has been thrilling families for more than 15 years will make her debut as Harley Quinn Crazy Train this spring.

“It is only fitting that this twisted makeover reunites The Joker with his partner in crime, Harley Quinn,” said Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerald. “As ultimate thrill seekers flock to our new, jaw-dropping coaster The Joker, family-sized thrills will be right next door with Harley Quinn Crazy Train.”

 Harley Quinn Crazy Train facts:

Bloggers Breakfast at IHOP

25 Mar

I had the pleasure of attending the  Bloggers Breakfast at IHOP. As a fan I was not passing this up. I love the fact that we can have breakfast anytime of day when I walk into IHOP. I also make breakfast for dinner at home but like to treat my family to IHOP. Have IHOP any day. Easter is also a great day to head to IHOP for brunch. Try out their amazing selection of food like pancakes, waffles, and their french toast.

IHOP announced the return of their delicious Double-Dipped French Toast! This year IHOP is rolling out two new flavors, Blackberry & Vanilla, and Banana, Peanut Butter, & Chocolate. Craig Hoffman, IHOP’s International Director of Communications  and President Darren Rebelez were in attendance and spoke about IHOP’s culinary edge, the family-friendly environment that makes the restaurant a local favorite, and their commitment to serving the communities in which they operate.

IHOP restaurants are bringing back their newest innovation, Double-Dipped French Toast– soft brioche bread first dipped in vanilla batter, then dipped a second time in a coating of corn flakes and oatmeal and griddled perfectly to a crispy golden-brown, raising the bar for French toast at an affordable price. See this delicious treat by visiting: http://www.ihop.com/about-ihop/tv-commercials

Double-Dipped French Toast is yet another example of why America turns to IHOP for breakfast any time of day—and has for over 57 years. When it was introduced last summer, it became one of our most popular dishes, and guests have been eagerly awaiting its return. And it’s back in two new sweetly indulgent varieties:

• Blackberry & Vanilla – Thick slices of Brioche bread dipped in our vanilla batter, then in cornflakes and oatmeal, griddled, and topped with plump blackberries and drizzled with vanilla sauce.

• Banana, Peanut Butter & Chocolate – Thick slices of Brioche bread dipped in vanilla batter, then in cornflakes and oatmeal, griddled, and topped with sliced fresh bananas, chocolate chips and a drizzle of peanut butter sauce.

“Double-Dipped French Toast became an immediate fan favorite when we introduced it last summer, so it was a natural choice to come back to the menu in two fresh, new flavors, “ said Marie Grimm, Vice President, Menu Development and Innovation, International House of Pancakes, LLC. “The combination of the unique texture of our Double-Dipped French Toast with these exciting new ingredients will create even more fans of this terrific treat, perfect for breakfast all day or night!

Guests can enjoy two slices of hand-crafted Double-Dipped French Toast any time of day as part of a combo with eggs, done the way they like them, their choice of crispy bacon, pork sausage links or a slice of grilled ham, and IHOP restaurants’ signature golden hash browns; or as an entrée stacked three slices high.

Double-Dipped French toast will be available at participating IHOP restaurants between February 15 and April 10, 2016.

For over 57 years, International House of Pancakes, LLC has been a leader and expert in all things breakfast and a leader in family dining. The chain is highly competitive in its menu offering, serving 65 different signature, made-to-order breakfast options as well as meals under 600 calories. Beyond offering “everything you love about breakfast,” IHOP® restaurants have a wide selection of popular lunch and dinner items, as well. IHOP restaurants offer guests an affordable, everyday dining experience with warm and friendly service. As of September 30, 2015, there were 1,667 IHOP restaurants in 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as in Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the Philippines, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. IHOP restaurants are franchised and operated by Glendale, Calif.-based International House of Pancakes, LLC and its affiliates.

I enjoyed stuffing my face and meeting with everyone and learning about why IHOP is successful and how menus and recipes are created. The food is always enjoyable. Staff was great as always since the 14th St location in NY is my regular spot anyway. Head to your local IHOP today. For more info visit: http://www.ihop.com and @ihop on Instagram and Twitter.
